I have not spent £7,568 on cigarettes so far and despite my best efforts have only managed to spend about a third of that on a lot of things I don't actually 'need' (and I could vape for at least 5 years without buying anything else at all and have back ups for back ups for back ups...). I am really struggling to find things to buy now as I am very happy as a tootle puffing, no flavour, coil & diy juice maker (not very difficult if unflavoured :)) The only good thing about my husband still smoking - is I now need to renew my efforts to get him vaping and then I can spend his money to get him a perfect set up. Tootle puffing doesn't suit him so I need to 'research' all the latest stuff (research of course means buying things to try). I have really missed vape mail..

Kanger Subox? ;)

Just sayin....

Except that... 4 liters is 4 THOUSAND milliliters, not 400. So he might still have paid $50 whereas he could have spent $40, but it's not that much more, over the "life" of the 4,000 ml of juice he could conceivably make.

(I haven't read this whole thread, but I did notice the mention of 400 ml being the equivalent of 4 liters, and thought I should point it out... ;) )

~Lannie

I'm coming up with about 5 cents a mil which ain't bad for a rookie effort.

I bought my first nic base in a lower consentration at first too thinking it would be easier. I actually find 100 to be easier to work with now.

Bull City has flavoring so cheap its an after thought. With every order I add a new flavor. Some suck, some become the "new thing".

I guess I should be gratful that $1.75 isn't lot of money to me.

I agree vaping can be expensive especially once you make it a hobby. I know people who vape as a hobby and have more mods and vape gear than they honestly need, but that's their choice and they can do what they want. For me, vaping wasn't just about saving money, a lot had to do with health concerns and just feeling better. The initial startup cost can be quite expensive, but once you stock all your supplies you should be able to recoup that money and start to see a savings within the first three months.
My advice to you is not to purchase cheap vape gear, do your research and buy gear that's gonna last, sure it's probably more expensive that other mods but it's probably gonna last a lot longer over time.
Me and my wife both smoked and would go thru almost two packs a day at $5.65 a pack. That's just over $4k a year for smoking. I started vaping last August and got my wife to start vaping last October. Now we both vape, juice costs $18.99 per 100ml's, we usually go thru about 250/300mls per month. Around $60 a month for juice, pretty close to $700 a year for juice, if I was to DIY I'm looking at cutting that cost substantially. We only use Reos Mods Reo Grands which are a little pricey for mods but they're built like tanks and will probably last forever. We have 4 mods two were $156 each and the other two were $170 each. So 4 mods at $676 and that included shipping. I own about 10 different rda's for my mods. Prices range from $12 to $90, I'd estimate that I've spent maybe $400 on rda's. So far, with 4 high end mods, monthly juice cost and 10 different atties to chose from at any time, my cost is up to $1776.00. We have two chargers, both nitecore (2 bay and a 4 bay) so maybe $35 for chargers. We have 10 batteries 6 AW/4 Sony's, so maybe $100 worth of batteries. We used rayon wick and bought a box of 500ft rayon, it will last between 5 and 7 years maybe more, it was $16. I paid $21 for kanthal got 300ft, enough to last about three years. We share supplies and expenses but even then if I was to compare all that we're still saving over 2k a year and both feel and look 10x better. Total expenses for vaping so far was $1948.00. That was my initial startup and my wife's startup. Granted there's a lot of things I've bought that I don't even need, but now I've got options, I could also still lower our cost by mixing my own juice and just purchasing DIY supplies. With smoking I had no options, we smoked Marlboro Smooths and nothing else, it was the same thing over and over. We spent over $4K a year smoking. Now we're both happy, we have bad ayuss mods and extra supplies to last us years and choose the flavor juice we want, yet still spent less than $2k our first year vaping. The rest of the money just goes into our vape budget.

I have never met anyone that spends more money on e cigarettes than cigarettes, i used to smoke a pack of 50g amber leaf per week which here in the UK is £17, it comes with papers, but then had to buy menthol tips, which were £1 each. So lets say £20 a week on cigarettes.

Right now i use no more than 3 bottles of 10ml liquid per week which is about £3 and i use the basic kits ego style, i have RDA and better kits but i don't really have the time or patience to assemble them, drip, etc. I'm always on the move so the ego style works well for me.

