Did it with the new method. It took my longer then expected because I was trying to adjust the strand that lays over the coil n was paranoid it was gonna move out of place if moved around after filling

The moving off the top of the coil was what i was worrying about. Staying put for you guys i guess? Even with laying the mod down on it side etc?

Also... is everyone just twisting loose cotton or are those cotton yarn wicks... i apologize if i missed that.

I think that as long as the cotton stays wet, those top strands will stay 'glued' down. But I haven't taken the chimney off my KF clone since trying this method.

I'm not an expert at all, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't 'twist' the cotton, at least not the whole wick. I wet the
end of my cotton, and roll the last little bit so that it fits easily into the coil. Then I pull through the rest of the cotton. If it bunches up to the point where it won't go in any further, then it's too thick.

I've run thru 3 tankfuls with this method, when I remove the chimney for a rewick the top lay-over wick is always righ where I placed it. No problem.

I am at about 4 or 5 tanks with the same wick. It is still running strong and has not moved.

Now you need to get an Aqua and work on that. Actually I may try tossing a little wick on top of the coil for a goof. It hits like a train, no leaks, no burn, no issues and it has good flavor, but it isn't as tasty as your Kayfun design. I can't get my Nimbus as tasty either.

rewicked mine to trumans newer method. Yup problem last time was the cotton inside the coil was to thick. So far taste and vape is just as good as previous method. Problem for me is that i have nano coil (1mm or less. Used a sewing pin not needle) so the cotton strands are very thin and had a hard time getting it to stay and cover ALL the coils top surface. I filled my r91 to 1/4 and will post back with results if it stayed on top with pics.

Edit: burnt taste came back. I guess I'll remake my coil with a bigger diameter and try it out. Only suck part is I'm out of 30g kanthal and I like the more surface area I get from it compared to 28g.

I tried a nano-coil thinking it would be a next level experience, it didn't work nearly as well as my standard 1.5mm micro, and it was way harder to wick, the nano was basically terrible. I've been steadily lowering my resistance rating, I'm now down to 1.1ohms, it's 8 wraps at the 1.5mm diameter with 28ga Kanthal, the way it's performing on this build…I really don't know how it could get any better. When you lay that extra wick across the top of the coil it performs amazingly well !

I'm getting amazing flavor and clouds on my nano when wicked right. But yes its a PITA to wick lol. I might try going back to 28g on 5/64 drill bit tonight since I forgot what it was originally like but with ur wick method this time. Can't wait to get my chi you mech in the mail so I can try twisted 28g micro with the wick method.

That's why I do it with 2 wicks. It's easier to setup and is the same build.

The truman builds are the best for me. Been using them for a while now.

Truman, if you have any 27ga, try using that around 11 wraps on your 1.5mm bit. Should get you around 1.1ohm give or take, but will give you a little more surface area to cook the juice.
When I'm shooting for around 1 to 1.2ohm with a micro, I mostly use 27ga.
Most importantly, I try to always stay around 11 wraps, regardless of what my target resistance is.
I always wrap on the same size bit, around 11 wraps and change my wire gauge for different resistances.
26ga for .7-.9ohm builds, 27ga for 1-1.2ohm and 28ga for 1.3-1.5ohm builds.

No worries LReyes.
Let us know how that twisted 30ga works out.
One of my favorite setups at the moment is a twisted 29ga, I think around 11 wraps.
It's in my adv kfl and I use it exclusively with a DIY pomegranate/chocolate juice. It is amazing!
Since I started wrapping smaller coils, amd micro coils on pretty much everything, I have found 27ga to be a staple in my gear box.
Most importantly, as I mentioned, I try to keep every micro coil around 11 wraps.
Sometimes I lose count and hit 10 or 12, but around 11 works great.
I have every gauge wire between 24 ad 32ga.
You should see the explosion of juice an 11 wrap 24ga micro coil makes. But I have found myself moving up to higher resistances. I was wrappjng everything around .7-.8 ohm. Had several setups hovering around .3 and .4ohm.
But I've found Im liking between .95-1.4ohm lately, depending on the atty.
The kayfun runs a little hot, so I've been doing 1.1 through 1.5ohm micros mostly.
Flavor has improved.
I wrap certain resistances for certain flavors.

I'll definitely try the 27ga Kanthal, I did try it with 28ga NiChrome, it required 12 wraps to hit about 1.2 ohms, but didn't like it due to the slow fire up time, I was hoping the extra surface area with the NiChrome would produce a better all around vape, bit it didn't...I'll let yo know how the K27ga works for me as soon as I can get my hands on some. Thanks savage.
