Height above the airhole is the biggest factor for taste vs vapor production vs throat hit. If you're not getting much taste try moving the coil away from the airhole.

Thanks, I'll try that, too. I'll also read through the thread for some more information. This will probably take me a while!

Thanks for the reply. It's not leaking now. It only leaked when I tried to adjust the air flow screw on the bottom to tighten up the draw. I'm not quite sure how the air flow screw is supposed to work, but I now have it so that there isn't any leak, but the draw is a bit too airy for me. Next time I take it apart, I'll check the orings. Yes, it is a genuine Svoemesto KFL plus (second batch), and it seemed to be leaking at the bottom. I guess I expected much more flavor, but I'll give it some time. If you have any tips on how to use the air flow screw, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Some people remove the screw altogether but if you do that I suspect you'll think it is too airy. I had mine all the way out and thought it was a little airy. I screwed it all the way in and thought it was too tight. So I have mine in the middle. Just count the turns. try it in different spots to see what suits you. Are you getting any dry hits? The most common problems with wicking the Kayfun are:

1) The cotton is too thick for the coil. When you slide the cotton through, there should be minimal resistance. It should slide back and forth through the coil with ease. No bunching.

2) The length of the wick should be no wider than the overall width of the deck (a little shorter). Be sure you bend them over and have them rest ON (not IN) the juice channels. You don't want to block the channels.

In general, folks tend to use too much cotton in their builds. The coil will choke off wicking to the cotton and/or the juice channels will get blocked. Err on the side of using less cotton than more cotton.

Mine's a clone (Tobeco), not a "real" one, but I've had zero leaks, which is a nice change of pace after those kanger tanks. :D I have the airflow almost closed, maybe about 3/4 closed, and I usually try to get the coil as high off the air hole as it will possibly reach. To me the flavor is SUPERB, so I know that I'll be buying more of these KFL+ !

The only kind of "leaking" (or gurgling) I've ever seen is actually just the excess after I put in a new wick and get a little carried away with priming it. I don't really mind, since that keeps it from giving me that dry hit business, so I just blow out whatever excess there may be. Once I can take a pull and there's no gurgle at all, all's good, amazing taste, amazing throat hit. I did decrease my PG a little; now, instead of 85/15 PG/VG, it's about 67/33 PG/VG, and still have a great throat hit.

Definitely more kayfuns in my future. :D

I do it the same way Dragon. It seems the simplest way to do it. But like everything else in vaping...to each their own.

I never had a torch but used a lighter to set the coil when I first got my KFL. Was a waste of time IMO, Now I just fire (the mod) and squeeze twice.:)

Good to hear that you've gotten things working well for you. I know you were frustrated initially but sounds like folks walked you through the tough parts. Did I see you got a mini clone. Still having trouble with that?

No, I got a full sized, then I got the kit to make it a Nano. Never did resolve the problem there; maybe just over-wicking, I dunno. I was thinking that since I have the nano chimney, I might get one of those nano tanks that kinda bulge out, give it a little more capacity without making it any taller. I guess learning to make the wick exactly right every time is just something I'll learn over time. But it's definitely worth the frustration, truly amazing vape. Part of my earlier problems with it was because I was using such a high level of PG, just to get a decent throat hit out of those T3S tanks; 85% PG in the kayfun was choking me up! :D It's great now, using the 67PG/33VG mix.

Now I gotta figure out how to do this Caterpillar so *it* doesn't choke me up. I wanted it so I could more easily taste new juices, but it gives me an asthma attack just about every time I hit it.

Just got my first RDB, Kayfun Lite Plus V2. Building the coil and wicking was pretty easy, 1.3ohm with cotton. Apparently I got it right my first try, been vaping on it all last night and this morning. No leaking, dry hits or anything, just great. The only problem I really have with it, is the center screw at the top of the build block, sticks out of the build blocks about 1mm or so, I really have to pull the coils off the block quit a bit. Whatever works tho I guess.

Thanks to the forums, it made this smooth sailing. So Far...:)

Huh ? Are the post screws too long or is the center post itself protruding ?

The center post screw is too long, sticks above the build block. The one with the airhole (not the post screws that the coil screws into).
Could that be dremeled down to flush with block?

This is not mine but a photo from google of the build deck. The center screw on mine stick ups much further.

Umm, hate to tell you this but that's a design improvement made in the V2 version of the EHPro clone ;)

It makes it less likely to flood and leak since the level of liquid in the chamber has to be that much higher to get into the hole. It was first introduced in the black edition clone offered by Artemis.

Edit: made clear that I was talking about the EHPro clone, not original.

I thought the opposite was true. I seem to get more flavor with the coil/wick closer to the air hole.

I believe you. I find everything about vaping to be matter of opinion. :)

    :) Here's one more opinion:

~Wicks 'closer' to the air-hole ...= More Vapor
~Wicks 'away' from the air-hole = More TH

Taste/Flavor = Build dependent, but closer the air-hole the better

    LOL! :)

From there, it's just a matter of what people prefer. Myself, flavor rules. TH is second, vapor is (a distant 3rd). And it wont be long before someone tells me I have it all wrong.
