We are testing batch 4 for a whole day now. Personally I've been sucking nonstop with usb, with batteries, with auto switch, with manual switch... it works flawless! Don't ask me how my head feels though

I will continue suffering for the rest of the weekend, just as 2 other colleagues. I will let you know if I approve this batch or not, by Sunday.

What has changed in batch 4:
New screw thread to avoid short circuit (possible problem for some non working switches, usb cables of previous batches). This means: yes you can use batch 4 switches with previous batches batteries and usb cables, but it doesn't screw in perfect and leaves a 1mm hole between the two parts. I suggest you keep batch per batch parts.

Auto switch: when you screw it in, the LED blinks 3 times, this means you have made contact and you're good to go.
Auto switch: you puff like crazy, non stop - result: the switch blinks about 40 times, notifying you that you are puffing in a very unhealthy way and therefore the system shuts down for 20 seconds! After 20 seconds you can puff again.
Auto switch: the led light is more visible now (bigger hole), now you can even use it as a laser pointer if you wish.

Manual switch: no change in usage - you push the switch = full power. No safety program, just ON/OFF switch. You are responsible. If you push for 30 seconds for example, there's a big chance you will overheat the atomizer and cause the death of your atomizer, so please be reasonable when pushing that button! Push for 8 seconds maximum if you can inhale that long!

Knowing that some of you WILL kill it, we have lowered the prices of the extra's for the KISSBOX, an atomizer costs 26.5 instead of 47 USD now!

USB cable: connect and let the battery inside the USB battery compartment charge for an hour before using (ok I just let it charge for 10 minutes and puffed away, but I need to speed things up as you all now!).

Atomizer: no need to dry smoke! Too much liquid inside? Just blow it out the atomizer, put in a new cartridge and you're ok.

Feeling in your lungs, in your throat? First of all this something personal, I just did a test with a light smoker and she coughed (ruyan nr4) after just one puff! Need more feeling in your lungs? Suck/Inhale 5 to 7 times fast and strongly into your lungs. I need to warn you, this is for heavy smokers only!

Please use this device, and any other e-cigarette for that matter, as you would smoke a normal cigarette. Don't be afraid of not getting the kick, be relaxed when you inhale and inhale deeply, don't rush things.

just my two cents, Ludo

Hi,

The Batch nr 4 has no problems. Some people have just been waiting to nail us down on the forums after all the positive news, it’ll pass with batch 4.

Best regards,

Ludo
Well, I don't think that's an honest reply personally, I don't think anyone is "waiting to nail [you] down on the forums". It's all real problems we're having.

LOL! :)

vapour production-yes,decent vapour, but no better than my cheaper cigs.

draw was far too light for my taste,as was the vapour--i just felt like i wasnt inhaling anything substantial--like i was smoking air.didnt get enough hit to the throat or lungs.

liquid in mouth problem, particularly with yentl (and i know the drill...fully charged battery, properly heat atomiser etc).i tried blowing into mouthpiece too,but it didnt make any difference whatever i tried.
[...]
now i know that some people might like the light draw and vapour of the kissbox, but speaking for myself,i prefer something that feels a bit more substantial.
hopefully they have improved it with the new parts...but it was a disappointing experience for me personally.
.
I agree 100% with everything you said! I still think the KB is better than my cheaper model, it doesn't do that annoying whisteling sound I had with the mini. The cardridge lasts longer (obviously) and the smoke is 'ok', which are good points in favor of the KB. So it is better than the cheap ecigs, but it's not so much better that it justifies the high price.
I also didn't like the non-substantial inhaling.. with my cheap ecig, I smoked it for a week with no real cigs.. with the KB, I still have to smoke 2 or 3 real cigs a day to compensate.

Hey Ludo, thanks for keeping us in the loop of what's happening, it's good news to see some good QA being done on the KB.
I hope you smoke the non-nicotine ones, otherwise you're asking for trouble!

About the screw, you say we should keep batch per batch parts separate.. does this mean that we'll be receiving a whole new KB from batch 4? I was expecting just replacement parts, but if you say that the replacement parts are not 100% compatible, I'm assuming we'll receive the whole kissbox as a replacement and not just spare parts. Is this true, or I misunderstood ?

About cheaper atomizer, that's really great news because the parts being so expensive didn't help me in my initial decision to buy the KB (then I thought customer service would be good enough, so I wouldn't need extra parts).

Atomizer liquid leaking problem : that's not really a solution.. the KISS principle is not respected here.. + I don't want to have ilquid in my mouth before knowing it's time to start blowing... first, it's disgusting and annoying if I'm not home (nowhere to spit and rinse my mouth from the liquid), and it's also a waste of the precious liquid.
There must be a better way to fix this, maybe for batch 5... I think that it should be simple enough to put something on the sides of the cardridges to prevent the liquid from leaking.. something like a filter that would stop the liquid and let smoke go through?

