I personnaly dont think they are that great for stoping (nicotine) they are good or great for stoping cigaretts, but look kinda dumb at work I think... still abit healthier and kinda more money efficient. and if your a big smoker like i was u might overdose on nic a lil at first cuz u will puff like a maniac searching for the other ingredients in tobbaco other then nic... but the other ingrediants are not there.. u kinda have to do your time or smoke 1 or 2 cigs a day when the e cig really wont do... i craved the other ingredients 4 1 week then the e cig became fully satisfying...

Hey Elementz....

I also started smoking when I was 11 yrs old, and am 41 now.... I have tried the patch, gum, welbutrin, chantix, cold turkey... all of them failed. Some I never stoppped smoking with and others I stopped for up to 1 yr.

E-cigs have changed my life.... 2 weeks in I am analog (cig) free, and while I still have cravings...they are tolerable with my ecig!! I fully endorse the fact that vaping SAVED MY LIFE!!

So will ecigs be the "end all" and make it 100% easy to quit? NO is the honest answer. Do they work better than anything else I have tried... you bet your sweet petunias they do!! I would say all the other quitting methods were a 30% solution at best. Yes it helped with the physcial addication to the drug...but the mental addiction, at least for me, was the 70% issue. Ecigs take care of "most" of my physical, and almost all of my mental (hand to mouth, blowing stuff out...type thing).

You will still need some willpower, you will still need to 100% make up your mind to put cigs down.

As others have said the best way, again for me as well, is dont deprive yourself of cigs at first. But try and supplement some of your smokes with your vape. In my 3rd day of vaping I COMFORTABLY went down from 30 cigs a day to 8 cigs.... Take a week...take a month to get there... just keep trying and stretching. Before you know it you will prefer your vape to a cig.

I knew this time came for me when I was waiting for my wife in the Wal-Mart parking lot after we had eaten dinner across the street. Normally after dinner I HAD to have a cig. I had both my PV in one pocket and a pack of smokes in the other. I went and pulled out the PV and happily started to vape. It wasnt until my 5th or 6th vape I had realized what I had done....

THere are TONS of good folks here, follow thier advice (start with something more than a KR808 cig look alike if you were a pack a day or more smoker!!!)..... GOOD LUCK!!

Have you tried a genuine ego? You really think that .3 volts makes a huge difference?

I have not. However, the recommendation is based on what the OP asked for combined with some math. Everything I've seen indicates the standard eGo (I have also seen non-standard with larger, higher volt batteries) is 3.3v under load. Other units provide 3.7v.

Watt's Law states that Power = (Voltage * Voltage) / Resistance. So let's say we're using a 2.0 ohm carto on both.

(3.3v * 3.3v) / 2ohm = 5.445 Watts

(3.7v * 3.7v) / 2ohm = 6.845 Watts

That's a difference of a little over 20% power delivered to the juice for vaping.

Im still pretty new at this too, but my first kit was a Joye mega dual coil cartomizer kit. I am extremely happy with this. The joye batteries is what I only buy, and be careful, just cuz they say eGo doesnt mean they are joye. The only thing with the Mega carto, is your stuck with that flavor. I also bought the 510 dual coil cartos just to sample my juices with. Once I find a juice that will be for my daily vaping, I will fill the mega carto....once full it lasts all day and part of the next. I know all this seems so overwhelming at first, but you will get the hang of it. I know Im starting too....lol!!! This is a great place to be, especially if your new at it!!

First of all, what I'm looking for is an e-cigarette that has great throat hit and lots of vape. My father purchased one recently, though I'm not sure which one he has. It's a black pipe with a gold rim that separates the "filter" area from the rest and says "janty". I did try his, but it barely produced any "smoke" and felt extremely weak. I want to find something that will produce a lot of thick smoke and feel of a real cigarette. So far I've looked at the Volcano Inferno. Any suggestions about the Volcano Inferno, or if someone feels there is something better please let me know. I would like the price range to be ~$100. Thanks in advance, and hope to learn a lot from everyone here!

Oh...and I thought the same as you when I started. All I wanted was something that made lots of vapor, good TH... and bought a KR808 cig like PV. Mainly for vanity reasons (didnt want to look like I was smoking a big dildo...lol...hope I can say that word here).

After a week with KR808, and going thru 2 batteries at work and one or two at home .... I bought a Buzz Pro and tank from Notcigs

First thing I noticed when I got it.... it is a LOT smaller than the pictures make it look. Second was ALL THE VAPE it made!!!! I was never so satisfied with my KR808.

Now my buddy is still using his KR808's and he has used my Buzz. While he likes my Buzz vapor and taste better... he still sticks with his 808's.

So in the end its whatever makes you happy.... I personally needed LOTS of vapor and taste or I wasnt satisfied enough to put the cancer sticks down for good.

