Q!!!!! thank you again, if it was not for your posts in July, i would not own a kayfun Lite (3). Now the R91, took a little while to warm up to the air control. But kayfun attys are great when set up correctly. My R91 was picky were the wick tails sat on the deck. The clear tank & chimney helped resolve that problem.

There have been several people on this thread through out its existence who have done a stellar job helping folks with their KFs. I count Q among them. He's definitely a good source of information.

Question for the KFL veterans.

I just recently got into RDAs from using carto tanks. I really love them and the vapor production. It was a shock that I had to drop from 18mg to 6mg juice but I have gotten used to it.

I just got a KFL yesterday and made a 1.2 ohm micro-coil 28g and used cotton for the wick. My first coil was 1 ohm 28g micro-coil and I burned the cotton right away. Anyhow, now that I have 1.2 ohm micro-coil and cotton setup like I like it I am confused about a couple of things.

With my RDAs I (Nimbus + IGO-W) I make my coils between .57 and .80 ohms and use them with my mech mod and everything is fine, tons of vapor and flavor. With my Kayfun build (28g micro-coil @ 1.2ohms) I get some vapor but it doesn't seem to be very satisfying at all. I used 6mg juice instead of 18mg juice because that's what the guy at the shop said to do.

Should I go back to 18mg with my KFL? Right now I am scared to use the KFL with my mech mod because of burning the cotton yesterday so I am using my eVic with it @ 10W but it jsut isn't cutting it. I would need to chain vape it to get the same satisfaction I get with my nimbus. Can I put the KFL on my mech mod?

I hope this makes some sense, I am new to the RBAs. I want to like this KFL but at this point I may stick to the RDAs. Thanks in advance!

18mg to 6mg is a huge jump, lots of choices in between. The only reason I can see for a big jump would be for cloud chasing, which involves a very airy draw and sub-ohm coils. The level wouldn't need to be adjusted much for a more standard dipper set-up and the Kayfun. I have lowered my nic when I got into rebuildable drippers because they produced more vapor than the regular atties I used before, but just a small jump. Went from 18mg to 15 or 16mg, and now I mainly do 12mg but still rock higher nic at times.

If you want to find a level that would work on all your devices, experiment with 9mg and 12mg, otherwise get higher nic for the Kayfun and lower nic for the drippers. Probably won't need 18mg nic for the Kayfun, 12mg and 15mg should do the trick. If not, back up to 18mg.

Is it safe to put my kayfun on my mech mod with a 1.2ohm coil and cotton? I just dont want to burn it up at work. Thanks for replying.

I do a 1ohm micro coiled with cotton on my Kayfun to use on mechs. Works perfect, haven't burned any cotton. As long as the wick is well saturated when first using and everything is wicking properly it should easily last all day without burning it.

This makes perfect sense and is super helpful! With my drippers I am using sub-ohm coils so when I used 18mg I truly did get nauseated. The 6mg I have in my KFL now just isnt cutting it but I imagine when I up the nicotine I will be happier. I have to admit I was slightly underwhelmed with the KFL but I think I know why now. I appreciate the help and PM guys! Now to find a good mech mod to buy...:)

You can always adjust your vapor intake by the draw you take.

I've left all my rebuidable drippers with the airhole they came with, instead of drilling them out. I just prefer a tighter draw, even the standard Kayfun draw is airier than I like. I got a Trident recently which is the first rebuildable with the ability to have a super airy draw for me. I put it on the biggest hole and installed a sub-ohm with 24ga Kanthal. Got out a free-sampe 0 nic juice and did some big ol' lung hits. The cloud capability is crazy, and so is how fast it went through juice. I think 18mg nic would have laid me flat with that extreme amount of vapor.

That was just for fun to try it out. It was fun for several minutes, but not something I really want to do. I really don't want that much vapor on a regular basis, add to the fact that it eats up batteries and drinks up juice so quick. I can see why that appeals to some, but I'm more into great flavor combined with a draw and throat hit that feels right to me, and a decent amount of vapor.

The Kayfun can't really be a super huge cloud machine, but it can give awesome flavor alongside a respectable amount of vapor. I think if you went down to the 1ohm area with 28ga Kanthal and upped the nic you'll be happy.

I am going to just that as soon as I get home. Thanks a lot!

Has anyone had to adjust the build based on using the nano ring kit? I have the kit from j vapes with the nano rings and short chimney. With my usual coil and cotton my flavor is way off, almost a plastic taste.
If I drain the tank and change back to stock its perfect again with out changing anything build wise. I am assuming due to the shortened chimney but I am wondering if its just me. If it matters, Im running 1.1 ohms with 28g micro coil.

I tried the "long modus" chimney extension some months back. Yes, you have to adjust for chimney change.
LITE_LARGE_MODE_1.34-coil.jpg 1.34 ohm I ran this 1 day, just to long for my OCD
I have a nano kit on 1 kayfun lite from TR. It only came with small tank sections. I am using the original chimney, but had to drill out the bottom of a delrin drip tip. The original drip tip did fit. Have you tried to use the original chimney with the nano tanks? I have also seen posted, one nano tank section + 2 original tank sections = medium size & original chimney is ok.

Dear CR and General B, Thank you!

I've been thru a whole lot of Attys, mostly hi-end, and fetching the Kayfuns around Feb/Mar-2013 changed my entire vape outlook / experience / scene. No other RBA has intrigued me as much as the K/funs and its likes. No other RBA offers as much as these li'l smart SRTAs* from the cradle of a maverick Russian modder / innovator (SM).

So much so that today I compare any & every attty with my K'funs / R-91s to justify their wherewithals... to see whether they make the grade. And tho I still buy the 'others' (never a Genny) ~ I yet revert back to my K'funs before the end of the day... that good and effective these k'funs are!

Yes, the Russian/s are a clone, sorry for that, but they did good with their produce too and thus are hand-in-hand with my K'funs! Ditto with the Aqua ~ a nice 'one-up' system to the K'funs, albeit taken hints from it. But I'd relegate them to the 'sporting vaper', times when we need to do a mouthful(!)... but for every thing else - there's the -Mastercard-oops the Kayfun!

I agree Q. There's the KFun and then there is everything else. Seems the KF took all the positive qualities of every other juice feeder and incorporated it in one design. I'm still not sure what category it goes in. Could be a clearo. Could be a bottom coil. Could be a CE3 style. Could be a dripper, RDA, RBA, ABC, XYZ.

The only thing it does not have in common with any of the other devices is that it does not leak.

Anyone know how to maintain mtank? Have a couple of fine scratches on them. I bought a headlight restoration kit but it made 1 of my tanks foggy

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I actually just got a foggy kayfun tank and chimney. I wanted it clear. I got some wet sandpaper in 1500 and 2000 grit. Used those, then got this 3 step system called Novus. They had a little trial package on eBay for a couple bucks. I used steps 2 and 3 and it made it pretty clear. I'm guessing since you're using it for scratches you should use all 3 (step 1 is for heavy scratches, but it does state on label not for polycarbonate) Try that.

The longer I have my KFL, the more I realize it is the best money I have ever spent on any vape gear (along with my Provari). Expensive? You better believe it! But in the end, dollar for dollar, they do everything you could expect and more. True workhorses. No surprises. No disappointments. Same delicious hit pull after pull after pull...without fail.

Same thing I recommended 2 posts ago...late to the party, little brother! Seriously, great minds think alike...!
