Thanks for the responses guys.

Same fill levels & juices/wicking, there's really nothing that's changed, that's why I was stumped.
I would have to agree this is normal, or at least it makes sense with all the variables with tank pressure, or lack thereof.
Of course the reason for all this happening is my funny habit of liking a few of my tobacco mixes tasting
a little "fired" when the coil and wick are in their perfect state of "gunkiness". I'm weird, I know.

The problem would go away totally if I burned my coils and changed my wicks a little sooner lol.
I even tried various levels of FA's "Black Fire" in my mixes, and it did give me a more accurate
analog cigar taste, but not as accurate as that short time-span at the end of the coil/wick's life.
Again, I'm weird.

Thanks again for the responses guys, it's just one of those things I guess.
Nothing has changed, but something has changed!
We can put this one to rest, but I'm still going to wonder why this started to happen in both atty's
at the same time with absolutely zero change in anything I'm doing.

I should probably just burn & rewick sooner, problem solved.

Have a great day guys.

My 2nd dual coil like this on KFL and its awesome.. 16 wraps (2x8), 28g, .7 Ohms.. Awesome flavor and throat hit! Could be just a hair tighter but didn't want to smash it up.

Jarbs, congrats on your transition to the kfl+ but a couple things to note about your coil.

Picture 1: You may want to squeeze the coils together after firing it, so that there's no hot and cold coils.

Picture 2: The lead from the coil seems to be laying on the deck. You may want to raise that off the deck, again to eliminate any shorts..

Other than that it looks great.. :)

Well, there's also the fact that his right side lead is wrapped counter clockwise while the left one is wrapped correctly, clockwise.

Clockwise better than counterclockwise.. But, we'll leave that for later, once he fixes his coil. ;)

Hey all :)

I've been using the same coil/wick style for months in both my KFL+'s, and have never had a single issue.
With the help of everyone here, it's great to know that I have atty's that I KNOW will never end up in my atty graveyard,
no matter what the industry brings in the future...

So, I searched the thread again, and couldn't find my answer. (yeah it's probably in here somewhere, lol)

Both of my KFL+'s developed the exact same issue at the same time, and it's never happened before.
Juice from the chamber wicking is migrating out of the channels back into the tanks.
It's has no bearing on performance, just making me scratch my head.

I do, in fact, take the cotton wicking past it's "happy point" on some of my tobacco blends, I always have.
For some strange reason, I like the taste of some tobacco juices when the wick is needing replacement.
I will continue to vape on the old wick until I get a burnt taste, which is usually about 2-4 more ml's.
You can call me crazy, but that's another story.

I mention this because, as you can imagine, the juice in the chamber is darker and easily seen
when it migrates back into the tank.

If I've always been doing this, and never had juice escaping back into the tank, why would both
the atty's display this issue at the same exact time?

All I can think of is that the chimney o-rings in the top cap have both failed at the exact same time?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Have a good day everyone...

have you tightened up your airflow any? sometimes a tighter airflow can make the juice rise up higher in the chamber on a draw, and then suck back gunk. when a kayfun has the ideal feed then the juice will not rise up as high in the chamber and the tails of the wick are rarely gunked enough to transfer back to the tank. for a kayfun to feed well it only needs the juice to rise up to the tails, the wick will bring it up to the coil. what you are describing sounds like either your tails are not at the bottom of the wells or you are drawing too hard. you can try drawing a little less suction or opening up your airflow slightly if you have that option. are you doing a lot of dry pulls to prime? this can sometimes cause the wick to float up and no longer sit at the bottom of the well too, also causing something like you describe. that's all I got :)

No no no. COUNTER clockwise! Clockwise can pull the wire when screwing down and deform the coil. So Says I!

I would have been soooooo ****ed if you were my sergeant major during bunk checks...............

I do it clockwise too. While it's true screwing down the screw will shift the coil, doing so with a screw driver still in the coil allows you to get a really tight and firm coil that can be easily realigned without messing up the coil
