What's up guys? I have a kayfun lite on the way, and was wondering what your opinions are on the drip tip. It looks cool to me but have heard the draw is tight due to the small airhole. Any comments or suggestions?

I, personally, do not find the draw to be tight on the KFL. Everyone's different though. Grats on the purchase of the KFL. :D

I think the stock drip tip performs fine....not a tight draw at all.....I just don't like the look so I changed mine.
I do find that a wider bore gives you a cooler vape, as I am using sub-ohm coils and these babies get really warm, so the wide tip is good for me.
Some are reporting they get liquid 'pin ......' on thier tongue when using the stock DT, but not me.

Took the same, trusted, route as my Kayfuns... a Microcoil with Cotton! Just that the 'cotton' was different this time... a "Cotton Twine", which was specially gifted to me by a good friend from the GP-Paps thread, with promising features! And he was so very right!

Couldn't go wrong with Vapdvrr's micros, which is in all my KFLs, hence stuck to that time-tested method. 28G Kanthal, 10 wraps on a toothpick, 1.2Ω... my type of juice firerer! Took a strand of the cotton twine, looped it thru a needle and slowly passed it across the coil. Trimmed it once it was on the other side. Sizes below...

WICK SIZES:

Kept the wick tails to 1cm each end. The total wick length was around 2.5cms.

WICK TAIL PLACEMENT:

As per my standard practice, kept the wick ends long enough to lie flat across the deck. Not just on the juice channel - but bending on the slots towards right and going all the way till the edges of the deck. Yep, I do that always and they never fail me!

Juiced it up inside the chamber... 6 drops of Stinky Canuck's 'Fantasia' and test fired... voilà, there was smoke, err Vapor! And boy, whatta vapor it was! The room was soon winter fogged... visibility was '0' and a flight couldn't have landed without AELPAR (Assisted Electronic Landing with Precision Approach Radar)!

BOTTOMLINE:
It's about 10-hrs. now that I'm vaping this beautiful system. Yep, and non-stop! A tank is thru and am on my next fill. It is amazing me. Both, the Russian as a device and the Sugar-n-Cream Cotton Twine as a wick...

a) The Russian, as I had mentioned before (my First Impressions at >post# 2815<) is very pretty and is well built. An exact replica of the Kayfun 3.1ES, all parts interchangeable, but tad better b'coz it can be filled with our regular needle top bottles. And I especially like the markings on it ;) which is a very neat affair! It doesn't need any tweaks and just like our Kayfuns - performs stupendously with whatever we put into it. I have since screwed the Airflow Control totally 'in', b'coz I like a li'l "pull factor" -- and this feature is awesome! I have checked it in a few positions... fully open makes it very airy, somewhere along the middle it's damn good for 'lunging' our vape... produces a visible fog! And towards the closing end it still is fine, at least for me, not harsh, not tight, just right!

b) The Sugar-n-Cream Cotton Twine, is another smart replacement for our cotton ball wicks. I find it easy to put in, no guess work there, and is producing much more flavor and vapor IMHO. A friend of mine using it tells me that he hasn't replaced the wick yet on his Ithaka, which is around 4-weeks now, and is yet getting the same vape quality as on it's first day! If that were true - we definitely have a surefire winner here. Nevertheless, this thing rocks... easy to build and offers gr8 vape satisfaction!

Overall I'm thrilled with this setup! This is working very well!

NOTE: Gone the entire mile... hot-squeezed the coils for a tight fit, DMM checked at every stage, boiled the cotton for 5-mins before wicking etc. :)

Outstanding review Q! On par with the feedback I've seen from you; detailed, pics, and style.

I suppose the S$C twine is a unicorn?

Q, I am most stoked about the sugar and cream twine.....is it really performing as good or better than the cotton balls...!
Indeed i'm heading straight for the market in the morning to search some out, as I have to replace my cotton wicks every 2 days. I'm looking forward to this-great find bro!

Edit: I see you've boiled the cotton, I'll keep that in mind....

BTW, as always, beautiful pics and tutorial.....congrats on the "R"....!

I don't think they are that close, there is at least twice the amount of steel in the ac9. I've owned both, sold the ac9. just my opinion of course

also, sorry about the vid, wrong thread.

True. I just meant they're the same genesis style. I have both and the RSST is nowhere near the AC9 build or material quality

I spent too much money to be unhappy with anything lol. Even the Loki ring was 20 bucks. The painters tape idea is decent, where'd you guys get your rings?

-Lord

I picked up the ProV Cone from C9V when I ordered my KFL.

My opinion of the ProV Cone is not, in any way, my opinion of C9V. I received excellent service/shipping, 4-5 days, from C9V.

I got some brushed and polished ones from Sotong via one of the UK forums. They were around $15 shipped to me.

Interesting indeed! I bought some cotton yarn a while back, and tried it. I didn't like it as well as the cotton balls, so I haven't used it since. I just chalked it up as a failed experiment. However, I just used a single piece, and pulled it through the coil, the same way as I do with the cotton balls. There were no dry hits, but the flavor and vapor were thin. I shall try it again with the double piece. I think I can make a 'hook' with a piece of 24g wire, to pull the yarn through.

Good Morning folks!
A NICE UPDATE: Unlike the Kayfuns, the Russian never weeps thru the air-hole. Vaped it for 24-hrs now, there was never even a small bit of moisture anywhere, PLUS, I kept it lying sideways overnight (to check) and there was no liquid seeping/spillage anywhere!

DON'T FORGET to boil it! The recommended is 20-minutes of boiling... I did it for 5-minutes though (b'coz I feel 5 or 20 should do the same job!), but boil you must.
