The reviews on FT are mostly favorable, too... 3.5+ and up...

I'm not advocating for this device, but I do feel it got a baddish rap. I find it interesting that most negative reviews come from English writers, and although I cannot read them (and I'm too lazy this morning to run them through translate), the Russian reviewers seem to love 'em.

In fairness, my assessment was based on my own personal experiences, which were significantly different from yours (acknowledged). Everyone I know had similar experiences, except for you (which I'm in no way doubting here). Ours all were constantly bopping over to New Coil/Same Coil, and the vape was discernibly choppy next to the authi.

You probably wouldn't know this but I was very hopeful for it to be adequate, because I was a little upset with "Authi & Company" at the time. I was very disappointed when it didn't go the way I had hoped for. Now if I had received the one that YOU got, I'd likely be singing a very different tune these days, on numerous fronts.

Instead, I've embraced the authi for its good points, and left my bad-taste experiences with Company behind.

Adjustments are often necessary with any plan. ;)

I'm thrilled to know at least one US based person who has a "good-experience" unit.

All these quotes! I'm morphing into Unc. :D

Utopia
The "fam" not including the "emergency sbs" knight/lead v1, the "luxury" box, and the wayward schtick clone which still hasn't found its way back home.

Wonder if some Russian guy paid 'em off........ ;)

I'm not really sure the bad rap was unsubstantiated tho. From what I've seen (and my own experience), unless one were comparing authie to klown, it would be difficult to give a fair comparison. DPL and I had both. And we found the same lacks in the klowns and the same strong(er) points in the authies.

But, ya know...... mods are subjective.

And at the end of the day, if one finds a happy vape, that's really ALL that matters.

I couldn't agree more... The authentic with the DNA40 is def better and I'd much prefer one. I had not had the opportunity to try an Authentic DNA40 until I got.a hold of the Hana. It IS better... However, 5 $50 mods or 1 $250 mod? Nah... I'll deal with the niggles... Which, for me, were just niggles...

You could always swap out the chip with an authentic. The DNA60s are supposed to ship very soon w/ full Escribe functionality. Could breathe new life into that old clown.

Chiming in on the Xvo clones: unfortunately they are pretty bad...the casing/paint/buttons etc. are pretty good, but the chipset is terrible. Nothing gamebreaking, but lots of little issues.
My GF had 3 of them, and I had 2, all had such issues. I think you were very luckily to get a good one.
In the end we got rid of them....I think most ended in the bin.....that was my first brush with a clone...never again LOL.....
And with the release of the Knigths (V1 and V2) I would never recommend the Xvo clone, the Knights are better than the clones.....the authentic Xvo however remains unbeaten.....

I realize that many here might not be interested in such news, but just in case any ARE:
Mods by Chels - mini-ecig

The squeaky wheels are getting their oil (more XvoSticks to come).

oooh I am soo tempted...but I have way to many mods already, I promised myself.....but if they put a DNA60 in there, and if possible a 24mm atty hole w/o disturbing the form factor to much (wishfull thinking?)...I think I'm gonna pull the trigger.....

:D

I understand the temptation, Dru. I'm OK with the 40's (at my chart-toppin' 11 watts of pure, unadulterated power), but I know that there's a group who've been trying to convince them to make more.

There are some happy folks right now, on a multitude of continents. :thumb:

Well, my Smoant Knight V2 arrived here in southern Florida from GearBest today. It was ordered on 5 Nov.

I just use it in the VW power mode, so I can't comment on how the temp control works, but it does a fine job powering my Kayfun Lite-Plus V2 that has a 1.3 ohm single Kanthal coil installed ... since I am a 'Tootle Puffer', I fire the coil at 12.0 watts of power. Anyway, it does just as good of a job as my eVic VTwo Mini in powering the Kayfun.

I have only three small complaints ...

1. I wish they didn't require you to have to push one of the regulatory buttons every time you remove and replace your atomizer. You always need to push either the plus or the minus regulatory button to tell the mod that you are either using a new coil or the same coil (you have 2 choices). It won't fire until you push one of those regulatory buttons first ... It should be programmed to think that every time you remove and replace the atomizer, it will have a new coil, and read the coil's ohm every time it's attached (like every other VW mod I have ever owned does). Just a slight pain in the .... to have to press an extra button before the mod will fire.

2. Since the atomizer sets so low in the mod, the little airflow inlet hole in the bottom-side of my Kayfun sometimes gets blocked by my index finger (I press the fire button with my middle finger). This obviously cuts off the airflow to the atomizer. Due to all the various designs of the different atomizers available, this will not be a problem with many of them, but with the Kayfun Lite, it sometimes is a problem (depending how the airflow hole lines up after it is attached to the Knight V2).

3. A very small deal, but like others here have said, the magnetic battery door does, at times, move downwards just slightly. The magnets are very strong, but there is no 'lip' on the bottom of the mod's outer frame to keep the battery cover from wanting to move slightly downward when you are handling it.

Anyway, I really like this little mod, and it was truly worth the money ... Really a clever design. :) ... And more available power than I will ever use in my style of vaping.

BTW ... I don't have scale, but the Knight V2 weighs about the same as the eVic VTwo Mini (not heavy at all).

Below is a photo I just took of the Knight V2 next to my eVic VTwo Mini. The VTwo mini is a pretty small mod, but towers over the little Knight V2. Of course, since the atomizer sets partially down inside the Knight V2, it really makes everything look a lot smaller. Both mods have Kayfun Lite-Plus V2 atomizers attached to them.

Happy to hear it finally arrived.
  1. Yeah, that coil prompt can be annoying but it is a simple press of a button. One of the reasons I'm gonna try to put a DNA60 in at least one of mine when Evolv finally ships them. A newer top fill atty can make that annoyance a thing of the past. Guessing your not top filling your KFL with a finger over the air intake like I used to. You could do that right on the mod if you did.
  2. Try to train yourself to rest your index finger on the cage in that orientation or try thumb firing orientation to eliminate the possibility altogether (natural position for stealth).
  3. I tend to notice side to side motion at the bottom of the battery door more so than up & down. Think a little strip of gaffers either side of sled on battery door would sort it.
  4. You will really come to appreciate the compact size and weight of this little mod. Great for on the go vaping & sneaking a hit in public where it is frowned upon & no one noticing. That KFL is perfect for that because it doesn't throw huge clouds that are tough to hide.
  5. Looks good, big size difference.
  6. pics on a scale near bottom of first or second page Smoant Knight V2 thread.
Enjoy it and share your thoughts after some time with it.

One of the 70w teslas my roomie has been using just went into 'long smoking' on the display while she was outside, spewed liquid all over, drained the battery, etc. these things have any sort of warranty? at this point they are all probably headed to the trash

Probably the standard 30 day one that they (usually) offer but most answers can be found on their site.

Figures I'd hear this after I finally broke down and ordered a 40w & a 70w from VaporBeast on BF. Timing is everything I guess. Thanks for the info to keep an eye out for this type of thing.

Appreciated.
