Kayfun LITE

I built my first Kaylite today. Took me about 4 hrs to get it right. I made a microcoil with 30guage on a 1.5mm (1/64") bit. Firt I tried torching the coil with bent needle nose pliers, didn't work because the pliers were a heat sink. Finally I was able to aneal the coil with the provori and tweezers.

I got stuck on the wick. I tried threading cotton and just couldn't get it thru the whole. Switched to one strand of 1mm silica. It worked but was awful tasting. (it was burnt in the center.)


Finally was able to thread the cotton thru. And then magic happened. I have never tasted Vaperite VR4 (my mainstay) like this, amazing.
flavor. Its just an Ephro unit, but works great.

My stumbling block is finding a way to load it. A syringe didn't work (27 guage.) I was lucky enough to find a vaperite sample bottle and that worked great but have no idea where to buy more.

Any way thanks for the help on these threads this is better than any clearomizer.

Well after it sits for a half our I get the burnt cotton taste. I am afraid my coils aren't good, the wicks look perfect but the coils are crooked and not melted together. Loooks like I am ordering ceramic ended tweezers so I can squeeze the coil together while hot without making a short. Also getting 28g wire instead of 30 should be easier to work with.

Been using the rayon for 2 days now. I did not have any complaints while using cotton in my kayfun builds.... but I have to say the rayon is a step up from cotton. If your on the fence its worth the 10 bucks to try it. If you like it... well you will have enough wicks for 3 lifetimes

I wish I could say it is the holy grail of wicking material.

I have done 2 builds in a kayfun. First one maybe not enough wick so I rebuilt using just a hair more rayon. It is maybe a hair easier to work with than cotton but compared to a good cotton build I don't feel it preforms any better. I have run 3 tanks of juice through my latest rayon setup. I have 500 feet of it so will probably still work with it for a while. Maybe next week I will feel different.... right now on the fence

I was using way too much cotton and not pulling it as it was originally threaded. I just rebuilt it again for practice 25 minutes. I could see myself saving a lot on buying Kanger coils, but I've got to find a place where I can find a bunch of those little sample bottles for filling.

I have a kaypro I want to try too, with the provari and a leather strap on case I can see that being my work day vaporizer.

With a thick juice, I can see why a tiny 27ga needle would be a problem. I have a 14ga but I don't think it fits in the fill hole, but I'm thinking that a 16ga probably would, and would be fat enough to dispense thick juice. if you already have a luer lock syringe, just getting some 16ga needles might be the most cost effective solution.

VaporDNA has the best price on the ceramic tips; I got some last week and they really make a difference. And yes 28ga is much easier to work with, especially if you prefer lower ohm coils. if you want a little more resistance, 29ga is also very good, almost as easy to deal with as 28ga.

It's really great, isn't it? I'm tickled pink with it -- I can turn up the wattage a lot more than I ever could with cotton, getting much better vapor that way, even with my high-PG juice.

However, it *will* burn, if you have the coil really stuffed; this morning I got a burnt taste and had to change the rayon I put in yesterday, it was definitely a bit scorched -- but I was running at 9.5w last night, a full watt higher than I ever dared run it with cotton.

Tried a whole bunch of different amounts of rayon. My amount may change as I go forward but right now I am using more than I first started out with. A good estimate... if you laid the cotton out flat I used 1/4 of the width of cotton. Having no issues wicking 1.3 ohm at 15 watts on a dna30 box

thanks but syringes are like holding a pack of cigarettes and a lighter for me. I'm going to email vaperite and see if they know where to buy those little bottles.

I can't recommend the ones from madVapes, cheap as they are... you kinda get what you pay for, with something like that. the $3 one I got from MyFreedomSmoks was MUCH better quality; the madvapes ones are so cheaply made that the threads of the caps won't stay threaded, so when you press on the bottle, it leaks around the cap something fierce. I worked in a plastics manufacturing plant once, and my personal QC would never have passed those bottles.

I just use a small needle nose and let it get red hot and stay that way for 10-12 seconds take
My finger off the fire button and squeaze it together at the same time. I lose stuff too easy to
Invest in special tweezers; that or my wife will decide she likes them more.

Decent price and they work perfectly. MBV has many of my favorite juices and uses a Tardis for shipping.

I get my stuff 3 days after ordering 3000 miles away with USPS first class. Must be a Tardis.

I use strictly 30ga on my KFL. About 6 wraps on a 1/16 bit or syringe, right around 1.3-1.6 ohms. That's IMO where the KFL is best.

I use 2mm 5 wraps of 30 kanthal for a 1.4 ohms.... I like this best

I tried 28 kanthal with my 2mm drill bit 8 wraps for 1.4 ohms but I prefer the 30 kanthal setup

It may be the juice you're using. I'm on my second day with the CC running at 14.8 watts, and not one dry hit, yet. Of course, there's a first time for everything. YM-apparently does-V.

I was finally able to get it to work, I think I had the coil too low. All told it took a half day of fiddling, but I got faster each time I rebuilt. And Vaperite's RY4 never tasted this good. Mine has the non adjustable air intake hole and I can out pull it and get burnt cotton taste, so I know its still not perfect, but if I pull at a medium rate its wonderful.
