This hearing isn't about e-cigarette regulations so not to worry.

Kristin, I dont understand what your saying , that the meeting has nothing to do with ecigs, I kind of disagree,, and why would ECF put a header on it's pages that states =

On Monday December 17th the FDA is holding a hearing on electronic cigarettes that will report to congress. Needless to say, this will be very important for the future of vaping. ECF members will be making presentations.

Please see this thread for details of the webcast and do try to tune in to watch our members who have stepped up to fight for your right to use e-cigarettes.

The entire meeting seems to have been about smokeless tobacco so far ???

Oh, no, let's help classify people, and come up with lots of classifications -- thinking of quitting -- kinda trying -- multiple failed attempts -- maybe ...

We need a new study, with Labels, to classify people. Maybe it'll go into the next DSM.

I was in the "Been there, done that, decided to smoke till I die" classification until 3.5 years ago and now I'm a non-smoker without a single clinical trial or approval by the FDA. Whoda thunk it.

I haven't finished reading the whole thread yet, but I want to stop and comment on the "confrontational" concerns...

First of all, you should all be glad I wasn't speaking, because I would be using cuss words.
And my theme would be "FDA and Big Pharma, should they be tried for murder?" so yeah, confrontational for sure.

We have plenty of qualified people speaking up on our behalf who play the nicey-nicey game with them.
But if you ask me, we also need people to show them that we are ...... off and ready to stand up and shout about what's really going on!

This is our lives here people, not some fun little game of words.

We need to put a little bit of fear into them or they will walk all over us with impunity.
So yeah, I'm all for "confrontational" because it is long overdue and sorely needed.

Not for nothing DC2, but Big Pharma has the FDA in there back pocket, and in my opinion the FDA basically works for Big Pharma, no one will ever admit to this but it basically does, and no one can put a scare into the FDA, they would laugh you right out of the meeting if you approached them like this, the people that are speaking on the Ecig worlds behalf are doing a very good job so far.

Well, Nicotrol is the FDA's current approved oral inhaler that is closest to a PV. It is prescription required and also comes as a nasal spray. How do you think it feels to have nicotine sprayed into your nasal passages? Probably LOTS happy about that :p

The FDA just updated their list on 12/12/2012 at FDA 101: Smoking Cessation Products

NRT stands for Nicotine Replacement Therapy. NRTs include things like patches, gum, lozenges, inhalers and tablets, It's of my opinion that ecigs fall under this :) and its why we are all listening and the ecig topic is and will be coming up at this meeting, A LOT, MORE TO COME FOR SURE !
