Any notable kits that make for a great kayfun hybrid

-Sent from outer space using DNA20 and kayfun Lite

There's the NEM-1 adapter from fusionsmods which allows a hybrid look with a nemesis or its clone. Also team rampage and fusionsmods makes a 20x1 threading adapter for mods with 20x1 threading like the paps, caravella, Gus.

I have used that wick style quite a bit, in my experiences I didn't have that great of luck but I will give it another shot and take a picture of my current wick setup that I've been using with what is getting me the best performance. That's one of my favorite things about the kayfun is there are so many ways to use it!

How's the draw on it? Seems like airflow could be a bit restricted?

this type wick is kind of what i use in the reo and drippers. whenever i add wicking material to the sides of the coil it enhances flavor and vapor. this set up would even be better if the coil wasn't wicked itself, but just around it, that's why the vertical carto coil works really good.

I tried the vertical build and I found that it doesn't wick so well. Probably it's my wicking method that is the problem. I may need to re-visit youtube again...

the Truman coil in which the wick runs along side and thru the coil is kind of what i run in the reo and drippers, except i don't actuall run the wick thru the coil itself, just around it. i always have found better flavor with a wick being along side of a coil as well as underneath it as well. i have done this set up in the kaylite and has worked really good before, the only difference was i had left out a section of wick in the middle of the coil to get more airflow. this is why the vertical coil in the kaylite works so well, besides the fact the airflow goes straight thru the coil most of the wick surrounds the coil.

thb i couldn't get the wicking just right until i used the hemp fibers. i don't know if i just got better at wicking this coil or if it was really the hemp, all i know is that once you do get it working and wicking right, it performs extremely well. in all my micro builds it does seem like my favorites are when there is no wick actually thru the coil but around it.

I tried the carto style vertical Divrr, the build in my opinion was spot on...the vape however, and overall experience didn't perform as well as I thought it was going to, throat hit was very lite, surprising with 24mg liquid...definitely not as good as any of my other standard type micro builds, wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
This new build, for me anyway...is performing really well, like I said, much better vapor production, obviously makes sense with wicks inside and out. Always a work in process...right Divrr.

I have hit a bit of a slump using cotton ball wick in my Kayfun-type device. The first couple builds were spot on and never ran dry. However, on my last 3 builds I have to take primer pulls through the atty to keep from getting dry hits. I did try a silica build to see what the results would be, and the wicking was perfect. I just prefer the taste of my RY4 with cotton.

I am using 28g Kanthal, and one of the little blue screwdrivers that everyone has, to make a 5-wrap micro coil @ about 1 ohm. I tried to use less cotton for my last build, but still dry hits if I don't prime. I wonder if I should try more cotton....

Thanks for any input!

try more cotton! :)

Too little cotton and you might get those dry hits.

For me, more cotton causes flooding and poor airflow. I just wrapped 10 wraps of 28awg kanthal on a 1/16th drill bit for 1.2 ohms @ 10 watts is 4 volts. Vertical coil with cotton sugar and cream yarn with no wick going through the hole. Exelent vape, flavor, throat hit on 12 mg 50/50 mbv hawk sauce

I just did a another build of this. A 'half-truman' if you will. One side was standard wick w/o the u-turn and coming up over the top and the other side went over the top. This, I assume will help w/ those who get a restricted airflow with this build. It still works great. Still got improved taste and more vapor. Also I think w/ this build you have to make sure you don't use too much cotton. Has to look just like truman's picture. Nice consistent, evenly distributed flow through the wick.
It's working great for me right now.

I forgot to take a picture of mine, its beautiful. Working amazing! I did this criss cross thing with the wick that was a pain in the .... until I juiced it, then it works. Just slaying the f/v/th notes right now lol

If you're getting 1 ohm from 5 wraps your coil is huge, try a smaller diameter, 1/16th all wraps touching microcoil would take around 10 wraps to see ~1 ohm with 28ga that would be my input :)

I would say 5/64 or maybe 3/32 would be the largest the screwdriver could be. I could be wrong about the # of wraps, but by no more than 2 for sure. But, the screwdriver is what I used for the more successful builds....

I'm gonna try a different quantity of cotton in the current coil, if that don't fix it ill go down to the 1/16. Thanks.

Make sure those wicks are right down on top of those juice inlets... if the wick isn't there to sop up the juice as it's pulling up into the chamber.. it'll just figure you don't want it and go back down into the tank.

Does anyone use sugar and cream cotton yarn around here? I hate hate hate using cotton balls I never get a consistant wick with them. Just wondering what other options are out there

-Sent from outer space using DNA20 and Kayfun Lite

I use the yarn in all my kayfun's & even in my Zen....love it! Just make sure you boil it for at least 20 minutes (I also microwave for a few after boiling) & let dry completely. Some people say they don't need to boil, but I have found that if I don't boil it like mentioned above, I can really taste the cotton for a long time. The way I do it, after a few hits, no more cotton taste. :)

Sugar and Cream is processed cotton so make sure you boil it for about 20 - 30 minutes, rinse, let it dry and you should be good to go. I would luv to hear your results.

ETS - looks like tyleris12 beat me to it - so ya, what he said ;)

With cotton balls, you can usually unroll them (even if you have to pull from the middle) and instead of trying to 'pull' an even piece, cut a piece the size you want with scissors. That's how I do mine and it works great. Hope that makes sense ;)
