I just got my lava tube 1.5. I am wondering how you check for the battery voltage ? I read that it is 7 clicks of the power button, but when the device is ON, 5 clicks turns it off and 7 clicks after it is off turns the device ON on the 5th click and the next 2 clicks just shows the resistance and current volt setting. What am I doing wrong?

You should see the battery meter on the right hand side of the display when reading the "ohms" and other functions. Looks like the battery meter on most cell phones. Hopefully someone will chime in with more info.

Thanks :) I am a bigger dumbass than I thought. Some how I was ignoring it and looking or some numbers.

Cracking up, Master, that there's another person out there with 'cart karma' as rotten as mine. If its humanly possible for a cc processing thing to go wrong, it will for me. Thanks so much for posting those directions! I'll send my buddy Rickajho to check it out and see if its 'rachel proof'. lol

And kidujp... so glad Bmays got it straightened out for ya! You'll notice when a techie question pops up I'm remarkably and uncharacteristically silent. rofl

And Auntie... Oh, that's a big bummer, all right, but lemme tell you, it'll be worth the wait, for sure! I was a huge 'squeaky wheel' during the wait, mostly cause I didn't receive any email updates, so we had no earthly clue what was the holdup and what we were gonna get at the end of it. But when I finally got mine, even after the 2 month wait... ALL was forgiven. They really are gorgeous, and really quite amazing for the price. I don't know of any other vv pv's anywhere near as nice in the price range. Once they get the VV Vision Tox (aka GS Sub) voltage regulation issue resolved (which is happening any day now... the corrected controller units are on their way from China to GotVapes now) those will be a fantastic option, too, just cause they have the same .1 + and - function as the lavatube, same sorta safety function built in, and come with two 'tubes' to make the pv either 'regular' 18500 size, 'mini' 18350 size, and the new 18650 Maxi size tubes are gonna be avail for an extra $10... plus they have a really nice oled display as clear as your phone. So I'm of the mind that those are a killer beginner vv option as well. Only place with COMPLETELY resolved controller voltage regulation issue that I'm aware of is Gotvapes so I wouldn't suggest buying it anywhere other than that if anyone is hunting, and they'll have em any day now. BUT all that being said... it is rather light sorta aluminum construction w black powdercoating, similar to the original lava tubes. Not shabby, but the Chrome/Stainless/Copper units ARE so very much nicer and just heftier and more substancial. You made an excellent choice... now its all over but the waiting and pacing. lol

Neloishe... I didn't mention this before cause you asked specifically about cartos to use in your tank, and they were out of stock on these. But they just got more in, and if you want to experience the strongest vape, these things are like a freight train... seriously. Killer vapor, and best flavor and throat hit I've ever had. Now I tend to like vaping at about a 4.4v or so, and these cartos, on a 3.7v ego, are strongest vape I've ever had. Feels like about a 5.5 or 6v vape at 3.7v. I literally almost singed my eyebrows off with these at about 4v. lol But they're cheap, as clearotanks go, and they really are remarkable, so just wanted to mention them to you in case you wanted to get experimental. I don't even like clearomizers, at all, and these things ROCK. lol Read the reviews... that's what convinced me to try em. But if you do give them a whirl, promise me you'll start off at a low voltage, and work up. lol They're VERY warm vape. Also the only true dual coil clearomizers I've ever seen, with no filler.
510 Tank Twin Coil Clearomizer - E Cig : Joye eGo & eGo-T | Boge Leo | Cartomizers | E-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes | eGo Tank

Hi, first I'd like to say thanks for the great thread (much needed).

My first question is about the "clearomizer" you linked to above. I been looking at the Lavatube but hate to make the jump from what I'm using now with 1100 Mah battery from Volcano which is the MAGMA Re-fillable MEGA-Clearomizer - 5 Pack. After spending a small fortune like most people have, to me this is the best thing out there, it's the fiddling and the juice capacity that kinda sux.

Question:
1. Does it have a oversize tip (like putting your lips over a banana)?
2. Does anyone know how it compares to the MAGMA Re-fillable MEGA-Clearomizer - 5 Pack in TH/Vapor/Flavor?
3. Does it take the same fiddling as the MAGMA from Volcano?
------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm looking at the (Mini) but I don't like the idea of stacked batteries.

Question:
1. Is there a single battery that would work in the "Mini" and still give 6 to 8 hrs of vaping or close?
Edited: I see they do use just one battery.

------------------------------------------------------------------
I've used a Dual Coil 510 Cartomizer Tank 3.5ml also (not impressed with the carto), love the tank, maybe more power would help don't know, any thoughts on that?

I was going to pick up a tox when they came out...but ordered my stainless LT's instead. So glad I did. I will pick up a tox when they are all over the place for less money.

I saw a gripper the other day for 40...might pick up one for travelling...with I could find the ultimo 900 cheaper though

All clearo's are a bit finicky...but once you know how to tweak that particular clearo they aren't bad at all.