As pbusardo says (check out his reviews on youtube.... IMHO the BEST reviewer out there) "what ever PV or juice works for you to keep you off the real things is the RIGHT one"

Still pretty new myself, I think a general finding will be that most would recommend the eGo when first starting.
The eGo is more a model/type of ecig then anything else and called different things by different vendors.
The 650mah Ego is standard battery 900mah and 1000mah are longer batteries that have a longer usefull battery life.
I believe the average if there is such a thing uses about 50-100mah per hour so a 650mah battery should last between 6-12hrs a 900mah about 1/3 longer and 1000mah slightly longer then the 900mah. You might think of mah like a gas tank in your car 650amah like 6.5 gallons vs 900mah being a 9 gallon tank etc.
I was a 2ppd(2pack per day) menthol smoker I started out vapeing a eliquid called USA Green which is suppose to be similiart to Marl menthol and a bottle of Menthol one wasnt enough menthol and the other was to much, I ended up mixing 5drps USA Green with 2 drps menthol to make something I found enjoyable might mix and match to get what you like.
Sorry getting kinda long here.
Another thing you mentioned is the Lava Tube by Volcanoe it is also availble by another vendor but he calls it the Cylon. Alot of this stuff comes from China a vendor orders it and slapps there own name on it and resells it here in the states.

Wow thanks guys for all the ideas. I did sleep on it, and I think I have it cut down to a few options now. My first being one of the eGo "replicas" (T-rex/Inferno/KGO/etc). If I were to get one of these, still can't decide what the difference between them are. I also searched around this forum, and found that I could buy the 808 eGo battery or the Echo battery, and then just buy my own cartos from a different website. I'm curious though, are those big e-cigarettes like the Inferno an 808? The reason I ask is because I read that I would need a higher mah battery to be able to use LR cartos. I'm not positive that's what I need/want so I'm kind of on the fence about that still.

808, 510, etc denotes the connection type. eGo/clones including the Inferno are generally 510. The Pig Cig is 808. You can't mix and match the components with different connections without an adapter.

510 is the most common and many retailers will state if the connection is anything besides 510.

I went ahead and put together 2 starter kits for you. You originally mentioned the Inferno so that's the first 1.

Volcano Inferno:

Inferno kit
Magma refillable cartomizer pack
Needle tip bottle cap
Extra bottle of juice
Total $107.96 + free shipping

The second is the T-Rex from a shop called Perfect Electronic Cigarette (PEC). I got my juice and a couple parts from them...very happy:

T-Rex Kit
510 cartomizer pack
3x15mL bottles of juice in different strengths
Syringe for filling the cartos
Total $93.46 + $7-10 shipping if you order before the end of Jan and use the coupon code happy2012

So there's 2 choices I think most here would not complain too much about either of those to get you started. After you see how they work for you and start to understand what you like, then you can start looking for different parts, accessories and liquids to make your experience even better :)

Where are you getting the 3.3?

I've used them inconstantly for a year- both the Joye ego, Riva, Smoketek and honestly notice no difference as far as vaping. The only difference to me is the Joye batteries lasted longer before they died.

I do notice a difference with the echo-e 1300 4.2 V battery. But as far as the Riva, Joye, no- name- nope.

We're talking about the same batts right? The Joye 650mAh. Several threads state 3.3v and this one shows even lower on a multimeter. I would wager that this is done intentionally to protect batter charge life and overall cycle life.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html

As for vapor production differences, in theory under the same resistance, higher volts should produce more and warmer vapor. But the difference may be small enough not to be subjectively noticed. :)

Some people may be extremely sensitive to the change and may notice it. Just my own personal experience FWIW, I really didn't notice. I only bought the Joye batteries because at the time, they had a 6 month warranty. Now it's two months so I'd go for the cheapest.

I do like Riva batteries. Just bought a couple on sale as a matter of fact. I would just recommend keeping an eye on them when they're old - on their last leg and you can sort of tell when they're ready to go. I had two Riva batteries where the battery got stuck 'on'. It was sort of scary,

Wow, you got scads of good info here! The only thing I can add is that the Kgo has a little longer lasting battery than some of the others. It is 1100mah.

Another one that is worth considering is the e-power. It has separate batteries that you charge, as opposed to the Ego types which ARE the battery. Easier and cheaper to replace batteries.

Hey guys, new here from Atlanta, GA. A little about myself. I'm currently 25 years old, and have been smoking for 14-15 years (yeah I started really early). However, I'm now wanting to quit smoking and have heard about these new e-cigarettes that help you quit and are much better for you. I've been doing extensive research on which company I should go with, and I'm completely stumped. So, with that, I have a few questions I would like to ask the gurus of this forum.
First of all, what I'm looking for is an e-cigarette that has great throat hit and lots of vape. My father purchased one recently, though I'm not sure which one he has. IMHO id stay away from Volcano products.. there just RE BRANDED Joytech parts with a new paint job and the QC is so beyond lacking your gonna end up returning everything you bought within 6 months for replacements or " Store credit " since they no longer feel its needed to give you your actual money back for defective crap products.
