Kayfun LITE

Hi Everyone,

I´ve had my kayfun lite for a few weeks now. And have to ¨dry pull one in a while or else I get dry hits.

I have my full Makrolon tank on and I just noticed that every time I do a dry pull I only get bubbles from only one of the juice channels.

The problem is not severe and I do use my Kayfun but I can’t count on it for all day use because of the dry hits. So I either carry another device with me or leave it for home use because of this.

BTW I have a 28 g microcoil with about 8 wraps metering 1.3 ohms and I am running cotton.

Any suggestions?

Couple of things to try...

Try raising your coil slightly, I usually have mine about 2mm above the deck.

Also, what diameter are you wrapping your coil? I use a 1/16" drill bit, 30ga, 5 wraps, 1.5 ohms, also cotton. It's possible that your coil is too long and narrow. Don't overstuff your coil with cotton, less is more. You should be able to pull the cotton through easily. If it starts to bunch up, pull a little of it out. I cut my cotton slightly below where the first thread starts. Pull the wick upwards, slide on the first part of the chimney. Gently tuck the cotton down the insides towards the channels. Wet the wick generously with juice. I also put on drop of juice on the outside of the chimney in each channel. You should see the juice crawl inside. Finish assembly, and juice it up.

don't have time for the full explanation... read a couple pages back where we talk about this and what to do... the wicks have got to be placed right there at/on the juice inlets. got to get to work!

BTW Bronze. I've been running my KFL on my Neme clones exclusively mostly at 1.5 - 1.8 ohms so mechs are not just for sub ohming. Personally I did it for the looks. Getting a Kick2 has turned this mod into an ever customizable beast of a mod. Lately I've been setting my Kick2 to 11 watts, as that is the power I get from my current 1.2 ohm coils on a full battery and I get vape consistency and more vape time from all my batteries. Whent from using up both 18350's and 18500's on a single day to just one of each. I've been able to run a singke 18650 for almost 20 hours of vape time.

I think you'll find a lot to love about the Neme.

Truthfully, if I could go subohm on my Provari (or other regulated mods) I wouldn't bother with the Neme. But that can't happen so thus the Neme. Looking forward to it. Just got the shipping notice this morning. They are sharp looking mechs to be sure! I got the SS w/brass accents.

Try wrapping at a smaller diameter. 28g w/1.3 ohms suggests about a 2.5 - 3.0mm inside diameter wrap. Try at 1.75 - 2.0mm. Go to 10 wraps if you need to.

Ok, Finally drained the tank of the old juice, and just raised my coil off the deck a tiny bit and NO MORE GURGLES AT ALL! Thank you so much for your advice. I am now currently enjoying the best vape of my life. I cannot thank you enough for your advice. Wicks like a dream and I have one of my favorite juices in the tank (NamberJuice, Mango Jams) and a little more wick and . . . oh wow. This is the vape that I have been searching for. Again, give yourself a pat on the back, or a snoopy cheers, or something . . . because this baby has taken OFF!!! Happy vaper, omg, happy vaper here. Thank you times a million . . .

I have fired a 0.8 ohm coil with my Provari, so that is technically sub-ohm. But I do know what you meant. Glad you are trying it, I had enough after very little and moved back to ProVariland...

Yes, technically you can go subohm on the Provari. There is a 3.5 amp cutoff on the Provari. So if you set it at it's lowest voltage (2.9 volts), that will allow you to go as low as between 0.8 - 0.9 ohms (technically). I've tried this before and got it to work at 0.9ohms but only for a brief period before getting E2 errors.

Quite honestly, I have no gripes using my Provari with the Kayfun at 1.8 - 2.2 ohms. It works just fine and produces ample vapor, throat hit, and flavor. It heats up quick enough. I'm just wondering if I can get it to heat up a little quicker going subohm. I have a feeling there will be a trade off...quicker heat-up, but too warm. I'm not a fan of too warm.

I find that later in the day I like to go up in power. I do like to start the day with a lighter vape but by the afternoon I'm cranking my Kick2 to 11watts and leaving it there. I'm running my EVOD's with the HHV NET juices at 15 watts with zero issues so I'm inclined to try and modify my KFL+ slightly to get it to work at 15 watts reliably. I'm going to open up those channels just a hair with my diamond mini grinding bit kit, similar to the ones posted a few posts back.

I find that I like running at 15 watts and just taking a 2 second puff similar to what it used to be when I smoked analogs. I don't like having to drag for a long time to feel my mouth and lungs fill with vapor. A quick 2 second puff at high power produces a very satisfying flavorful vape that isn't hot at all imho. Now if you do a long drag at 15 watts and make it a lung hit prepare to be kicked in the ....

You would be the last person that I would have expected to go sub-ohm, but then stranger things have happened.

How far do I put my coil from the air hole on my kayfun???? I know the manual days 2mm or something like the thickness of a dime and a half. That is what it set at now, with 10 wraps of 30awg toothpick diameter in the coil and cotton ball wick.
My problem is that my vapor is too hot and tears up my mouth. This is 80% VG juice being vaped at like 5.5 watts across 10 coils. What else can I do to cool down this vape? The last thing I can think to try it to move the coil as far as possible away from the air hole. Any suggestions?

3/32 with 30g and 5/64 with 28g. Both work well with micros.

Are you sure you're at 5.5 watts and not 5.5 volts?

5.5 watts should be like Vaping warm air.

ok this is the dremel bit I used, sorry I don't have a better pick but it looks just like this but with the rest of the shaft too





there are other things you could use, dremel makes a little ball end carbide too. my advice is to measure the orifice, you can do a card or paper cutout showing you the exact profile you have now so you can then go and check it as you massage it, this is a good gage as to how much material you remove... you don't want to remove much, what you are removing is almost not visable to the naked eye which is why I suggest measuring or making a template so you can know when you've opened it up a sliver. all your doing here is recalibrating the kayfun for more flow but you def don't want to overdo it, you can always go back and massage a little more if need be... also if you do wind up going a little too much you can then adjust the flow back a bit in your build by stuffing a little extra wick into the wells.

don't worry too much about minor slips, if you touch the threads a bit you won't really hurt anything but this doesn't mean be careless either, just try to massage the channels a bit and keep measuring against what ever you use to gage the original... many things can be used for this, you an even stuff a piece of tin foil in the orifice to take the shape and then use this piece as a gage as you do it, you only want to add a hair to the orifice size and your only machining the vertical channel that goes up into the chamber along the threads, no need to open up the horizontal channel on the lower deck, it's already larger than the vertical which is the limiting factor here

last warning here, this mod I'm showing here is only for those who have mastered there kayfun build and simply want to recalibrate it to run a little more juice for higher watts, I do NOT recommend this to someone as a "fix" because they are having trouble with their build... this is NOT to fix a flaw in the kayfun, the kayfun works great with the right build and there is nothing necessary to fix it, if it's not working right for you then explore all the other options of building it, this is ONLY recommended to those who have their build right but can't go over 11 watts or so without starting to run dry and needing increased primer puffs

good height of the coil is ~1mm off the air hole, I try to go as low as practical without being too low, too low and the air hole can start to wick juice to it. too high and I think flavor and vapor quality drops off

you can see on my picture that I blacked out the deck with a sharpie and then made a mark slightly inboard. this is just another visual reference as I massaged the channels, I could then see even the slightest bit of material removed because I only had like 1mm between my mark and the original edge, it then becomes easier to see even a fraction of a mm removed