Hi All,

Some really useful information on this thread...thanks.

I just wanted to mention the "Kanger Standard Resistance Bottom Coil Cartos" they are from Vapescape and are 2.3ohms (ish)
They are only a 35mm carto but you can buy a nice 35mm tank from there too!

They provide a really nice warm vape even of eGos, however put them on a Lavatube Mini and you can vape from 3.7 - 5v and get some fantastic variation in flavor, hit, warmth and vapor.

They really are worth a try. I also use LR and SR Boges and have to say the Kanger might even be better!?!

I have not tried the low res Kangers yet but now my Chrome Bolt has arrived I might pop one on this.

Can't wait to get the chrome Lava when it lands in the UK.

Happy Vaping to you all and roll on Vapefest 2012......:?::ohmy::vapor:

To work out the watts (heat at the coil) volts x volts / ohms (3.7v x 3.7v / 1.5ohm = 9.13w)
(4.2v x 4.2v / 2.2ohm = 8.02w)
The Lavatube will not operate above 2.5amps.....so to work out amps divide volts by ohms (3.7v/1.5ohms=2.46amps)
(4.2v/2.2ohms=1.91amps)

The highest wattage I could theoretically obtain would be with a 2.5ohm single coil cart at 6volts
6v x 6v / 2.5ohms = 14.4 watts!!! at 2.4amps (6v/2.5ohms)
however the Lavatube in reality will not go much above 5.2 volts under load so.....

5x5/2.5= 10.82 watts in real terms.

Hi everyone, I have some questions about the clearomizers, fluxomizers, and the micromizers. I have been vaping my lava tube on a 6 mill glass tank between 5 and 6 volts, how ever I have no idea what oms ect I would need for these clearomizers. I have never used these but I have been thinking about ordering some as my tank is to big. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thank you.:):vapor:

All excellent questions. I can tell you that I REALLY dislike clearomizers as a rule, and that extends to the basic CE2/CE3 type like the Magma you linked to. I find that they have almost no flavor... it really really dumbs down the flavor for some reason. I also find that there is ZERO consistency in the vape, which drives me, personally, out of my skull. I've tried all sorts of those 'magma-esque' products... I might get one unbelievable hit off them in a few hour period, and for the rest of the time its subpar at best. I'm constantly having to fiddle with the darn things just to get them to work, period. Lots of troubleshooting involved, lets say that. I've had the same experience with all the other clearo type products I've tried, so even really pricey stuff like the vision grande clearotanks and the CE4 ego 'stardusts' (though I should say I've not tried the discount vapers version of the ce4s with the longer wicks...that might improve things considerably). But even if the vape was consistent, I'm just not willing to give up all that flavor. I don't have a lot of patience for dripping, which is generally considered the best way to vape for fullest flavor. Plus I vape a ton of flavors, so that doesn't work well with dripping unless you have a ton of atomizers, which I don't. So when I tried that clearo dual coil thing, I really wasn't expecting much. I needed to spend a few dollars more for free shipping, and clicked on that page by accident, and the reviews looked good, so i popped 2 in my cart. I use filler cartos, for the most part, just cause they have better flavor than the clear stuff, and if you buy a good brand, like smoktech and boge (and now I'll try the Kangers cause of that awesome endorsement!) they're inexpensive and easy to use, and until you start to run dry, each hit is pretty much identical. So when I got the clearo dual coils, I wasn't expecting much. I put it on my Vision tox vv at 4.2v, and about choked myself to tears. lol They're a VERY hot vape. I like around 4.3volts usually, with a 1.7ohm carto, so I was amazed how 'hot' the 1.5ohm clearo was at the same voltage. It felt like the time I experimented with my friends high voltage pv and tried to vape at 6.5 volts. lol So I put it on my ego, and it was downright amazing. It felt to me like about a 5.5v, but I'm thinking that is because these things just fill your mouth with giant plumes of very warm vapor. And I've never experienced flavor like that, not even when dripping to a brand new fresh atty. I vape a lot of 'apple pie' and while its normally very tasty stuff, I usually get more of a 'spiced cinnamon apple/baked apple' flavor off it. But with these it literally tasted like apple pie. I got all the nuances in the flavor that I normally don't get. Now the only issue I had with the ones I got was that after a number of days, they eventually got those pressure fractures that most clear stuff gets. I wish to heck they were in the frosted 'vision tank' kind of unbreakable poly, but they're not. However, I was so excited about how awesome these were that I was shouting it from the rafters, and about 10 other vapers I know tried them. Not one of them had cracking issues, so I'm thinking I was torquing it down too tight on the pv, and generally just not being very smart about it. I managed to crack some ego stardusts, too, and they're supposed to be practically unbreakable. lol So I don't think the cracking is a common thing at all. If you peek at the reviews, noone else has mentioned cracking, and they have upgraded the plastic. Now I don't know WHY on earth these are so much better than any other clearo thing I'v tried, but there is literally no comparison between something like this, and a regular old ce2 or ce3, which is what the magma looks like. And the reason I think these will be great on the lava tubes is because they're so darn hot that you won't want to vape them over 3.7or so, at the high end. So while most dual coils run into issue because you can't get them 'hot' enough with the 2.5amp restriction, I'd be AMAZED if anyone had that issue with these. The only person i referred these to who didn't fall madly in love with them is my friend Marie, who's a brand new vaper. She uses an ego, and that's all she's ever used. Her complaint with them is that the make 'way too much vapor'! lol As for the mouthpiece, I'd say its a tiny bit bigger than a normal sized 510 drip tip, but its this really nice soft rubber. I really like them, as opposed to the visions that have that giant plastic 'nipple' top on it which I don't care for at all, or the weird cigar type mouthpiece. And as for the mini... um, my vision tox uses 18350s in the 'mini' mode, and I'd say i get about 6 hours out of it, and I'm a really heavy vapor. Constantly vape, pretty much. lol I've never timed it, though. So there ya have it... that's about the the most detailed description I can give you of them. I will say that I'm amazed that not every single vape shop carries these. lol Oh, and one more thing... a whole ton of places carry something they call a '510 dual coil clearomizer'. But what those are is smoktech dual coil FILLER cartos with a clear casing instead of the black or stainless. Those are a whole other animal, and you'll run into the same issue with those that you do with most dual coils... you won't be able to get them high enough in voltage to really enjoy them the way they're supposed to be. VapingZone is the only place Ive found with these actual 'clearomizer' no filler dual coils. I saw them at one other place, but it was a polish vaping place. I can't even figure out what brand these are, which is driving me crazy. lol So I'm guessing in a month or so when I run out of these, I'll have only myself to blame that vaping zone is out of stock on em, since I'm telling everyone how fabulous they are. lol But I'm really of the opinion that these are a gamechanger, clearomizer wise. The flavor on them is the best I've EVER had, and that includes dripping, filler cartos and leaps and bounds better than all the other clearomizers I've used. I didn't have to do any 'troubleshooting' with them at all, just fill and go. You can vape them virtually dry, and all the hits are the same, like a good filler carto. I wish to heck they were upgraded with the crazy heavy vision 'frosted' plastic, just cause those are as hardy as a stainless carto, but I'm guessing if enough of us beg them to upgrade it further, they will. ;) Hope that helps! Heck, they're under $4... its worth a shot. Price was another surprise... comparable concept like the CE4 for ego is like $7 to $8 a pop. BTW, I'm begging Andrew at CCV and Eric at discount vapers to carry these as well... hoping I'll get lucky and they'll have even lower prices, or a 15 pack deal on em.

