I'm not good at keeping a thread moving along-lol. I wander too dang much.
I'll come up on a thread and start reading it and then notice it is a year old. Has happened on quite a few occasions. Sometimes I feel so bad for not having seen it when I feel I should have so that I could have offered help or encouraging words.

Hz, I love reading your recipes. They sound delicious and I actually go on a squash kick when they're available here - our winter is only about a month long. lol Spaghetti Squash is one of our favorites and so easy to do in the microwave as long as you treat it like a potato and puncture it. Otherwise, it will explode and can take your microwave door off. :D

Be careful if you go into the chat thread, there is a yummy looking recipe for a spiced rum bundt cake.

Okay, forgot why I was here. I confess I only exercised twice this week so far. If I don't get out tomorrow.....I may have to hide my computer from me. I tried to trick myself early this morning by saying if I computed early, I would still have the rest of the day. Instead I computed and watched paranormal shows, visited with the neighbors, did laundry, some cooking, more computing...pretty much everything but a nice long walk.

I learned to always poke my squash with a knife in several places before putting in the microwave! I only do it to soften it just enough in order to slice those bad boys.
Thanks for the kind words Cisme. Turn on the music while folding and twirl with the long sleeve shirts!
LR- I love cauliflower. Have it almost everyday with lunch and hummus.

I have tried 2 hummuses lately - a 3 olive one, which was pretty good, at first 2 much olive for me then I really liked it, today I tried a roasted red pepper one. I think I like the olive one better but I still haven't had much of this one yet. Hummis is a new thing for me, but I think the key to my diet is going to be variety - if I feel really limited with what I can eat then I think that's going to be a prob - so I am trying some new healthy things.

So far I like hummus best spread thinly on whole grain lower calorie crackers. I have tried so far with those crackers, celery, by itself, and on toast. The red pepper one wasn't bad on celery but the olive one, not good on celery lol.

Loveridden-Purchase the plain and add what you like in quantities that fit your taste buds. I chop up roasted red bell peppers, serranos, chili peppers, jalapenos, shallots and garlic. Then I add a bit of vinegar (many to choose from), lime juice, lime zest, cumin, white pepper, chili powder, a dash of soy sauce, olive oil and a splash of the red bell pepper juice.
I can add a teaspoon of this to egg beaters, the hummus or a couple tablespoons into a crock pot dish, even in a meat loaf it gives a nice base of flavor. I can never seem to get around to it but hopefully next week I will soak some dried garbanzo beans and do the whole thing from scratch.

No Fudgey-I was not allowed to even attempt having fun in the kitchen during my first marriage. For 10 years I wanted to, but nooooooooo. As soon as I was granted a divorce I went out and purchased a good 20-30 discounted cookbooks and just went wild cooking everything I could afford to buy.
Now when I want to try something new I just google and read like crazy and adjust flavor profiles for what I like, taste wise. I seldom measure anything-another reason I can't really give out a true recipe. I put a dash of that and a touch of this and a little more of whatever, tasting and smelling as I go. Thank goodness my honey is a human vacuum cleaner!

And Fudgey-quit blaming the cold-walk around the house!
