Normally it wicks fine, but it seems to slow down if you fill it to the brim.

Don't fill it to the brim is the simple answer. But if you have, maybe try tilting it before you take it apart...

edit - although I do find I'm having to tune the airflow to get it to wick perfectly. I guess that's partly inexperience with the device, but probably also my wick isn't optimal yet. Hey, first two builds in two devices: I'm amazed it's working this well!

I always fill using the screw, but I haven't had that issue. Oh well. You enjoying it, Mr. Crab?

I suppose the coil pitch counts as micro, so perhaps not), and my first cotton wicks, never mind my first vacuum-fed-rebuildable-tank type devices, so the plan is to familiarise myself with all of that before I throw in too many more variables...

I've also got 30ml of unflavoured WTA coming across the pond from Wholecig, which I'm planning to drip. I genuinely feel that I'm on the cusp - I'd be surprised if I'm still smoking in a month's time.

I think it could be a breakthrough for you. I would be glad to hear it if you are able to put the smokes down for good.

I have one KFL, one KFL +, and a Russian 91% that I have pre-ordered but not yet received.

I use the chimney micro coil method. I use 30 gauge, 6/7 on a 3/32" bit (I think that is 2.3 mm to you). I build it just like RiP Trippers YouTube video. You can easily do it, and it makes a significant flavor difference. The diameter of the coil plus the tightness of the coil is what defines it (in my mind).

Technically a 3/32" coil is a mini coil, not a micro coil.

Far from seasoned, but I would say the KFL and Sophia are running a very close race on Air Flow. If it's draw you are speaking of, I find them very close if not identical.

I'll be very glad to be rid of the accursed things - mental health suffers when I cold-turkey, so all previous attempts failed drastically. But I actually *prefer* using the KFL+ to smoking most of the time (sometimes the PG is getting to me - still not entirely acclimatised to that). That's what gives me confidence that now is the time...

I'm currently using a 2mm ish screwdriver (that's 5/64 for you lot ), 28 gauge, around 9 - 12 coils. One meters at 1.6 ohms, one at about 1.9.

Going to rebuild by AGA-T2s as micro / stainless, then come back to the KFL+s for a proper mad scientist session...

Tilt is easy to understand from the KFL doc. They explain about the vacuum, like an upside down water glass on a bowl of water. The link was posted to this site a few times. It's worth googling if you don't find that.

Tilt has an effect when the juice channel on one side sees air but the other one is still submerged. The tank is then open to the atmosphere through the chimney. There is no vacuum to prevent the submerged side from flooding. There are no issues when both are submerged, or when both are open to air. Holding it upside down briefly is a good way to equalize when the juice level gets low and forms a vacuum.

I use this tilt-flooding to pre-wet the wick rather than dry puffing or suckling against the blocked airhole. The air hole is drilled perpendicular to the juice channels, letting you figure where the channels sit. Tilt it so the bubble reaches the channel, them roll it to get the other side.

Hey RHP, fancy meeting you here!

I think they are similar...but...the Sophia has bottom airflow, somewhat controllable, but only before you mount the coil/ceramic. I have turned mine wide open, and then use the Hippo v2 on my Provari Mini to fine tune the airflow.

The KFL+ has side airflow, controllable via a tiny set screw in the bottom of the atty. I have only had to adjust the airflow once to suit me on my initial set up. I find that the airflow control is very sensitive, a quarter turn of the screw is enough to make a big difference.

I have my KFL+ on a GP PAPS SS. Vaping it as I type. Far & away my favorite combo. Super easy to set up, not fiddly at all. I'm using a horizontal microcoil with cotton wick. I do a dry burn & re wick every other tank, as the volume is almost 5 ml. Keeps it tasting clean, and takes about 3 minutes.

Just got my KFL+ yesterday and a beautiful Turtle Ship mod to get all match-matchy. I built a 1.3 Ohm micro coil with 9 wraps using 28 gauge kanthal.

I'm using cotton ball wicks . . . and therein lies my problem. It is a fully saturated, and satisfying vape, but I can't shake these little gurgles. I do the unroll the cotton ball method, half it, then half it again, so the diameter is 1/4 of a cotton ball. I made sure that the wicks were long enough to reach the juice channels, but not cover the threads. I basically did the EXACT build in PBusardo's most recent Kayfun/Russian video. Great flavor, little (annoying as hell) gurgles.

Should I use more cotton? Will that help with the gurgles? Please help. My coil looks perfect, and is just sitting off the deck enough not to touch it. I have tried blowing it out, vaping through the air flow hole, etc and nothing seems to be working. Help me please!

What's wrong with a little gurgling? It tells me that my wick is well juiced up. It's when it goes all silent on me that I start to worry that I'm going to fry my cotton wick.

Try tightening your airflow one-quarter turn & then vape it again a few times. Repeat the tightening one-quarter turn if it is still gurgling. Worked for me.

I like an airy draw, so I had the airflow fairly open,when I tightened it slightly, the gurgles went away...

So, I have taken it all apart (so juicy) and used about twice as much cotton. I made sure to follow the silica SvoeMesto build diagram, replicating it with the cotton wicks. The gurgles are gone (so far) and the flavor is actually better. Holy crap. This is awesome. I'll update again if the gurgles come back.

It sounds like the wick/coil needs to be raised off the deck just a bit.When the wick gets fully saturated,air goes thru the wick instead of around causing the gurgling sound.
I dislike gurgling tanks,the sound drives me nuts.A co-worker uses a carto tank and it gurgles like a drowning man and he is always complaining about flooded cartos.

flooding is a good problem to have, just raise the power to consume more of the juice and it won't flood it'll vape, try a .9 coil, see how it goes.
