It's amazing that now that he is paying attention of what he is eating! He is even reading labels now  He is in a much better mood after we added some carbs back in his diet. I finally convinced him there are good carbs and bad carbs :D Planning a menu is still a challenge....I'm sure it will get easier.

That looks great hzg8r! I hope there are leftovers for lunch today!

Even if you're not consistnet 5vz, keep posting, it may help you be more consistent, and to keep track of when you do well. :)

LR, you're doing fantastic!

Yay Fudgey- small changes with great results, and DH starting to get invested!

I don't have to work this morning, so a couple of friends are taking me to "bring a friend day" at iron tribe cross fit. http://irontribefitness.com/ I think i might be sore tomorrow. (even though they supposedly go easy on newbies)

Well, I'm not working out today. The iron tribe 'bring a friend day' was good. The workout itself was fairly short and VERY intense (yep, stiff today). It's a cool model- a lot of support and camaraderie. The focus is on overall fitness, doing your best and pushing yourself, with a touch of competition thrown in. It's also WAY expensive (monthly fee is more than my car payment) so i'm not going to be joining. But my friends swear by it, and now i understand why.

Hello all! RW has bben keeping me busy lately plus I think I'm getting a case of spring fever. I have also started a regimen with a website called active.com. I am finding out that I'm am SO out of shape. The front of my calves and ankles hurt so bad I have to stop and can't even make the first 10 min.! How sad is that! It may not be all me though. I looked up the pain I was having and it could be that my feet are turning inward when I walk/jog. A trip to buy a pair of "motion control" shoes is in my future. I hope that is what it is. Until then I'm going to continue the stretching exercises because even those get me a little winded!!

I don't *think* it made my ankles hurt- but then again i moved them and my legs as slowly and carefully as possible when i had them. I suspect shin splints aren't llimited to running though. walking in the wrong shoes can probably do it too.

Do the stretches very slowly and carefully. I'm hoping that Hzg8r will have some good input on this too

I would really like to work my way up to this program so for now I'm just going to stick to the brisk walk part and the stretches. It just makes me feel really bad that I've let myself get so out of shape that I can't do a simple 20 min. alternating walk/jog (mostly walk at first) program:(

It took awhile for my ankles and shins to get over being used again. When we first moved here (3 years ago) we walked outside up and down our street. It is a dead end and 1 mile long. So we walked 2 miles everyday for the first year and it took about 3 months for the splints and ankles to be totally back to normal. I bought Merrell's that have some sort of special placement thing happening in them and it still took a bit of time.
Just go slow and rotate your ankles a little first to warm them up.
We gave up the walking as we never lost any weight. Now we take the walk on a regular basis and on the beach as a fun thing and not exercise!

That is how I got the DH off of salt many years back. I took the salt shaker and put half salt and half no-salt. Over time I just increased the no-salt and before I knew it (he had no clue) he was off of salt. Should have seen his face when I confronted him!

What's the no-salt that you mixed in?

Thanks everyone for the support and prayers.

Glad you found us Ambeck. So good to have someone else to share their fitness experiences with us.

You are doing great LR, but please stay away from the diet pills.

Another awesome sounding menu Hz. Can't understand why I am never hungry til I read what you are making. Thank you for the support and encouragement you do for everyone.

Come on and post no matter what you are doing 5vz. What I love most of all about this thread is the sharing of our negatives as well as the positives.

Ahh Classy, it is ok cuz this isn't exactly on your high priority list right now. Lots of hugs and prayers....

Yay for hubby's 150 Fudgey. Helps tremendously that he is paying attention to what he is eating.

Emma Jo...just remember you are doing something about getting in better shape and you have a good start....plus you are not over doing and trying not to cause other problems for your body.

Thank you CES for all your encouragement.

Thank you so for the quote's starry!!!!!!!

Keep on the path to fitness...

You are not alone, I am out of shape too, it's embarassing to me. I live on the 3rd floor and each time I go up the stairs I have to hide that I am winded :( I am such a baby about exercise too, I just HATE it :(
