When I get my KFL I'm going try a micro coil with cotton wick. But I suspect it won't last. My juices tend to gunk up wicks/coils/cartos very quickly, and I can't see myself pulling apart the tank to change the wick every day.

I also intend to try 1mm ekowool in a microcoil. I suspect that a single 1mm wick won't keep up though.

Doubling or tripling the ekowool heads into "mini-coil" territory. I've also got some "twik" (2mm ekowool with a cotton core) on the way to try as well that I have high hopes for (which would also be more of a mini-coil). And of course 3mm german silica, .8 kanthal ribbon, etc. for experimenting with more "normal"-ish coils.

Gonna be fun ;)

I vape some pretty sweet juices, although they are really sweet they are not that dark like a bobas. with the sweet juices I have been vaping the micro & cotton build lasts a week before re-inserting a new piece through the coil.

A week? Wow. Maybe cotton will do better than I feared. I was getting anxious reading about folks changing out cotton 2-3 times per day.

I've been vaping a DIY "Creamsicle", which is pretty sweet, for 2 days now with the same cotton wick in my micro coil. No degradation in performance yet.

what device are you using for gvc? and did you let the wicks break in?

Iam using a DNA 20 and have tried it at different wattages , how long for wicks to break in ? When I do a silica build in a dripper its good nearly straight away.

Atlantis. Keep playing around with builds. I personally prefer regular old silica vs ekowool on my kayfuns. I've tried 1mm, 1.5, 2mm ekowool and I get better results with 2mm silica. One thing with the figure 8 method (and it's a great method) I feel that the coils can be too high/ far away from the air intake which, for me at least, leads to a slightly muted flavor. I've vaped 200 mls of GVC in my kayfuns, and I find the flavor to be up there with any atomizer I've tried (drippers included). Just play around with the distance of your coils to where the air intake (air duct) is and the amount of silica inside the evaporation chamber and you'll find the sweet spot. Took me a couple of weeks building to find my own personal favorite setup. But it's well worth it.

Thanks so can you recommend a good build for Grants then please?:)

This is probably way more detailed than you were asking but here's what I do for anybody wondering. First thing I shoot for about 1.3-1.5 ohms. I've used 30 ga and 32 ga both seem to work very well with grants on the kayfun 32 gauge 4 wraps and 30 gauge 5 wraps. Personally, I take a 3 inch strand of 2mm of silica and cut another small maybe 1 inch piece of 2mm and lay it on top of my first strand. Wrap my coil around both pieces and cut the smaller 1 inch piece so it's right even with my wraps on both sides. I keep the ends of the kanthal in the north south positions. I flip my coil so that when I attach them to the posts the coils are closer to the air duct. (If you flip one way your coil sits up... the other the coil will be down closer to the duct). I'm diagonal at this point. After attaching a take the small flat head screwdriver and lift about 1mm off the air duct hole that's it. This is key if it's too close it might flood and if it's too far flavor suffers.

After attaching I take my ends and lay them on the ledge (for lack of better words) on each side, so the tails of the silica are usually about 1/2 to 1 inch hanging over on each side. I take some fingernail clippers and clip right at the end of the ledge on each side (still holding them in place). Kinda like this picture but going all the way to the edge. Just a single piece of 2mm silica on each side no doubling for me.

Then I screw the body of the evaporation chamber on, test fire for even glow, add juice. Burn it. Add Juice. Burn it. Then add juice, add the chimney to the evaporation chamber and vape. One tip is to vape with just the evaporation chamber and use the chimney as a drip tip. If it doesn't taste decent after a few break in vapes you've got a short or a wrap isn't tight enough etc. you know how that goes. That's it. I think less silica in the evaporation chamber the better and having just the right height of your coil over the air duct/ air intake hole are the two key factors. but just my :2c:

My first couple of builds i've been using ekowool with 28g wire... burnt out pretty quick and flavor wasn't there as much as I expected.
Switched with same ekowool, the figure 8 method and 30g wire and the flavor has been spot on and almost perfect for me. I do hope to get my hands on GVC soon

Right on . . . Good to read that you got it going well.

i ordered from intaste.de and had no problems with customs. they provided great customer service too. although, i wasn't home to sign for the package today :(

It was inTaste's 3rd shipment, which had issues with the German Customs folks. It's been good since then.

Any clue where we can pick up the screwdriver? I have some tiny screwdrivers that work pretty well but its a pain having to get them out all the time. I'd rather have something that can go in my pile of vape stuff without me having to worry about losing it. I think someone posted a price but I couldn't find the info.

You could also probably get from wherever spectacles and sunglasses are sold? I received one FOC with a pair of prescription glasses.
