Did wrapped my twisted 30g 11 times on 1.6 but was was over my target of 1.1-1.2 lol. I had to unwrap it a couple of times now its sitting on 1.3 on my ohm reader and 1.2 on provari. Slower inital fire up time compared to the 28g at 1.1 but understandable considering more mass n surface area. Original wick and 1st tank was 1.2ohm then I figured I'd change the wick since the first wick was kinda tight and was paranoid it would choke and rewicked. Doing that bumped it up to 1.3ohm...bummer.

To be honest I can't tell which gave me better taste and more vape. My mind makes me believe that the twisted wire should be more of both since its thicker and more surface area, but the 28g had a lot of vape and taste too with shorter draws. Eh whatever too lazy to switch back now lol.

I tried another build this morning using Truman's extended wicks method (28 gauge kanthol on a 1/16" inch drill bit, a bunch of winds, 1.4 oHms). This just keeps getting better and better. :2cool:

I'm going to have to plan on buying more e-liquid per week -- these builds really suck it up -- and switching to a lower nicotine level.

Nicely done sunnata...that build is good for at least 3 tankfuls running a lighter colored liquid.

Been running the new wick method for a couple of days now and it's great and all but I had a thought. With the previous method with each side looping and covering half of a coil have more juice covering those coils? I mean each half would have its own strand of thicker cotton instead of 1 strand coving the whole top? Just a thought.

Edit: I think microcoils that are longer in length like 10+ wraps are more effective with the previous method. Currently I have a twisted 28 wrapped 10 times and each strand covers half of the coil perfectly even.

My local shop didn't have 27ga in stock, and haven't had time to hit the others in my area...I'll definitely post up ASAP.

NP Truman.
Let me know how you like that 27ga.
I like ordering direct from temcoindustrials on ebay, or from their website.
But i find they ship their ebay orders pretty damn fast!

I gotta question, how come in the Aqua people place there cotton wicks up against the juice channels but dont recommend it in the Russian 91? (they pretty much have same wicking system cept the aqua has more channels no?) So far Ive been struggling with my Russian 91 that I got Thursday. It seems it'll wick good for a few hits but then quickly turn to nothing but burnt hits. Its funny though because Ill disassemble it once it starts doing this and Ill notice that my wick is completely saturated...no burnt or blackening action on the wick at all which is totally confusing to me. Also, this leads to one of the main negatives of the Russian 91 besides it getting the proper set up, taking everything apart when things are not going right...I lose juice, it gets messy, and so on. I guess I'll try putting the wick into the juice channels and see if it does anything or has anyone already tried this?

Is that cotton all one piece or is that an extra piece of cotton you laid on top of the coil? I was just thinking about doing this and had read mentions about the Truman method but never looked into it. I get the feeling this will be the answer...PLEASEEE

There's a couple methods you can use, what I'm doing on my latest builds I've been calling the wick-over, I find it performs a little better and takes any possible air flow issues out of the equation.

Use a single wick thru the coil, make a small loop on the tails and rest them on their respective decks...easy enough, then take a flat piece of cotton not to thick and just slightly less wide than the coil screws and lay it over the top of the coil, then trim the ends so they rest on the deck as well, nudged up against to first wick, when you install the chimney tube it'll slightly squeeze the top wick snug over the coil...do all of this with your wicks wet.

Im still getting an occasional burnt hit...is this normal? I usually chainvape the living *BLEEP* out of it though after I do an initial set up. Even so, I was hoping to not get any burnt hits,

Alright well I made some adjustments and it seems to be working better now, although there is a drop in flavor with each hit I take. By the the time I get to end of my chain vape, it almost begins to taste like just air or something really watered down. Ill get a pic up as soon as I finish this tank because Im losing juice by constantly disassembling this thing.

I dont own any high quality cameras so this is probably the best its going to get but Ill try my best to explain. As you can see that top part is already burnt. I placed the wick that goes through the coil along the deck as usual and then just grabbed a another piece and placed it diagonally across the top part of the coil, which also kind of comes down to the deck. I did this in hopes the top strand would also get its own wicking. Thats basically it.

The wick thru the coil needs to be be pretty loose, just a light drag when pulling it side to side...so you might have a little to much cotton, and when it swells it'll get choked off, definitely a less is more kinda deal. This build takes a bit to break in, up to a half a tankful...I've found it a little harsh on the first hits, but quickly smoothes out.

@Reyes...I was concerned that the separate single wick over the top would be an issue and possibly moving out of place, I've done at least 5 builds like this, none have ever budged, some of them with as many as 4 tankfuls.

I feel like the separate top wick resting on the decks and contacting the loops feeds more juice to all the necessary areas, but either method will definitely perform extremely well.
