hey qorax, is this twine available at Canadian walmarts and Micheals? Just curious so I can try it in my fogger v2 instead of cotton balls as well as my 91 whenever that decided to ship lol. Great write up btw

Hi K, it's found in many places here, viz.
1) marymaxim.ca
2) herrschners.ca
3) amazon.ca
etc.
(a)Not sold by Michaels Canada though
(b)Remember to 'select' the WHITE one everywhere.

I spent the day with the S&C yarn, in two of my KfLs. I just switched back to cotton balls. It vapes just...ok, but I guess I prefer the cotton balls.
I shall try it again at some point. I think the issue, for me, is the coil diameter. A 1/16 and a 2mm (toothpick size) were both too snug on the yarn, I think. Next time I fool with it, I'll try 3/32.

Cotton WILL swell and then not wick right.

You want the wire to touch all around. Barely touch. Because as it swells, it will definitely touch.

Oh, I know. I've been using cotton ball cotton with micro coils regularly in my Kayfuns. But my coils are 1/16 internal diameter. IMO, that's too small for doubled cotton yarn.

Good Morning folks!
A NICE UPDATE: Unlike the Kayfuns, the Russian never weeps thru the air-hole. Vaped it for 24-hrs now, there was never even a small bit of moisture anywhere, PLUS, I kept it lying sideways overnight (to check) and there was no liquid seeping/spillage anywhere!

bought some s&c twine today form Michaels not sure if it is the same thickness as yours seemed a little tight when I pulled it through , two tight so I removed 1 stran from the 4 bent it in half pulled it through my coil and so far it is wicking great

still found 3 strands to be two tight so did it with 2 folded in half pulled it through the coil 4 strands total, and great flavor and good wicking

Edit : there are 4 threads in one peace of the twine im taking two strands out to make a thinner piece and then folding them in half and pulling them through the coil

In which case u may like to pull thru just 'one yarn'. Remember, the wick should pass thru the micro with minimum resistance... as long as that is met - the build should work right. It's not necessary that 2 twines must go thru... even one would do the job!

the one thing I hated about micro coil is the wick could never seem to get the wick right sometimes it was great next day its dry hitting now with this sugar n cream yarn its great easy to thread in just loop some kenthal and slide it in, cut both ends if it feels tight pull a strand out, and your good to go doesn't expand like the cotton balls do so once its right its good , not sure how long my build will last but my dripper is hitting great and now my kayfun is to , dripper is set up with a 5/64th bit micro at .7 kayfun is set up with a 1/16th 10 wrap at 1.1 and there both wicking great,

hey guys, getting ready to put an order in for a KFL.

was just wondering if i could get your guys' opinions on which provari ring looks the cleanest and most flush with it.

I got a couple KfLs from intaste. The Provari rings that are on the options page look great. They are tapered slightly to match the OD of the KfL perfectly.

Got a picture to go with this post, Rule62?

Just wanted to throw this out for those who might not be aware.

Hemp twine....lots of info here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/378875-just-hemp.html

It wicks very well and is far less susceptible to heat from the coil so it should last longer before needing replaced. It does have a slight flavor to it, but tobacco flavor users seem to like the flavor. Some have reported extended boiling removes all flavor.

YAY. Finally got my KFL in the mail (my first RBA). Sadly my Kanthal STILL hasn't shipped (despite getting the tracking number on Satuday :(). So while I agonize and wait over the next few days, now I must decide what to attempt for my first build. I have Ekowool, Cotton Balls, Cotton Yarn and XC-116 to worth with. Not sure if I should just go straight to Micro Coils, or try a more traditional setup with XC-116 and a more standard coil. Aiming to hit between 2.5 and 3.2 ohm.

Any suggestions for a first build?

Edit: Oh, and I was pleasantly surprised by how small the KFL is, for whatever reason these things always look huge in the photos. Had the same reaction when I got my Provari despite having seen/held one like a year ago.
