This thread is suddenly dominated by drills (And their sizes :D) and twisted kanthal. Hahaha. Managed to hand twist a double 32 ga kanthal reaaaally nice and tight. The key was simply making sure I didn't apply too much tension and causing it to break prematurely

Loaded it up on my russian, with Boba's bounty, 1/16 drill bit, 7 wraps, 1.3 ohms. It was SUPERB to say the least. I've always been cautious about gushing over new builds just cos I'm prone to placebo effects. But it's honestly a noticeable difference and I'm very happy. Also using 32ga instead turned out great for me: the coils were significantly more responsive.

Overall a very happy camper and thanks everyone who shared about it

From what I've experienced today, my plan is to convert to twisted coils for all my kayfuns. That's a lot of wires and far too many turns. A drill would be god sent.

Also to the more experimental folks, have y'all experimented with different kanthal combinations? I see rip tripper talking about how different gauges and round/flat kanthal brings out different flavors. Personally I'm very skeptical, although I would be very stoked to try it out once I have a drill.

I've been using the Mundy's Magic wire, which is 3 strands of ribbon wire that's been folded before being twisted together so it interlocks. Making it is way above my technical skill level so I've been trading for it :)

4/5 wraps on a 1/16" bit puts me at .8-.9ohms. The flavor on my KFL & clones is fantastic :)

Master of Bassets...and not much else.

The biggest problem is the wire is generally too thick to easily stay beneath the screws. I bend it under them to get the shape right, then put the ends in my tweezers and give em a good clamp with some vice grips.

So, we're back to twisted coils then? Better performance and flavour.. check!

I'm guessing we can still use our coiling gizmos to wrap the twisted wire coils, after using drills to get them twisted?

Yay! I finally get to go back to consuming the 300 or so feet of 32 gauge wire that I have. Where's the chart on what ohms I'll end up with using double or triple twisted?

So far I've just been using my usual trusty 1/16 drill bit to wrap my twisted coils on. It's pretty much the same, although I found it impossible to get all the coils as snug as a normal microcoil.

I've also been using 32 gauge kanthal. I had a .... load of them from my evod days and I'm glad I have some use for them now. On 1/16 drill bit, 7 wraps and double 32 gauge, I got 1.4 ohms which is within my fav range for kayfuns. Loaded up smooth criminal on it and I've been a very very happy camper.

DD - since you're in the KFL thread I'll assume you use one. Do you have an R91 on your ZNA? Pix?

Someone posted his ZNA/R91/Mundshtuk pic last night but it was too far.

Do you rock a Mundshtuk? I'm considering one but ~$35 needs some evaluating.

Here's a DNA 30/KFL combo. Wizard Evolved 2 with a KFL+ in short mode.

Don't have a R91, only KFL's and +. Here's a pic on the ZNA. Also, What on earth is a Mundshtuk?

Edit: Found it. No, I don't rock a Mundshtuk! :)
