Kayfun problem that needs help

The very small O-ring in the top cap is there and looks healthy. I switched out the very large one for no reason. As soon as I put the PG in the tank it started pouring out the one air hole I had open. And of course I got all the gurgling and loose draw of a disaster set up. So...I don't know when I'll make it into my local shop again but I'll sure let you know if they figure out the problem. Thanks again!

Yes, I also had one of the 2 airhole versions from EHPro. They do exist

I have 3 EHPro KFL+ V2 RBAs. The first one that I bought had a single airhole. Next 2 had dual airholes. All work really well and are about the same in terms of airflow.

You have 3 EHpro KFL's and I have one. If you would send me your KFL with only the one air hole, we would each have 2. Doesn't that sound more equal to you?

Something's screwy with that Kayfun. I have an EHPro Kayfun 3.1, which is similar. I have one air hole and an allen screw air adjustment next to that. I've had slow leaking occur once and it was the o-ring inside the top cap. I replaced it with one from an aftermarket kit and it leaked worse, but that kit came from an Ebay source and the o-rings were different than the originals.

I scrounged around and found the box that it came in and there was a large o-ring just like the one in the top cap that was leaking vacuum. Replacing that fixed the problem.

You can also have serious leaking problems if the o-rings that seal the center sections have slipped and gotten cut slightly during maintenance. Sometimes, I will notice that my polycarbonate insert has stuck a loop outside when screwing the tank back on. Be aware of that possibility. Even if you notice it, back off, and fix it immediately, there could be a cut in one of the tank o-rings.

Thanks, Dave. The problem is, I've got about a million O-rings and have none that look exactly like the ones on this Kayfun. When I take it in to the shop, if they find out the problem is an O-ring, then I'll stock up on those. But until I know for sure, I can't see buying any more O-rings because for now it's just all guesswork.

Roxy....do you vape Reo's? I just built a 1.5 ohm on my RM2 and the vape is to die for. I'm using an eFest 1100 mAh 3.7 hi-drain Li-Mn battery. Is that okay for vaping at 1.5 ohms?

Yes, I have a Reo. Is that an 18490 battery? I'll go look it up, but I'm sure 1.5 ohm is no problem. That's not even 3A.

Its an 18500 and I'm not finding an official amp rating. Somewhere here said its 11A. I would say to be safe, don't subohm with it, but 1.5 ohm should not be a problem at all.

Thanks Roxy. It's too bad they don't put the Amps on the batteries. I guess some are starting to though, which will be nice. The more I learn about sub-ohming the more I don't think I need to do that. Even a low ohm like 1.2 ohm eats too much juice. Who needs that?

I admit I like my Reo attys between 0.7-1.2 ohms. If you want to go lower at some point the AW IMR 18490s are rated higher.

All these batteries need to have a published continuous discharge rating for safety reasons.

Google Lightning Vapes in south Florida. They sell kits of Kayfun o-rings for $2 a set. There's two sets of rings in a kit. I ordered 4 sets for $8 a while back and they work well. Unless yours is a bad copy of the standard, they should work. My Kayfun is an EHPro V3.1 and they fit.

I agree that you should take it in drained and clean and let the shop guys try some o-rings for a good fit. A slight air or liquid leak can wreak havoc. I've ordered o-rings from several places. Some are thick and others are thin. I've found that the thinner ones and the thicker work fine on the polycarbonate tank insert and the bottom cap. Go figure. it's not so easy with the top cap chimney seal. You have to have the right ones for it.

Thanks Dave. Good idea to clean the Kayfun all up before taking it in to my local shop. Thanks also for the tip about Lightning Vapes. Hopefully if my shop decides it's an O-ring problem, they'll give me a few? As cheap as O-rings can be gotten from China, I don't know why the atty manufacturers can't afford to put a whole lot more than 2 extra O-rings in their Kits. Grrrrr....

Yes, its the amp drain.

Well, if that Efest amps rating is correct (bearing in mind Efest usually gives you the pulse rating rather than the continuous one), then:

R = E ÷ I. R is resistance, E is voltage and I is current. So:

R = 4.2v ÷ 15A = 0.28 ohm

0.28 ohms would be maxing the battery. I do like to have a safety buffer

Thank you! I copied your work for studying. That makes me feel better. I have 4 of those batteries and I will more than likely never ever go under 1.0 ohm. And I sure won't go anywhere near .2 or .4 ohms

Thank you so much for educating me. I read thru a lot of those articles they give here on one thread but can't find one that just tries to simplify things a little bit and explain things in general terms. Each article seems to cover a different subject and I guess we're supposed to put it all together. I know you won't believe this but my brother is an electrician. And no, I haven't discussed this stuff with him yet but I will soon if I can.
