I just tried playing with the grub screw for air control. The only way I got the whistle to stop was by tightening it all the way in..so, it goes past the little air "tunnel" and up into the body of the Lite. Anything towards the bottom causes the low whistling sound. The draw is very similar to the regular KFL's that I have in the position that it is now. Works for me! Let me know what works for you when you start using it.

I remember reading in this thread that someone who had a whistle dismantled the KFL completely, and found a bit of metal shaving in the air hole...the one that is the center pin. Another simply turned the center pin a bit. It's not meant to be adjustable, but apparently you can turn it just a tiny bit and perhaps diminish the whistle.

Hi All. I am looking for a suggestion for a coil build to allow me to run a kayfun on my new Wizard Evolved II at greater than 20w. With my current build, if I go over 16w or 17w, I get dry hits after a few puffs. I would like to give 20-30 watts a try. Any instructions and pics would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i run a 26g 2mm diameter coil on my futura dna-20 at 20 watts. the resistance on this coil is about 1.1Ω. i also run a 26g/ 1.8mm diameter coil on a mech at .6 ohms which is not to much difference then the dna at 20 watts, so at 30 watts couldn't tell ya. when i want 30 watts i go to my aqua tank with dual coils. one note though, i have enlarged the channels in my kayfuns which i believe allowes for better wicking.

None of mine whistle ..... now. ;) One or two did at the beginning but they don't anymore. Not sure why, just breaking in maybe? After a few fills and rinses it should stop. Patience Dusty-san. :vapor:

I haven't tried the new one yet, it just came this morning (shhhhh - don't tell Akdare, the thought of him out amongst the oak trees burning stuff still makes me giggle :)) but I can let you know in a day or two. I'm waiting on an order of Suicide Bunny juices for it, but that just hit customs today.

Would it be even funnier if Akdare were a her instead of a him? 'Cause she is... ;)

What's the secret to stopping that very faint whistling in the Lite +?!

i also get a faint whistle but have kind of gotten used to it, i have however also heard of a possible remedy, i think someone had slightly beveled the end of the adjustable screw, but i really don't know for sure.

Yowsers! What, were you blocking the ambulance entrance at a hospital or something? I'll be sure to avoid Durham next time I pass through NC.

Hahaha. I was parking in a parking lot. Except the spot I parked on wasn't marked. It was literally at a little corner right beside a parking spot. And I was riiiight at a corner. The only thing I could've blocked were the army of squirrels scampering arkund

So they give the squirrels right-of-way in your neck of the woods? Wow, but that's a steep fine. If Durham needs revenue that badly, maybe set up more speed traps or stop light cameras. Er, no. Forget I said that.

So....KFL.

I decided to put a new coil in my oldest KFL this morning. Not that I needed to, the vertical coil has been working fine for a month or two. But I just got a new coil jig and wanted to play. I mounted a horizontal coil just to see if I would still like it. Nope. Just not as much flavor. So I went back to the vertical coil and

The air is reduced at the outlet not at the intake to maintain high velocity stream on the coil, this is my second one using 1.2 mm draw tube from Taifun GT.
Kayfun conversion in Hercules.

Here's the other one, 1.5 mm draw tube.
These conversion kits just too airy the way the came, I could almost do lung hits (almost)

Oh... Was it the screw that was supposed to be beveled?
I slightly champhered the air hole on the outside of the unit.
It definitely changed the pitch of the music, but it's still there.
It's a higher pitch now, and it's a little less annoying to me, but apparently my wife has dog ears,
for it will wake her up from a deep sleep everytime.

How many nights did I lay there completely focusing on that perfect draw that didn't make the KF sing?
Wait you dummy, put your favorite bedtime juice in the other KF that doesn't whistle...

The pitch of one's hearing is proportional to the distance between one's ears. Broadly speaking, most female heads are smaller than male heads, hence a female's hearing is a higher range. This is also why "silent" dog whistles work.

Raleigh nailed me with a stop light camera. I keep meaning to go back and pop that camera from behind with my 357.