You know one thing I didn't mention? I got a headrush off these on a joye brand Ego (which are weaker than most)... that's something I didn't even think was possible. lol

lol... Yup, they're definitely addictive! I don't know if you've checked out any wood mods, yet, but that's where my 'must have! must buy!' meter gets tweaked. Gorgeous... like an accessory. lol Ego twist is not one I'm super familiar with... is that the vv ego you can twist to switch voltages? I've heard interesting things about those. Next time my passthrough dies I'm going to upgrade it to a 4 voltage passthrough Eric at Discount Vapers has. Most of the ego ones only go up to like 4.2v, I think, and I wanna say his hits 4.5? Its been a while since I really checked out vv egos, though, so my perceptions might be outdated. And as for the tox, both for you and MasterofDampf... I really really love mine, and that's before I have the controller head that determines voltage under load. Once I get the corrected 'head' part, I'm really gonna love it. I find the design rather intuitive, since the controller 'head' w vv function buttons and 'tube' for the battery are separate pieces. You just decide which size you want it to be, and twist the correct one on. BUT they are coming out with different colors in the near future, so I'm excited about that. I love the idea that if a newer model head with upgraded function comes out, you can just buy a new one. Also love that because the parts are separate, I can just buy my new head, and since I have two tubes (and getting the 18650 one), I'll essentially have two pvs. One of course will be the one that works properly and does full range of vv function, almost identically to the lavatube, and the other which was the faulty one which is basically a really nice fixed 4v mod right now. lol And the colors will be quite cool. Lots of people are talking about mixing and matching colors to match drip tips and tanks. ;)

Just to show off my obsession, post #205 here shows you exactly the mod I'm lusting for. Its a redwood burled mod created by Lewis Gentry, and special ordered from discount vapers. The 'base' mod is an Indulgence, and I just love the way the curvy body works perfectly with that flared button band in the center. And then there's a matching cone and wooden drip tip. I'd probably get something near identical wood-wise, but there are a few other woods I adore, also. A guy I know just got one of these in a gorgeous burled wood that had been double dyed this incredible vibrant blue color for his wife. Reminds me of the sky from Van Gough's 'starry night'.
