It is never too late to change a name. Starfish, jellyfish, etc have all been officially dropped by the scientific community. Ecig can be dropped if enough people want to make it happen.

this is a great idea OP ... we should probably get on this before the term eCig goes viral

OP ... how can I help?

Not sure but the sheer number of members here on ECF can certainly pool together and come up with say 5 of the best names then we could have a vote.
We are more than enough members to make a change. It's a start ain't it?
I call them e- vaporators

But they wouldn't if it was immoral or politicly incorrect to call them that. Such as we wouldn't refer to an Asian as "oriental" since about the 1970s, because it is now considered a derogatory term. I consider "e-cig" a derogatory term. Referring to my vaporizers as "e-cigs" is offensive and it needs to stop.

I'm lost on that..since the 70's?? What am I missing? How is it a derogatory term?

Edit: Not trying to hijack the thread, my brain stopped there and refuses to go further until it knows why...should have thought to use PM

Well, it is an insult, and you shouldn't refer to people like that. There are also many other words that are insults to other ethnic groups and races, but I won't go over them here.
Here is an excerpt that I just now looked up on wikipedia:
American English[edit]
In the United States, "Oriental" is often considered an antiquated, pejorative, and disparaging term. John Kuo Wei Tchen, director of the Asian/Pacific/American Studies Program and Institute at New York University, said the basic critique of the term developed in the 1970s. Tchen has said: "With the anti-war movement in the '60s and early '70s, many Asian Americans identified the term 'Oriental' with a Western process of racializing Asians as forever opposite 'others'."[7] In a press release related to legislation aimed at removing the term "oriental" from official documents of the State of New York, Governor David Paterson said: "The word 'oriental' does not describe ethnic origin, background or even race; in fact, it has deep and demeaning historical roots".[8]
