Let me try a little less cotton. Ive tried it before, but my coil would make the hissing sound after being fired. I also noticed that I would still get burnt hits as if there wasn't enough cotton making contact with the coil.

There really is a fine little between too much, and too little cotton in the KFL.

I'll post up more pictures after I recoil to my preferred resistance.

After every refill I blow through the tip 3 times out the air hole. Never have wicking issues after filling. I used to do that all the time because in the begining I always over filled it and it would come out the tip. Figured out the filling issue and stopped overfilling. So I stopped blowing through the tip and would have wicking issue for the first 30 minutes. Went back to blowing through the tip and now no wicking issues after filling.....

I do this because I make *sure* a new wick is THOROUGHLY saturated before I even put the thing back together, because I had quite enough dry hit burnt tastes with the T3S's thankyouverymuch, and I really don't want more. That thorough saturation means a bit of gurgle though, if I don't do exactly as you said, blow thru the tip, with it help upside down, until little spatters stop flying out. Once I do that, no gurgles, and no burnt taste. Perfect.

I asked up in the General Discussion area but never really got an answer to this question.

What exactly is the difference between a Kayfun, a 3.1, Lite, Lite plus, Lite Plus V2...it's all so confusing.

Trying to decide on my first Kayfun purchase.

To begin, the Kayfun Lite no longer exists. They obsoleted it in favor of the Kayfun Lite Plus. All they did was add an airflow control and an oring around the fill screw to the Kayfun Lite and called it a Kayfun Lite Plus. Mighta been a slight design change in the top cap too but minor in nature.

The 3.1 differs from the Kayfun Lite Plus in a few ways. It's a little larger and has a fill hole in the side. Kind of like a sealed hole you can stick a thin tip in and fill your Kayfun. I don't own a 3.1 so I'm sure there are other things but I can't think of them. Probably not that important. I believe the 3.1 also has an air flow control..perhaps also on the side. the 3.1 also adds to the cost...perhaps $30 bucks give or take.

Others who have a 3.1 should come along and add to my comment.

Lol- how it vales is more important than how it looks. Only you can answer that.
If you do try doing the dual coil again- turn turn the coil so it runs between the screws, longways like the pics I put up last night and use a little less cotton; try it at a 10/11 wrap. Looks like you got the height down good though!
How's the vape? That's what is really important.

To me it looks like a 2mm ID, 28ga, 8/9 wrap. Beyond that, she looks real nice. :)

The coil is lifted off the deck pretty high. I would think you'd want to experiment with that going forward. Lower it a little next time and note any differences you might pick up.

Yes, the 3.1 has the air flow control and the fill hole on the side

You think, lower?
I dunno personal preference I like mine as high as I can go without it hitting the chimney cap- makes it nice and warm. Reminds me if a dripper the way the vape hits with the coil high.

I think... your coil is too high (above air hole) and your cotton wick thickness looks good but too long. Long enough to just touch the deck.
(That is how I do it)

Ask ten people what happens when you lift the coil higher...five of them will say it makes it warmer, more throat hit, and less flavor. The other five will say it makes it cooler, less throat hit, and more flavor. :)

Funny thing is, I believe all ten of them. That's why people should experiment to see what they like (or if they even notice a difference). Perception is such an odd thing, no?

I try to remember to do the same thing.... what I do...what works for me. Somebody (not me) said it's really hard to set a kayfun up wrong...I agree...
Yeah tell me about it-
That's why I always preference advice with statements like, "what I do," or,"what works for me." Stuff like that. And when I ask for advice i tend to focus the answers I get on technique or how something works then see what works for me.

Exactly. I try to stay away from absolutes the best I can. At least as it pertains to perceptual things. While I wouldn't say the Kayfun is the best juice feeding device ever made, I would say it is very popular and many find it to be the best device they have owned. I think the latter would be accurate.

But that's because 50% of people are total idiots. And the other 50%, is 50% idiot. :D