About the feeling in my lungs : I already do inhale twice, and it's not that great.. It should as simple as smoking a real cigarette... Although it's true that 'light" cigarettes are even less substancial, but I don't smoke these either...
Maybe you should have different levels of cardridges/atomizers for 'heavy/normal/light' smoke density/substance.

The fact that I need to inhale twice already seems to be a problem too since I can't inhale long enough as if there's no more air flowing through the atomizer... again this might be an issue with my own atomizer.
I inhale, no more air after 1 or 2 seconds, then if I remove my mouth from the mouthpiece (and keep inhaling just to make sure that it's not my lungs that were full), and try to inhale again from the KB, it works.. to me, it looks like all I'm inhaling is the air that was already inside the empty space of the atomizer, I inhale that, no more air... maybe the air holes of the atomizer are too small or blocked once it's screwed ?

Anyways, thanks for the news! I'll be waiting for my batch 4 parts (or KB).

Thanks,
KaKaRoTo

Hey sanneke...got my classic in all black. The first thing I noticed is that the classic is slightly smaller than the Njoy. But when I picked it up and felt how light it was, i thought I might have gotten a "dummy" model.

I charged the first battery until the light turned green and now I'm charging the second one. Charged the USB for an hour. I'm using it via the USB. I'm enjoying it...really. Great flavor...smooth vape. I love this manual switch. GOD, I hope this keeps working like this!!!!!!!! :D This is very very good!

Hey Ludo...what batch is mine? It was sent on the 18th and I got it today.

I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hope this is the good batch! :D

@Karen: Yours should be batch 3

@all: if any problem with any of the elements of your kissbox (batch 1-3) please let us know exactly which part is not working and we will replace that part. If it is more than one part that doesn't work, we replace by a new set from batch 4 (and next batches)

The main problem of some kissboxes from batch 1-3 was: short circuits. These are not dangerous, but they kill the parts and are not good for the batteries in the long term.

ps. can you imagine that I still have a batch 1 kissbox that works perfect, so does Harry and so do most customers in the Netherlands.

Update batch 4 testing today: Everything works perfect with the batteries. I just encountered something with the USB cable, it works, but sometimes I need to screw/unscrew the auto switch a little bit (like 2 mm) to make better contact. We'll look into that today in the factory.

Update on cartridges (trick for ALL kinds of cartridges in general): After one day of smoking my cartridge looked dry, and I didn't have the same feeling on my lungs anymore as with a fresh cartridge, so far this is normal of course. I took a pincet and pushed the tissue in and pulled it out a little... I did this a few times until the whole tissue was drenched in liquid again (rest liquid at the bottom), put the tissue back into its original position, making sure no tissue threads appeared above the container - not to touch the atomizer. I could smoke for another 2 hours!

Another trick is to blow into your cartridge, liquid will move towards the the top of the cartridge.

Best to do is:
first 4 hours smoking (put away your e-cigarette horizontally-keep the liquid from over moistering the atomizer)
after 4 hours smoking (put away your e-cigarette vertically-moisture the atomizer)

Atomizer:
Your atomizer should always be humid and not dry. If it is too humid, just blow the liquid out of it. If it is too dry (burned taste, no vapor), drop one drop of liquid onto the atomizer, then put a cartridge.

Tutorial: How to extract liquid from a cartridge.
take a fresh (or some ) cartridge(s) and take out the tissue(s) with a pencil
put the tissue in a normal syringe you can buy at the local drugstore (the ones without the needle of course!)
push the syringe empty into a recipient such as a small glass container used for eardrops (rince well before using!)
now use the ear drops bottle's "pipette" to control a few (max 2) drops of liquids to fall on the atomizer.
Your atomizer is humid now.
from here on you have 2 choices:
1. you smoke with a dummy for 16 puffs and then drop 2 more drops of liquid (repeat).
2. put a normal cartridge and smoke the cartridge

Smoking with dummy and liquid on the atomizer is tricky, if you do not control it well, your atomizer will dry out and die. If you use cheap liquids your atomizer will cloack (please do not try to be Dutch, you'll end up paying a new atomizer and gain nothing using cheap liquids). Don't believe me? Please refer to this test of liquids to check on residue after very hot heating!

That's something I do all the time. But I'd suggest using a pin or paperclip, not a pencil. I wouldn't want to get graphite on the filler.

Yeah, I think I've been finding that out. I had a recent rash of atomizer failures, and although I'm still testing, I think it was the liquid. That's one reason I bought some cheap extra atomizers from Pillbox, to have some expendable ones to test new liquids in. I'm never trying a new liquid or cartridge in my main e-cigarettes again.
