Last year I was messing around with the flavor wicks, I had them in for quite some time. In the end I took them out. my reasons were 2 things, one I felt like it restricted airflow slightly, also it seemed to get slightly darker then the regular wicks that were thru the coil, this might have been because my flavor wicks were separate, just on top. because of this wick not lasting as long as the rest of the set up it required changing out more often. at first I did find it to add a slightly better flavor but after a day it did the opposite. what I never tried was the flavor wick that actually ran into the juice wells, this might have kept it wetter therefore might have lasted longer.

Mr. vapdivrr I don't post here to much but I am not sure if you remember a set of wick pattern's called the truman, with a wick over the top, and down in the wells? I was doing those for a long time, until just recently. I decided to try putting silica in the coil, and down to the wells, then I go over the top of the coil with cotton, and into the wells as well. I always had problems with silica wicking right, and wanted to try this, so I could dry burn, and still get the flavor of cotton. I think I get about 4 tanks out of each, maybe 5. I just wick it with silica then put the tube on, and put the cotton over the top, I have 4 set up this way now, I just thought I should share.

i Definitely remember the Truman coil, actually pretty well because I always thought it was a continuation of what I had done before. As mentioned I had used and reported some findings about my type of flavor wick then Truman kicked it up with one continuous wick unlike the 2 section one I had used. that's how things go and get perfected and that's why I love ecf. anyways your configuration sounds interesting and may have to give it a go. so just wick the coil with silica, then you are adding a section of cotton on top? is this top part running down and into juice wells?

FYI: Even though it is a shame that such an expensive atty requires this level of tinkering and modification, my R91 no longer weeps from the 510 screw after I replaced the center pin assembly with the one from FatDaddyVapes. I also switched out both insulators with replacements from KidneyPuncher, as the originals had become deformed and somewhat melted. It's hard to say which addition actually plugged the leak, but the R91 has had a perfectly dry bottomend ever since.
I've had the replacement center pin from FatDaddyVapes in my R91 for 24 hours now with no leaking. I did not replace the insulators (there was nothing wrong with them), so it may be safe to say that the replacement center pin is the solution. Thanks, folkphys!

Yes into the juice well as well, that was the idea because with silica I always would get dry hits, never happens this way. Just makes it a bit easier, I was getting tired of fiddling with the wicks so much. The way I wick the cotton, looks alot like the continuous one.

Hi guys, Truman here...been awhile. Things have slightly changed in my Kayfun builds, here's my latest...almost. I've moved from the one piece wick-over method, been using the two piece method for awhile now...here's what it looks like, with cotton.

Two days ago I built 3 of my KF's with the Sally Beauty Rayon and I'm still in the testing phase with this material, and these 3 builds are without the over-wick, what I've noticed so far is a slight flavor change...is it better, not sure yet, I think there's a bit longer break-in period, vapor production is on par with my cotton builds, I'll try my original wicking method that's pictured next build and report back.

I feel like one benefit of the Rayon material is durability/longevity, cotton begins to disintegrate after a couple tankfuls...I don't think that'll happen with the Rayon, we'll see. Hope everyone is well these days.

I'm surprised that works. My common sense tells me that wick on top would cut off all air thru the coil. Of course we all know common sense can lead us astray. So that actually works huh? I'll have to try it.

I'm sorry but I have to say it... Please take it apart and get that piece of hair off it. LoL Great looking build tho.

I re-wicked yesterday with a little less cotton than I normally do and the performance so far has been stellar. Getting better at this everyday. I did keep my same coil since its been performing flawlessly. I didn't use a flavor wick this time and I'm noticing more vapor and TH, about the same flavor, so I'm keeping it simple moving forward.

I did swing by a Sally's to try and pick up some Rayon, but they were sold out. Gonna try another Sally's near my work and give it a go but I'm quite satisfied with cotton at the moment.

Hey sunnata…I'm only a couple days on the Rayon builds, so far so good…for the testing I'm running a standard wicking method with nothing over the top, I have to say…the performance is outstanding so far, great flavor, vapor production is on par or maybe a little better. One obvious benefit to the Rayon is how well it wicks and it's liquid capacity vs cotton, this stuff wicks crazy fast.

On my next build I'm going to try it with the over-wick. What I'm really anxious to see is how it holds up vs cotton over 3 tankfuls, I believe it's going to outlast cotton for sure, I'll report back soon…

Hey Truman, nice to see you around again.

I've also been using your 2 piece wick for the past few months, haven't felt the need to experiment ever since. If I recall correctly you had posted an update to the single piece wick back then.

Interested to hear about your experiences with rayon.

Alright folks, reporting back. Tried two builds with Cellucotton (Rayon) last night.

Chimney Build: Nice Vapor, About the same flavor, STRONG TH, too strong for me. This was with a 1/16 12 wrap with 28g ending up at 1.5ohms

Ended up going back to standard position micro coil. No flavor wick. This is my Go To build moving forward. Easy as hell to change out, GREAT vapor, AMAZING flavor, and a light TH, depending on coil position.

Cellucotton has got to be my favorite out of the other wicks I've tried. Once you figure out hot to work with it, its great. One thing though, you have to let wick soak for a good 10 min before vaping. I was so use to cotton that I started vaping right away and got a burnt taste, so just let is sit and soak up for a good amount of time and then enjoy the vape.

Interesting. I always thoroughly wet my wick to place the ends on the shelf before I put on the chamber. I found that if I tried after I was likely to push it into the juice channels. Then I look into the chamber to make sure that the wick is still in place and wasn't caught by the chamber when I screwed it on. Then the chimney, a quick fire to be sure everything is OK after I check resistance, then finish assembly and fill. Takes at most 3 minutes and I've never gotten a dry hit with rayon. Built my Kayfun mini the same way.

Wonder why you're seeing a need to wait so long for the initial load up of the wick?
