I started with 5-10 minutes on the treadmill. I used to tell myself that I only had to do 5 minutes, and then I could quit if I wanted to. That helped me get the 'activation energy' to get me up and going.

I started with never eating breakfast-nope nadda, don't like it. Now I begrudgingly eat a teaspoon of cottage cheese and 3 strawberries cut in half. My stomach asks for it now-the eating part that is-not the curds, but I do it-one bite at a time. It is the beginning of a good thing-one day one meal. Give 5-10 minutes of our time to what will benefit us in the long run and it will pay off.
So happy to see you join in Cisme!

Skipping breakfast is still the hardest habit I have to tackle. I'm not a breakfast person. Steel cut oats with raisins is my go-to breakfast, but it's still hard to make myself eat in the mornings.

Spaz, good for you!! last time i tried to pay raquetball i bounced the racquet off my nose. i prefer tennis- it's harder to it yourself since the raquet handle are longer

(got my 10 minutes in)

Good job on the 10 minutes!

I injure myself all the time playing racquetball. I end up smacking myself in the knee with the racquet very often and I've got a big 'tattoo' of a ball on my arm right now where an opponent hit me with the ball. Knock on wood... I haven't had any serious injuries yet. I do wear goggles so my eyes won't explode if I get hit in the face (very important)! :)

This is a wonderful thread! Now that I am smoke free it is time to get this darn weight off. I have struggled and struggled with this. I start out good then just quit. I am determined to get back on track this time. My biggest struggle is the way I work. I work 12hr rotating shift job. When I work days I do extremely well. The nights though, are hard for me. My body wants to eat breakfast lunch and dinner at a certain time. When i work nights it gets all confused and I end up making horrible choices because I wait too long to eat. Any suggestions?

Welcome Jewls and Cisme :)

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies :) Yeah, I buggered up both the knees apparently. (Thanks for the brace link) I may have to pick a pair up. It never occured to me that since I quit smoking I have NOTHING to tell me I'm over doing it. My breathing always kept me from exercising more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Now I can jump on the the treadmill, crank it up and just go. I guess it's a great problem to have, but boy do I hurt. Ladies Becarefull too:)
I did make it to the gym yesterday and did some weights

Geeze, I took 1 day off from the forum and we have like 10 new pages....WTG everyone!

Get some small snack baggies and in one, put a tablespoon of peanut butter and the other a stalk of celery. Find a dedicated time for each shift to go get a quick nibble of the snack. You could do the Laughing Cow Cheese triangles and put the celery in the same baggie. Laughing Cow comes in quite a few different flavors!

Dang Beans. Good job though on keeping to the routine of going to the gym! Knees do take a few weeks to recover and that is if you do nothing strenuous at all.

Walking is done….Beans in the crock-pot, short ribs marinating and waiting for the new no sugar and low sodium Teriyaki sauce!

Oh jewls, sorry to hear about your accident and bad knees. That sounds miserable..Can they do anything for you now or are you stuck with what it is.

Good for you and your early morning workout HzG8rGrl. I'm just too lazy in the mornings :) DH needs his coffee and lunch made before 5am and then its couch and coffee time with ECF.
You know dinner sounds great, but please don't blame me if your house gets stinky tonight

Welcome to the thread Jewls!!!

Dinner sounds great Hz. I like the idea of substituting extra bean sprouts for noodles too .

Glad you made it to the gym Beans, but be careful!

Spaz, glad to hear it's not just me that hits themselves with the racquetball racquet! Ouch on the bruise from the ball.

Hey Hey Emma!
The sleep and not wanna do anything could be related to the no longer smoking symptoms. Start with 10 minutes a day or every other day and see if it does anything to motivate you. Another thing you could do is to make the temp a little cooler and then exercise or just plain ole moving around will be what keeps you warm-lol.

I could never get it done with calorie counting, I am impressed Fudgey ;).

You all are making me feel bad. I can't seem to get off my rear and all I want to do is sleep!! I thinks it's a hybernation thing.
.

Oh no! Don't feel bad. You are not alone. I havent done a thing today. There's nothing wrong with doing nothing, or eating chocolate. Lol OK Im guilty. I'm thinking about it, planning how to get moving, then when the knee hurts nothing gets done. But at least its on the mind.

Ok, ok, I walked the dogs around the block when I got home. It's not a continuance pace for me as it's THEIR walk not mine :) We've been a little lazy lately

And, I bought some salmon fillets the other day and are having that tonight with ceaser salad. I've never tried the fillets so this will be my first time baking them. Hope they turn out good.

So glad you are here Jewls. There is strength in numbers. Shift work makes it extra hard on one not only with the eating pattern, but the sleeping too. "When i work nights it gets all confused and I end up making horrible choices because I wait too long to eat." Maybe make the choices of what you are going to eat ahead of time, and not wait so long to eat unless the waiting so long is a result of your job. I know all easier said than done. I am another one that never ate breakfast. Being one that never gets hungry and sometimes working where I was too busy to have lunch, I would end up having one meal a day. I would not recommend this for anybody.
