This was Cotton. But I use Rayon as well. I'm just more use to Cotton, more familiar with it.
Kayfuns are the most user friendly rba's IMO. You'll get it right. And once you do - It'll be like riding a bicycle...
Show some pictures. Maybe I could help you identify what's wrong.

Edit: That 0.5 Ohm build is 32 Watts on a Mech at 4 Volts - No dry hits at all.

Edit again: I don't know which method are you using in building your Kayfuns.
But here is the easiest and the most user error tolerant method (IMHO):
1. Wrap your micro coil any which way you do and put it on your kayfun.
2. Thread a string of Cotton (Rayon) trough the coil. It should not be vary loose, but you should be able to pull it through without tearing it. Leave both ends of your wick as long as they are.
3. Lift the ends of your wick up and put the Chimney Well over the wick and screw the well onto the base.Making sure no cotton gets into the threads. Now you have a Chimney Well on and two pieces of cotton sticking through it.
4. Trim access cotton with scissors just what sticks out of the Chimney Well.
5. Using something long and thin (toothpick or blunt needle) tuck your wick down onto the deck on both sides very gently.
That's it. Prime it with some juice, assemble it, fill it up and vape. Just don't forget to put it on your Ohmmeter to make sure you didn't short your coil before firing it for the first time.

I hope this helps, but if you already knew that, then ignore it. I meant no disrespect.
Not offended.. Thanks for the help :)

Thats exactly how I have been doing it...

Tonight, I trimmed about 3-4mm higher than the chimney and tucked it in.. Now I have gurgling and can go much higher in wattage. No flavor though...

I dunno.. I'll try again.

When I first started. Tasted like cotton. Looks like a little too much. But not as much as yours looks?:

The chimney method.. these give the burnt taste a random times. But always within one tank, except once.:

I'm starting to think its the juice. While NETs do clog, I get several fills on the MT3S's I rebuild with cotton and dual coils:

And can go for days on an Origen v2, but this is what the KFL+ looks like after one tank:

I saw a you tube video where the guy had a wooden stand to hold the electrode base of the KLF to sit in when tightening the coil down with the screw terminals, something like that would help me a lot. Anyone know where to get one of these? It is made of wood.

Also there was mention of a pictutorial, is it public yet ? Or could someone e-mail to me?

Looks about right. Except, of course, the last picture that looks quite awful.
I have 9 differed Kayfuns: Original SvoeMesto 3.1 ES, EHPro 3.1 Clone, HCigar 3.1 Clone, two more unknown clones from Fast Tech. And now four big 26650 ones. And every single one works like a charm. Cotton, Rayon, Silica, Ekowool - everything works. Heck, I even tried Stainless Steel Mash that worked only started to leak a few days later and never stopped. I use round wires as well as Flat Ribbon. Even Dual coils that work. I use them on Mechanical Mods as well as Regulated. I even made a special build for my brother to be used on his low power eVIC that he is happy with. I use several Taifun GT, Flash E-Vapor and gazillion Genesis tanks. The only tanks that perform better, IMHO are AGA-T7 and Foggers V4.2, V4.3 because of their innovative airflow. But I have an unconditional love for Kayfun probably because I am Russian by birth and because they never failed on me. Ever!
I don't know what else to tell you, other than: Keep Trying. Good luck.

I got ...... off last night and made a good build with cotton. I went real light on the cotton so it would not get constipated in the coil. So far so good but I'm not openening the airhole much because there isn't enough wick to support a strong draw. But the taste is to die for! That's the frustrating part is every once in a blue moon a get a build that that tastes so damn good.

If I ever get this to be a science instead of hit or miss I'm wondering how those $15 clones at fastech perform. The Ephpro and trobeca were fairly pricey.

If you are good at 3.8 volts, why do you need 4 volts? Enjoy 3.8. I vape at 9 watts, whatever volts that is for a 1.3 ohm coil, but I think it is low. Variable voltage is so that you can dial in the right number. Seems like you found it. Lower and you may be just as happy, and your wick may last longer. Vape too hot, and you will vape your insulators.

Just gotta keep at it! It'll be worth it :) and besides, mastering kayfun opens up doors to other similar attys :)

I would use the one that's 100% pure cotton. Hydrogen peroxide doesn't sound good to vape. :)

hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen. it evaporates rather quickly when exposed to light and air.

H2O2 -- it's very safe.

I do think the best cotton to use is organic and natural/mechannically processed/unbleached such as the Japanese cotton pads or right off the plant: Horizon Premium Cotton Wick

here: was told you guys might be into some rda build stations/display stands (x-post r/Vapercraft) : ecigclassifieds

or just build on your ohm meter.

I also build on one of these: http://www.kkvapetek.com/products.html -- has a 510 threaded hole in the body. sits very stable.

Anyone use a Taifun?

yeah I got a Taifun, I have used it twice. It's ok, I am not as stoked up about it as some people. The large one is just a big heavy tank.

My second build on it was decent and the vape and flavor real good. Its just the current Kayfun and stuff lineup I got is sooo good dont wanna change much. I didnt notice much of a flavor change over the Kayfun. <<<< Maybe a little. But on this new Aqua i did. Someone in the room when I was vaping my Aqua said they could smell the flavor.

oh and Qorax, I did get my Aqua in, not bad. these puppies do seem to be subohming devices tho. to get to 1.3 ohms, I needed around 28 wraps, I thought at 2.4 mm. coil build. <<<< It wicked really well on a larger wick too. Pretty good vape, but I must say my Kayfun at that build on the Aqua, definitely outperformed it in the vape cloud department. If its true that the foggers best performance is around builds in the 1.4 mm area, could one say the fogger is only a subohm RBA? NO?

not familiar with the fogger, but this kayfun-derivative is built for the subohm: Orchid Kayfun Styled Atomizer by Aethertech
too bad it's a plastic tank. I prefer pyrex. looks like it has potential, though.

If I'm looking at the right one they could use a few more pics. I'd like to see detail pics of the "guts" before committing the kind of $$'s they are asking for. Agree about the Pyrex... or even a solid SS tank option.
Really like that is is a US made device!! :toast:

yeah, I am with you.

I only buy a device after reading reviews first, making sure it's solid and well-designed and fabricated. I never buy a brand-new cellphone or whatever, either, until all the bugs are worked out and I know what I'm getting into.

the orchid just came out on the market in limited numbers, so I imagine reviews will trickle in later in the summer.

My ideas for what they're worth. I think you have the wicking correct but your problem is the coil. Placement drastically affects the taste, vapor production and throat hit. Try moving the coil towards towards or away from the deck a bit (1mm at a time) and see what happens. I'd try a bit further first, simply because for me when I placed the coil where everyone told me to I didn't get much taste but did when I moved it higher.

Taifun GT is capable of holding 7.5 ML if you drill the top cap and install some Fill screws...

I've got Fogger V4.2 (small deck), V4.3 (large deck) and two Big Foggers.
The best performance I get out of 0.8 - 0.5 Ohms builds. But that doesn't mean you can't make it higher. Only, much like your Aqua, with a dual coil design, your coil resistance has to be doubled of your target resistance and you either have to use thinner wire or much longer one and that sometimes creates a problem.
