Review, Little Sister BoxMods.net 67.95
I ordered my Little Sister Variable Voltage Mod from Boxmods.net on 8/10 The basic unit sells for 64.99 with a three dollar up sell for black. At the time it was mentioned that there would be a few extra black ones made with the upcoming batch, so I ordered Black in hopes of getting a unit in less then the advertised 14 days.
The unit arrived on the 18th and the Mailman having experienced my nearly rabid behavior with delivery's simply tossed the envelope into the box as he rolled by, never slowing or making eye contact.
When I finally got the envelope open (I keep a giant meat clever near the door) I was immediately impressed with the ultra light weight and general shininess of this mod. Without batteries it weighs less then the standard 510 battery and it looks like it came from apple or something.
The inside, where you would expect a bunch of wires and other hot glued in electrical gunk is pristine. A small circuit board, a tiny button and what I think is a heat sink is all you see besides the battery connection. It all makes for a very neat and tidy package. The actual Battery slots are marked for polar position and the batteries fit very well, no need to force them or find some sort of spacer.
The case is made of light weight, high gloss plastic. The two halves fit together with a very solid snap and once its closed up there is no rattle or loose feeling. Opening the unit up to change the batteries is no problem simply slip a finger tip or two into the slot and press and it opens like charm.
Once you insert the batteries and close it up the fun begins. You will have of course already seen the little voltage adjustment dial. It's molded to have a little grip around the edge to aid in adjustment. No play in the dial at all but just enough resistance to keep it stable in your pocket. The little arrow should be pointing to the 6 O'Clock position which indicates 0 voltage or off. starting in the 7 O'Clock position are a series of bumps that help you to regulate your voltage.
My multimeter is broken so I haven't defined the bumps but I believe they are .5v steps between 3.0 and 6v. My favorite spot is right around the last two bumps.
Slapping on a 510 atty I worked my way from low to high checking out the vapor production and warmth. 45 minutes later I got up off the floor and decided to not do these types of tests with 36mg liquid.
ANYWAY
The vapor production was decent at every level. At around 4.5-5v it really stepped up. A good full hit, very flavorful but not as warm as I expected. Even at the top end when the machines putting out pretty massive plumes of vapor there isn't a whole lot of heat.
Here I should explain that my last all day vape was the Bartleby with a 1.7LR atty. With that gear the hits were very warm. Vapor was about the same as the highest setting on the LS but the Bart hits were much warmer.
So I grabbed my 1.7 LR atty and took that thru the paces on the LS and surprisingly I did not blow the ATTY but it did get very very warm and at top end the flavors tasted slightly burned.
The dual 10440 set up worries me. I was able to get through the day yesterday without recharge but it was a conscious effort I think that normally the batteries might get me 6-8 hours of regular use which is fine, I just have to wait for those other batteries I ordered before I leave the house.
The Little Sister is a masterpiece of design. It is very stylish and has that ultra finished look that one really wants when spending their hard earned dough. It is affordable in relation to some of the other units available and I would recommend its purchase to anyone that wanted the versatility of multi volt in a small beautiful package.
Now bring on the Big Brother, or the Dutch Uncle...
