Still enjoying crxess' "nest" wicking method.

With a stock KFL and a wide bore drip tip, I thought that was as good as it was going to get. Well, the nest has definitely added to my KFL vaping experience. Now, if the modified center, which I'm waiting for, improves upon this set-up, I'll be quite the pleased vaper. One KFL for regular vaping and one for lung hits.

I was never successful in building kayfun with Rayon.
I followed your advise and trimmed my wicks (outside the coil) this time.
Do you see anything wrong?

Not sure who you asked but when I use rayon in my lites, I add a bit more lenght and slightly more density. Not a whole lot more density but maybe you trimmed just a tad to much. Also although I do thin out the tails, I personally don't trim to a point, I keep them squared off. I think because your tails are slightly off the deck and are pointed that they may not be add soaking as much as they could. For me the trickier part is getting the right amount in the coil with rayon. If you have to much the flavor is muted and if not enough, dry hits. You definitely need more then cotton but you also can't jam and pack super the coil either. Usually if you don't have quite enough in coil, things are good for like 20 vapes then dry hits, this is because the rayon slightly shrunk.

Do those look like 4 intake ports? and are those threads on the chimney? Gaaahhh..need a clearer pic of one!

I'm gonna guess:

threaded chimney (with an enlarged opening, of course)
several juice channels that feed into a larger build deck
22mm deck (as seen on the bottom section)
tank will sit on the deck lip and secured down with the chimney threading and threading just below the liquid channels

so, could that mean the ability to dissemble w/o draining?

If so, that basically solves the three major drawbacks of the kayfun (tight draw, having to drain when working on the deck, and the problematic top cap o-ring).

i was thinking the same about the threaded top part of chimney and it being able to be secured while unscrewing the base thus, like you said, being able to change wick without draining.

Very excited about the potential for a new kayfun that can be taken apart without draining, but the only issue I see is potentially disturbing the wicks when putting it back together. Normally you can take the chimney cap off and rearrange the wicks or at least double check and make sure they are OK, but that wouldn't be possible if taken apart when full.

Either way I can't wait for a new kayfun release!

So I am having issues with my vertical coil in my kayfun. It is 1.0 ohms running it on a nemesis and I am getting burnt cotton at the top of it. Anyone have advice?
That seems to a common issue with verts. The only thing I do is try to add a tiny bit more around and slightly higher while still keeping the hole exposed.

I've only run one vertical coil so far but I used more cotton and pretty much filled the chimney with KGD, up to the top end of the coil (but no farther). You can do that of course since all the air flow is through the coil's center. Worked fine for two days but I went back to a horizontal for the sake of convenience when changing wicks.

1.0 ohm might be running a little warm with a fresh battery if it's a tall coil.