I am using a standard vision spinner (the first one) and then i use the GS H2 Syle clearomizer and i use about 4 wicks / coils per week, i could use 1 or two but i like to change them every second day. The wicks i pay £0.40 each.

So i am vaping for less than £5 per week compared to the £20 a week.

Then you need to meet me haha, I used to smoke the Amber leaf and buy a few packs of cigs at the weekend too.
But.
I vape 150ml of liquid per week which costs me...over £30 a week. Throw in the tanks and mods ect and I have spend just this month, just over £350 on vape gear and juice. You would think I vape none stop, I really don't but with my setup, a 5 ml tank can be gone in an hour easily. I measured it and 15 pulls drank 2ml of juice. Vaping for me costs a bomb but I don't care, I enjoy it, I'm not hurting anyone and more importantly I'm not hurting myself smoking the nasties anymore and at least I'm not down the pub blowing on booze and causing trouble.
In saying that, I'm going to start making my own juice soon.

Cant beat amber leaf, i do miss the smell of a freshly opened packet, but i don't miss all the bits of dried tobacco at the side of my car seat.

^^or ciggie burns on your favorite shirt, sheets, furniture..carpet, car upholstry etc (rolled ciggies fire falls off 'em all over the place)

Or looking like you rolled in the ashtray if you wear something white! :D

I'm constantly amazed at how much some vape... 150ml is about what I vape in a month. Using Kayfuns and occasional RDA -- I build my RDAs exactly the same as my Kayfuns, so they only increase my usage a tiny bit. Let's see... I recently figured out that my favorite ADV costs just a bit under 15 cents per ml to make... which means my ejuice runs about $22.50/mo. I couldn't even get 4 pks of smokes for that, so that $22.50 would have lasted me less than 4 days, rather than a whole month.

WIN!!!

I don't worry about the hardware costs; that's "infrastructure," not expenses; in accounting those costs are figured VERY differently. At one point when I studied accounting I learned how to figure amortization and depreciation, but that was about 27 yrs ago, I've forgotten the actual formulas. I just buy hardware when I can afford to do so, and I always look for bargains. The "operating expenses" are the only ones I really worry about, and at $22.50/mo -- let's call it $25/mo for simplicity -- I really AIN'T worried -- I'm spending about 7 times less than I did as a smoker. :D

That strikes me as double or triple the typical cost of a DIY juice. What are you putting in there that's so expensive?

WTA... $20.95/15ml for 24mg. also the Inawera shisha strawberry is on the costly side, for flavorings, but mainly it's the WTA. this is how it breaks down:

recipepage.jpg

That was when I was vaping the WTA at 5%; now it's at 4% so just a bit less. (the WTA figures to just a smidge under $1.40/ml)

I can already tell that I will be burning far more than $1.25 in e-juice daily.
.

Somebody or something must have :censored: in your Cheerios today. Anyways if you get 240ml of juice for $35 or you make your own for less, it still is cheaper on two fronts, time and money. With juice at $35 a bottle of 240ml that's .17 cents a ml. At 6ml a day that's 1.02/day. That's still better than .23 cents more you spend and the time it takes you to roll you're own.

So in your case you can roll 5 to 6 per minute, so in 4 minutes you can make 20. You forgot to mention the cost of a case to carry your cigs, so let's estimate $10.

You can get a regulated mod for like $15, a Joye 510 style battery and a tank for $20 with a rebuildable setup. You're cigarette press is $35 and how much for tubes?

Anyways, no need to come to a board dedicated to this form of intake and be nasty. Asking nicely goes a long way.

It appears you just read one of my first post here, not any of the follow posts up since then. I have discovered cheap vaping since that post.

I guess tapatalk auto-subscribed me and I saw your post not realizing it was made almost 2 months ago. I apologize for getting a bit incensed. A lot of anti-vape talk going around these days.

I used to smoke 1-2 packs a day for 14 yrs. I'm in my 30s with diagnosed asthma since 13. I'm seriously addicted to nicotine, but luckily I'm down to 3mg @ 6-10ml a day.

Love vaping. It's a hobby and an addiction for me. I got 3 reo grands and 3 rdas (rogue, derringer, and rm3).
