The only things that come to mind is either you're getting too much juice in the chamber (but then it would likely gurgle) or you are taking some pretty hellacious draws and sucking up a little juice. Perhaps a little jiggling of the wick will help dam up any juice that works its way up the sides. Or open up the airflow a little and take longer (less hellacious) draws. This has never been an issue with me so my advice is worth what you paid for it.

Probably the hellacious draws. Sometimes the old habit kicks in without even realizing it, and I start sucking on it like it's a cigarette or a straw in a thick milkshake. I did open the airflow a bit today when i was trying the nano again, thinking that might help it. It didn't, and I was so annoyed I plumb forgot to close it down again, so it's still open-ish. Moreso than before, anyway. I was thinking it might be because of my narrow drip tips; they're the pyrex "piccolo" kind, very slender. When it happens I just replace the driptip, usually with one with a slightly wider bore. I'ver got quite a selection now, and now that it's warm weather, I don't find the metal ones nearly as objectionable as I did in the winter/early spring.

Yes, it's pretty typical to have a transition period. Vape draws are definitely different than cigarette draws (they're longer). Hot boxing doesn't work well with vaping. It takes a little time to find an air draw that is comfortable for you. I think as long as you're willing to try different settings you will be OK once you have it dialed in.

There has been every conceivable Kayfun build attempted and reported on this thread. I tried something a little different and want to chronicle it in this thread as a contribution to the vast knowledge gained and shared with my fellow Kayfunners past, current, and future.. I wanted to see how long I could make a coil last. To refresh, my coil is a 30ga, 10 wrap, 2.0mm (5/64ths) ID coil. I've used primarily silica wick but have also run cotton as well. I built this coil on December 1, 2013 and it is with great sadness that I announce I had to euthanize it tonight. There were two reasons. The primary reason was that it was no longer glowing from inside out as it had been to this point. The glow started on one side and worked its way to the other end. Efforts to re-crimp and repair went without reward. The second reason is I'm getting resistance creep. The coil started as a 2.0ohm coil and it is now worked its way up to 2.4ohms. I'm sure I could get continued use out of this coil, but decided to retire it to the stud farm because building a new coil is essentially effortless, inexpensive, and why settle for anything less than perfect?

Anyhow, thought you'd be interested. Very few people use a coil till the end of its useful life so I wanted to get it chronicled.

Rest in Peace.
My sincere condolences on the passing of your coil. May it find peace with the other coils who served so bravely in the face of adversity.

I have a friend who just can't use a kfl. She's used carto tanks for a couple years now and is so used to sucking like (golf ball through a rubber hose) that she floods the chamber in no time. Once she complained about flooding and burnt hits.. I took it apart and the wicks were standing straight up! She had sucked so hard she sucked the wicks right up into the chimney!

ROFLMAO!!!!! And I thought I was bad. :D

EDIT: Now that I've recovered from my belly laughs... heh.. well sorta... this does give me some insight on what might be "wrong" with the nano. Maybe I'm just sucking on the damn thing too hard! Must investigate further. Tomorrow.

Hey Andria, I just noticed that you are in Lawrenceville, GA. Epipemods has a store there at 332 Swanson Dr, Lawrenceville, GA 30043. You should take your nano and go in. Tell them Dusty from ECF recommended that you come see them. I'm sure somebody there will be able to help you with your questions and provide some quality info on building it.

Give Matt and Katie a hug from me, and enjoy the absolutely beautiful steampunk lounge they have there. Maybe even pick up a pipe or three. :D

You need to be looking for a guy called Chris, and if you see a crazy Monkey called SimianSteam.. give him a hug as well. ;)

I'm still getting used to the Kayfun Lite Plus. I like the fact that I don't have to buy atomizers, and I enjoy building the coil, which was surprisingly easy, but I'm having problems adjusting the air flow. I'm used to the Nautilus, with a tighter draw, and the KFL+ is really airy and I can hear the air flow through it. There's no whistle sound, just the air. The Nautilus is much quieter when using the smaller air hole. I'd appreciate any suggestions on using the air flow adjustment screw.

Yeah I go there (SteamCigs) about once a month to re-stock on Oak Barrel Cider. :thumb: Chris is the long-haired brit or aussie or whatever he is, right? Is Matt the cute younger guy, curly hair? I think he's waited on me twice.

Simian Steam I've encountered at the Georgia Vaper's Forum, but wouldn't know him if I saw him. :D

Maybe I'll go over there next Thurs evening, when they're having their workshop. I have to say, I haven't really felt all that welcome; when I first went there, I had an eRoll, and I think all the mod types were laughing at me. I didn't know what kind of e-juice to buy, having never bought any, and the Oak Barrel Cider seemed more like what I was used to with cigarettes than anything else -- I still mix it with my Virginia, along with a touch of Cinnamon Redhot. But they insisted that I needed 18mg, which made me so ill it almost cured me of e-cigs for good. So did 12mg -- I couldn't start using e-cigs regularly till I finally got some 6mg. That kinda bugged me about them insisting I needed 18mg, which was so far above what I actually needed, it's a wonder I didn't get a toxic overdose (to me, nausea/vomiting is LITERALLY a fate worse than death -- I would rather DIE than ever have to do that again!).

It just seemed kind of a clique-ish place to me... if you aren't part of their "mod clique", they aren't terribly welcoming. :( But, I'd still rather buy my Oak Barrel Cider there than have to pay shipping to buy it online.

I lived right down the road from Athens for 13 yrs, in Winder (about halfway between Lawrenceville and Athens). One of those towns that if you blink slowly, you might miss it. :D We had to drive to Athens several times when our son was in high school, when he was singing with the Honors Chorus at the Classic Center, and never failed to get lost everytime we entered Athens' city limits. :D

Screw the AFC screw farther in to get a tighter draw. I personally like a airy draw though, I always just take my screw out.

Oh I know where Winder is :) Last time I was near there I remember seeing a lot of growth in that area. I'm sure it's even more now 5 years later.

Thanks for your reply! I experimented with that today. At first, I thought that if I screwed it out, I would get a tighter draw, and then I discovered that it is just the opposite. I think I have it adjusted just right now. :)

Hmm.. we haven't lived out there in about 6 yrs, though I go twice a year for my checkups, still have a doctor out there. It does grow, but slowly, probably because of the stupid economy. But I've noticed new construction lately here in Gwinnett county, and that's always a good sign. We're just glad my husband no longer has that 24 mile commute, that really adds up.

Just thinking...will the Provari fire at 1.2? That's about the cut off right?

Cutoff is at 0.8 I believe- mine will fire at 0.8 anyway- I've read where people have for them to fire down at 0.7 but haven't had the chance to try mine that low. I try and stay between 0.9 and 1.1 dual coil
