Next week at the National Conference on tobacco or Health (which should be renamed the National Conference on tobacco Prohibition and Propaganda, Ellen Hahn's colleague Carol Riker and others at the Univ of Kentucky's anti tobacco program are scheduled to present a poster that will criticize e-cigarette advocates for opposing smoking bans in Kentucky (that also ban e-cigarette use), and for filing FOA requests for the Univ of Kentucky's work on e-cigarettes.

They just seem to be unable to tell the difference between smoke and vapor, if they would just be smoke free instead of ANTZ we wouldn't write letters and make fools out of them every chance we get. They lie or try to slide ecigarettes through instead of leaving them out of smoke-free legislation and then wonder why were fighting them so hard. Big Pharma chooses its minions well.

Well, if you don't mind driving the 488 miles from Lexington to Richmond (Virginia, not Kentucky) in October (12th - 13th) you can come to Vapercon. VaperCon 2011

NOTE: I have notified the organizers that they need to edit the html code that displays the page title in links and search results to replace "2011" with "2012". Once they get it fixed, the link above will read "VaperCon 2012".

There I was at the Lexington Vape Meet just hoping that nurse Ellen Hahn would show up and try to tell her lies. I was ready and prepared to give the facts that would have shown just what a liar she really is concerning ecigs. :glare:
I think Ellen heard through the grape vine ...
The vapers were planning a hot welcoming party for her if she showed up.
:p

Yes and no. I work at the same university with her. And I have reported the incident to the Ethics committee. She may be tenured as a professor - and unlikely they would keep her from teaching - but her position as Director of the KY Tobacco-free Center could be up for grabs if she continues her power-hungry ways. That is a staff position and has no tenured guarantees :)

In this economy, I'd hate to see anyone actually fired - but she definitely needs to be put in her place and told that her authority has a strong boundary and does not go beyond the confines of the campus.

I think your comments are well founded. I watched the Youtube of her interview on WKYT. I thought her comments not accurate and not suited for either a "scientist" or a health care provider. I interpret what she said as that it is better to smoke than to use e-cigs. Much information is lacking on e-cigs but the scientist in me says that e-cigs are much less harmful than smoking. Maybe not perfect but much less harmful. And if she wants to give the matter some thought, e-cigs much more likely to be abstained from than smoking. Perhaps a more rational "treatment program" from smoking cigarettes is to wean oneself from the devils first and then to step to weaning from her "non-FDA approved" method. That she wants/wishes to vilify those that try e-cigs to end their habits is, to me, unconscionable for a "health care provider". That FDA has not approved something does not mean in my frame of reference that the product/drug in question is bad but simply that FDA has not approved it. If public heath is truly her goal, "misguided" is the most charitable comment that I can make of her comments on WKYT
