More than a few times with my old method I'd find that the over wick had swollen up and moved away from the coil.

Doing it this new way pushes the top wick down snug over the coil when you screw the chimney tube down, it's trapped and simply won't move, and not being a twisted piece of cotton I feel like it wicks better...but only you know what works best for you.

Just got my hcigar kayfun 3.1. Have been screwing with it for roughly 6 hours. I was about to try a new cotton wick, a little longer. Stumbled on your guide beforehand, and am now extremely happy with it. It chucks the vapor at 1.8 ohms. And that flavor. Ooh.

Awesome. Glad you got it working good!
I absolutely love my kayfuns.
What kind of cotton are you using?

So weird...so after like 500 unsuccessful builds even after following Truman method, and everyone elses tips I decided to give it up. It never failed to give dry/burnt hits after about 7-10 puffs into a new build. Then I decided to try something out and I made that same exact build on my Kayfun 3.1 clone, and its amazing...Obviously Im happy that I finally got it to work but at the same time its like, I paid 93 dollars for my authentic Russian 91 and it dont work. Also the main reason I got the Russian 91 is because of its form factor plus I even bought the nano-kit for it so it could be even smaller. Why is it working on my Kayfun 3.1 and not on my Russian 91?

I just got my Russian yesterday and set it up with a diagonal micro coil with the wick going thru the coil and then covering the top (this is the first coil I've built). Almost finished my first tankful and this is by far my best vaping experience to date (been vaping for about 3 months)
werent u all into that nautilus? Glad i went to the RBA path before getting another clearo like the nautilus. Never gonna touch another clearo again :)

not sure man. Maybe its a vacuum problem. I have a authentic russian and 0 dry hits with trumans method.

The Nautilis is still very, very good but this micro coil with cotton in the Russian produces superior flavor. I've got Gorilla Juice in it and am really enjoying it.

I dont have any expierence with the nano tank, but you should check the top part of the chimney if it makes a proper seal with the oring. And make sure the bottom part of the chimney doesnt cover the juice channels. I have 0 problems with vacuum even with the AFC all the way out, but maybe u can try tightening the airflow.

From my expierence ive damaged the top oring by improperly attaching the top to the bottom part by forcing it to thread. You can try coving the air hole and suck as hard as you can until u cant anymore... if ur able to suck a little bit of air theres a leak. The probability that it being a leak though is slim imo. Im just thinking it has to do with your wick.

I think after a few days or weeks of use youll find it hard to go back to your clearos in my opinion. Besides my r91 looks so gawtdamn sexy with a mtank or when I attach the metal tank with clear mid piece... I brushed off all the satin silver off my 91 except the part with the Russian 91 print.

I had the same exact problem with my Russian 91%. Dry/burnt hits no matter what build I was running. I actually started a thread about this a few days ago. What I ended up doing was milling out the vertical juice channels a little bit as I am convinced that the juice channels on mine were not machined properly. If you can why dont you try to compare the juice channels on your Russian and your 3.1 clone. Look at the vertical channels and where the vertical and horizontal channels meet. I'm not saying yours is faulty but its just one thing to check.

You should try extending the wick to where it covers as much of the bottom deck as you can. Idk if in your pictures it moved.

I just finished a tank on my R91 so I took pics right after I took off the chimney.

Here's the side with the wick ends fold over and where I laid the end of the strand going over the coil

And here's the other side where I looped the strand going over. Its covering as much as possible

my current coil is a twisted 28g at .8ohm and 0 dry hits so far.
