Time to rebuild my KFL. Going smaller diameter; 10 wraps of 28ga Kanthal, 1.5mm diameter, 1.1 ohm, sterile rolled cotton.

Jerms, watch that tail on the positive post. It can cause a short if it comes in contact with the chimney. Make sure your tails are completely wrapped around and cut short, so that they don't come in contact with any other part of the device.

Sorry you're going to have to take it apart. :)

Lol, I already did have to take it apart to raise the coil further from the airhole. I wanted to see how close I could get the coil to the airhole and have a good vape.. turns out not as close as I tried, vape wasn't good.

It's rockin and rollin well now though after raising the coil. That tails fine, not close to touching the chimney.

im usually about the same height as my coil diameter. for me too close and the coil seems to gunk faster and has less TH.

I was trying it to reduce TH as much as possible since I'm using up 24mg juices in my KFL (I normally vape 12mg). I'm guessing airflow was effected too much when I had it too close, very poor vapor.

ReadyXwick ceramic rope.......Materials - RBA Supplies

Curious minds wanna know.....Does it out perform cotton???????????

bought a bunch of the xc116 ( ithink it was) about 6 months ago. initially I used it in my reo and for me, it was a real pain because when you cut it, it freys and unwinds so inserting it in a micro coil was to fussy for me. I suppose if you do a standard coil and wrap around the ceramic rope its not to bad. taste was very good but I found it not quite as absorbent as cotton. I also was hearing about if the rope wasn't properly heat treated from the factory it could be bad. also cost was more and I felt cotton is just an all around safer substance so I stuck with it.

Not sure if anyone else had tried this, but I just took one of my jewelers Phillips screwdrivers and gently opened up the air hole on the side. Applying pressure to the outer rim. What this does is create more of a funnel (smooth) path for the air to enter. Totally killed the whistle.

May be worth a try, u also get the added benny of a slightly larger air hole that u can now adjust more finely with the air screw. Hope this helps for others.

you mean you kind of pried the air intake hole to make it larger? and just to the front edge? because I thought this hole went quite a ways in and is a solid hole all the way to the 510 pin. if so you would think it would need to be drilled. so with the screw driver is it just the initial edge that you widened?
