Is there some secret to getting this thing to wick properly? I've tried a few different methods and none work. I followed the Vaperev video exactly and I'm still getting dry hits. It works great after I manually pull juice in but it doesn't automatically wick. I really hope they're working on a new version that fixes this. Maybe with juice control.

I guess the secret is..... I have no problem with the lites i own. They all wick great. I have a cotton wick in over a month. I was going to rewick the micro coil, but... If it aint broke, i don't fix it. It does help to have multiples to futs with. Other then, whats the secret statement. What is your build? Flat wire? 30g, 28g silica or eco, cotton and ceramic wick.. There is so much info in this thread my eyes are bleeding. Look for micro coil video here. Or just keep looking for the "secret". If this came off harsh, sorry i am drinking with out you.

Now that's an offer I'll take you up on! PM me your shipping addy (and paypal for return shipping) and I'll send this thing out to you ASAP!

I've been messing with it all night again and am at my wits end!

    PM coming.

    I signed up...didn't I? Can't back out now. :)

We'll take a look at it and if I can't get it going then I'll send it to Q who will send it to Dust who will send it to...

Just kiddin'. If neither of us can get it going I'll figure out why because I have one to compare it to. Leave it with your last coil/wick still in it. I may learn something from that.

I have a feeling my juice channels are not machined big enough. I have another KFL coming tomorrow for my wife and I will compare them. Looking at photos of the kfl, my channels definitely look smaller

Let us know bustabo. I have a fellow threadster sending me his Kayfun thinking he might have the same issue. I will be comparing it to my Kayfun as well.

    Thanks

I love the "it must be broken"crowd.

Really? I've been vaping going on 4 years now. Been rebuilding for most of that time. I think I know what I'm doing.

I really do think that there are manufacturing issues between units...what else could explain the folks having so many problems?

    PM coming.

Thanks again Bronze! Tried to reply to your PM, but your box is full. :)

I may be trading the KFL for a Spheroid today (been looking for one for quite awhile and one for trade just popped up on the classys). If the trade falls through I'll definitely be sending it out to you ASAP. I'll keep you informed!

If you're not getting enough juice feeding, this may help.....

Lower your micro coil as low as possible without touching the airhole.
This will restrict less air coming in from the outside, thus more of the suction will be applied to the channels.

A coil that is high, will permit more air coming in from the outside and less suction on the feed channels. Size of the coil and how much cotton is stuffed down the ledge play a part here also.

The vacuum you create when taking a vape, pulls the juice into the channels and onto the ledge. If you have too airy of a pull, your not having much suction to those channels. Lowering the coil helps by blocking more air coming in, applying more of the suction to the channels instead.

-Lower the coil as much as possible. Build your coils so the legs are coming straight out, aiding the ability of the coil to be lowered.
-Make sure to "Center" the coil over that airhole.

The tighter the draw you can create, the more the juice will be drawn in and up the channels.
Another technique I've been using - when attaching my coil to the screws, my coil is straight and not diagonal. This makes the cotton coming out of the coil straight and down the ledges- effectively making a tent, sort-of, around the coil area. Again, its aiding in a tighter draw. (Even doing this, the KFL is anything but a tight draw....its a bit airy to begin with)

    Hope this helps-

I'll be interested in seeing if anyone finds any discrepancies in the wick slots. I remain skeptical, but anything's possible, I suppose.
Today's CNC machines are extremely consistent.
I have 5 KfLs, bought at different times, from 3 different suppliers. 1 from Vaperev, 2 from Intaste, and 2 from Cloud9. With similar set ups (micro coil/cotton), all perform equally well.

    Mine too!
All of my Kayfuns & the Russian just perform perfectly, stupendously and amazingly with anything that I build on them, any juice that I load on them and anyway I keep them!

    ^ I use 1/16 drill bit (1.6mm)

The trick i have found is to us a smaller wick (if your using cotton).
I dont pack or roll my cotton tight.....and i make sure it slips thru the coil with very little resistance. If you're having trouble putting it thru the coil....its too big. Remember, the cotton will swell in that coil...if its packed too tight, it cant wick fast enough. This alone has made all the difference in the world for me.

Also, my wick goes down the sidewall and across the base and covers the base by maybe 3/4. I make sure the cotton is pushed away from the juice channel (the bottom part of the wick lies on the base, but is pushed against the wall).

This has made my wicking problems vanish...it now soaks like a sponge, i cant get a dry hit if i tried. I worry more about flooding it.....

    Hope u get it sorted.
Exactly! I build the same way. A few days ago I experimented with a cotton yarn wick. 100% cotton, boiled in distilled water and dried. I didn't find the result to be as good as plain old cotton balls. I assume it's because the yarn is twisted too tight. When I use cotton balls, I don't twist them too much. I leave the cotton pretty fluffy. After I've put the chamber tube on, I prime the cotton with a few drops of juice, and then use a mini screwdriver to move the tails away from the juice channels, and up against the ledge.

Sorry I quoted this from halfway down the thread. So i always thought i had to put the wick (cotton for me) right next to the juice channel to avoid flooding the chamber? I thought the wick would get its juice from the juice channel and once saturated with juice it wouldnt b able to keep absorbing more juice hence preventing the flooding?
So do you guys always move the wick away from the juice channels?
