Yes, Provari uses PWM. Somewhere in the belly of their website they state they incorporate PWM. But it is at a VERY high frequency rate so if you mapped it on a scope it would appear flat (unlike the cheapy mods like the old VAMO and Lavatube or today's istick).

Sixth question down. Frequently Asked Questions

hahaha... Very High Frequency (VHF) actually means something in this context, and I don't think they are meeting the requirements. That would put their PWM cycles between 30MHz and 300MHz. I haven't checked a Provari's internals (pre-smoothing) on a scope personally, but last I read, they didn't even hit 1MHz, actually I want to say that they weren't even hitting 1KHz. Either way, doesn't matter... they are going 'fast enough' and I think they have added components to smooth the output as well, which is great.

To be Very High Frequency... that's also a defined term when talking about the speed of a signal cycling, be it AC (going above and below 0) or PWM's going above and at 0. It's basically a joke about VHF being between 30MHz and 300MHz... e.g., if the Provari is using PWM at (let's say) 800Hz, that's 0.8KHz or 0.0008MHz or (30,000,000 / 800 ) 37.5 times too slow to be at the bottom of 'very high frequency' (30MHz),...

Purely semantics to me. I'm not an electrical engineer. Let's just say the Provari cycles significantly more than those old VAMO's and Lavatubes. Does that work for you? :)

Sure does :)

I like what you said before too though! I really appreciate that they admit to using PWM, although I don't care how they achieve the output voltages, so long as they are useful for the intended purpose :vapor: and that they are! You might even say they were 'trend setting' ;)

The Istick has the same limitations as the DNA 30. 4v minimum. Most people that buy a DNA 30 device knows it doesn't step down but the average Istick buyer doesn't and some complain about it. The Istick does Vavg rather than RMS so the 3v Vavg (Mean) is actually closer to 4v. That's why I vape at lower wattages on the Istick.

I just called the shop and they sold their last DNA 30 a day ago. Whew, dodged that bullet :p. They did say that they should be getting the rDNA 40 next week sometime.

If you want to save a few bucks, Focalecig is having a group buy on their Hana clone made by KSD for $37.90. It's shipping from China so figure about 3 weeks. They have a US warehouse that has a silver for $45 and black for $48. There is a code for 10% off but it doesn't work for stuff in the US warehouse (code: fcvapingcheap)

Focalecig -Best E-Cigarettes - Worldwide Free Shipping
$42.27 (Ship from USA)HANAA MODZ DNA30 Mod - Silver(18650)
$47.27 (Ship form USA)HANAA MODZ Pack DNA 30 Style Mod - black

I ordered a blue one from China so I can mod it. $43.99 shipped.

I should mention, I found out that this clone might still have the pause to fire from sleep issue. I say "might" because the guys I've heard it from ordered theirs a couple of months ago.

Thanks for posting this, just ordered a 35W from china, surprisingly affordable with the coupon code. I like to drip nets.

Very high frequency in this context doesn't mean VHF it just mean the PWM is fast. This is why I believe the Provari became popula (DNA too), I reall believe the flavor is better than a nemmy kick operating at 35khz. Can't say why but I always thought my nemmy tasted better without the kick (flat DC.)

Made a quick wicking top-view chart for kayfun any version. I was bored so I hope this helps if anyone is having issues.
I know there are many different ways to wick a Kayfun but this is how I do it and its been a flawless flavorful vape.

I use the Bunny Ears Method and trim the excess cotton tails from the very top of the chimney.

Coil is gray
Wicking material is blue

Always move the wick tails away and out of the juice flow channels - This creates better flow - See red on chart
Keep the wick tails pushed, best as possible to the positive and negative build walls on the sides - See green on chart
Try to keep wicking material from going past the yellow line toward the red juice flow channels.
A micro Flathead screwdriver works well when positioning your wicks. When done juice and test !!!

I find the kayfun works either way with or without the juice channels blocked. Biggest issue users have is not using enough wicking material

Yup/ I always put Rayon all over the top of the juice channels, never had an issue... I'll see if I can post a pic shortly for example.

"I know there are many different ways to wick a Kayfun but this is how I do it and its been a flawless flavorful vape." For me covering the juice channels lessens the wicking ability of my Kayfun. Figured it might help someone who is new and starting out. :2cool:

I experimented with wick volume again. I'm using ... cotton and each time I rewicked I would use a little less. I finally burned it up and felt there was still a good amount in there. Jacked the volume back up and no problem. Bottom line: if you are burning up your cotton or getting a burnt taste then add cotton.

BTW,this is the third time I experimented with wick volume using both cotton ball and ... cotton. The results were the same. More is better than less.

What did I miss.....lol. Are we debating "more is less" again? My biggest concern is which Japanese cotton pad to purchase -- I'd stopped worrying about wick volume a few pages ago.....
