Yehhhhhhhhh. So far I've exceeded my monthly vape budget by close to 200 every single month. This month tho, it's been pretty slow and mellow;I blame this on the provari. Ever since I got it I've just been really clingy to it and haven't really strayed off.

Just picked up a igo-w and a keg AFC top cap and I'm currently 63 cents past my vape budget. I hope no one on the forums talks about more new shiny stuff. I'm attracted to them like damned magpies.

I was the same way for a long time after getting my first ProVari. Before that, I had bought like 6 Chinese vv/VW devices in the span of like 3 months.

I was pretty happy with my ProVari/carto tank setup. I messed around with gennys and RDAs here and there. It wasn't until I got my first R91 that I was sent on another shopping spree. Now I've got a whole collection of "Kafuns".

Not only that, but since getting into the Kayfuns, I'm in love with my ProVaris all over again.

Question for the flavour experts.

From a flavour perspective running in the 8 - 10watt range, would I get better flavour by running a 1.6 -1.8ohm coil with 28gauge or 30gauge Kanthal?

Voltage set in the 3.8 - 4.0v range.

Thanks KAS...glad it working well for you, the more you build this style the neater it'll get.

@slim:here's the link to the cap, all pricing and details are spelled out, choose a style and paypal to cmacclel@comcast.net.
You'll need to be patient if you want one of these, the maker is crazy busy with a vape store opening and machining parts..
For Sale: Kayfun Tanks and Top Caps
do the top caps come with a clear tank section, or do you have to buy that separate?

I don't know if I qualify for expert, but I run 30g, 1.8ohm, 3/32" cotton wick on a mech. I have tried both 28 and 30, and my preference is for 30...less wraps means less chance for the wick to get choked, and the 28 seems to take too long to heat up.

I've also tried a smaller diameter...but the above is the sweet spot for me...

Oh, and sorry I jinxed you...but what a lovely Valentine's gift for you!

Oh, and that's 6 wraps on the 3/32"...

Not to put you on the spot or anything, but my understanding of microcoils is that the whole reason it came about was to increase surface area in contact with the wick in order to improve flavour performance. I've seen folks wrap upwards of 15 and 20 wraps and with double coils in order to support this theory.

What's your thoughts about that? Anyone else please feel free to jump in too.

I believe you are correct. And I've seen some really tiny diameter coils on thick wire. For me, as a "wattage wimp", I would have to wrap such a long coil, it seemed to atomize the juice faster than the wick could carry it. And, since the coil tends to heat from the inside out, the spot that would need the most juice, would have the least.

I know there is science and physics behind all of this, and, as an engineer, I understand that. But there are so many variables in the equation of the perfect vape, that each variable will influence another. And the one subjective variable in all of this is the human variable...

Technically, my coil is a milli coil, not a micro. I also thought that one of the purposes of dual coils was to be able to sub ohm easier, as the resulting resistance is half of the sum of the 2 coils resistance.

I'll chime in....

I go 8 coils max...
I need instant gratification, too much metal makes for a longer heat up time.
20 is just insane to me.

I've now gone vertical with my Kayfun builds.
much air-flow.
to flavor
many clouds
wow

Even though I usually use my powers for good instead of evil, occasionally it backfires...sorry, folks.

borrowing from vdaedalus' post, Yeah, that sounds like a short to me, either your brain or your backside. :D
