Hello everyone! Heres the back story: I Quit smoking cigarettes almost 1 year ago (6-6-2009) and I was a heavy vaper using mostly 36mg liquid at 3.7 - 5 volts mods and used that as practically my pacifier for about 10 of those months.

Ive gone down to 24mg for 30ml of e-liquid, then 14mg for 30ml of e-liquid, im now at 6mg for 30ml of e-liquid and have used almost half the bottle so far :). The only thing I have really missed is the TH, however now that im down this low on the nic I feel more normal than I have in a long time.

Im a little bit nervous about the final drop down from 6mg to 0mg nic and have 30ml of that waiting for me when the 6mg juice is gone, however I have no plan really to give up the vaping because Im still addicted to the hand-to mouth thing. Besides, the novelty of this life saving device has STILL not worn off lol. I figured based on how ive done this that the first nic drop was a 12mg reduction in nic, then 10, 8, and finally only a 6mg drop to 0.

Has anyone done anything similar? Im curious because I havnt been nicotine free for about 14 years and dont want to be nic-jonesing all the time 8-o and fail at this. Sorry for the loong post lol.

the throat hit is missing from zero nic but with extra flavor it seems to be fine.Tried the vodka /grain for throat hit and it did not work for me.The hand to mouth thing is critical for me when going out, but now that im vaping it seems to not require the immediate attention of smoking(lighting, ashing, putting out, high price frenzy of using cause it cost a lot, etc). Good luck zero vaping and if you jones put some nic in and satisfy guilt free.

I'm doing the same thing. Quit smoking 2 months ago and have weaned myself from 24 mg/ml to 10 mg/ml. I don't feel I need the nicotine at all anymore but my husband tells me not to rush it. I think he is afraid I might start smoking again if I push it. But I won't- I'm done with cigarettes forever. I am hooked on the vaping and I use LR atty on a tornado so I still get a throat hit but it is the vapor that I love. I'm afraid that the FDA is going to make it difficult to buy the nicotine so I am setting myself up not to need it. Good luck.

Its nice to see I have company :). If I jonesy too much for nic I have a ton (like 800 ml or more) of high-med nic juice to add some nic to my juice (or DIY). I stocked up last year and went overboard and my e-juice is going to go bad anyways at some point. I will NEVER go back to analogs, and anything the FDA or my biggest current threat, The NYS Nanny Ban, may do/pass will not make me go back :D. Ill post back on my progress as theres only about 1/2 bottle of 6mg to go before my no nic attempt. One thing I want to point out though is I am getting more hungry lately, but am having better sleep. I guess the good with the bad huh .

Awesome, I have been weening myself off the nic slowly too. I'm down to 6 mg from 24 mg myself. And I'm probably going to be doing a 3mg bottle just for a little added emotional security, lol. I'm never going back to traditional cigs too, and I can see many reasons to quit vaping.

1 the price of atty's.

2 the price of Mods

3 inconsistent juice flavors

4 inconsistent juice stock (in Canada at least)

5 constantly being bothered by onlookers saying "What the hell is that thing? Are you smoking a pen? Is that for getting high? Are you messed up on goofballs?"

6 being expected to be a guru of electronic cigarettes just because I own one

7 Losing your best atty/battery/drip tip is a thousand times more aggravating than washing or losing a pack of traditional cigarettes

8 I never have any Kleenex when I actually need it for what it's meant to be used for. It is being devoted to the cause of blowing out atty's/ wiping down the battery/ my hands instead of my nose during allergy season

9 Why not quit the nic? You're already half way there

10 Always having to be messing around getting fresh batteries/ carts/ atty's/ dripping/ making sure not to over-drip.... lol

Anyway kinda off topic but there is hope and plenty of reasons to be quitting vaping.

Keep at it! You won't be sorry.

:toast::toast:WAY TO GO!!!!! WOOT!!!! Yep, me too!!
Started vaping in October 2009, after smoking 2 packs Camel Turkish Golds/Marlboro Reds for 28 years.

24mg < 18mg < 12mg < 10mg < 8mg < 6-4mg now. I have 25mg nic juice for mixing and a bottle of 24mg made up juice just in case I need something to get over a "hump".

Now that I have the mg down, I need to start cutting down the amount I vape but all in due time. I still can't believe I'm cig free!!

Last analog March 20, 2009. Nicotine free since June 9, 2009. I kept a little stash w/nicotine---I actually still have it because I keep forgetting to do something with it. Or maybe I'm just not ready to get rid of it.
I guess the first week nicotine free was the worse but it was more the fear of actually going without.
After that, it’s was somewhat of a breeze.

And, yes, I still vape. Not like I did at the beginning though. In my efforts to quit over many a year, something would always get me started again. The main thing was hanging around other people who smoked. I still do that so if I get the yen, I use my NicoStick and don’t think twice about smoking.

Yup, im going to keep a bottle of 24mg (unflavored) with me just in case, the main thing is im cigarette free down from chain smoking :). I thought about using 3mg as a bridge to 0, but as it is I feel like im getting about nothing at 6mg, I have to chain vape just to get my heart rate slightly elevated, and that may be just placebo effect. I would fear going without nic liquid as well but the knowledge of just having it should be a big help.
Im so low on 6mg juice in this bottle now, I may have only enough to vape for the early morning so 2morrow this experiment begins! Im hopeful but uneasy but the worst that could happen is having to go back up and try it even slower next time :).

I suck at judging how long e-liquid will last lol, but as of yesterday about 7:15pm, I ran out of every drop of my 6mg liquid. As of now im using 0mg, no more than that since that time. The hardest part was this morning, I felt real wierd. No desire for a cigarette or anything, but, just something missing. Other than that the good news is, it just feels like a 6mg drop, which is nothing compared to the last couple a nic drops, and im feeling like I have succeeded so far :) easier than I coulda ever thought of doing in my chain smoking days of yesteryear. And yes, I am somewhat getting used to no throat hit, and missing it much less than i thought I would. Thank goodness. I will post back on my progress, but so far so good :)

PROPS! I keep chasing a throat hit, and upping my nic.

How do/did you do it? TH is my need, not yours? Capsaicin? I need info! hehee

LOL I love TH and because of it I never thought id be at this level (basement 0nic). However, every time I lowered the nic, the TH slowly was reduced. Maybe thats how I am so able to get used to virtually no TH. Its actually really surprising to me. When I wake up 2morrow or the next day or..., I get the feeling that Ill be craving the TH but ive gotten this far :toast: I cant let it get to me.

After a chain of events yesterday, just had to hit up some 24mg unflavored juice. Good news is I went over 4 days and some odd hours without nic pretty smoothly, and intend to keep it at 0 from this point on and try this again. When I hit the 24, it was like, oh heavenly TH like never before but the nic didnt feel so good .

How did those four days go? Any weird side effects?

At first it seemed too easy, but then I had the munchies all the time and a weird feeling that something was just missing. A good side effect though was vivid dreams, but the munchies are worrying me a bit. I just don't want to gain any more weight, so I may have to change around my plan to include some nic at certain times or something.

Yeah, those dreams are great. :D That dosen't sound too bad. I'm eventually going to have to try and do the same but it will be a little while. I have a stockpile of 12mg juice right now.

Keep up the posts. I too want to get off the merry-go-round, so to speak. Currently vaping at 24mg, but thinking I will go with a doubler and 48mg flavor from Tasty Vapor next time around and start cutting it down to 18mg. Seems do-able :)

I never thought I'd be analog free and here I am contemplating eventual nic free :) lol

Update: I been using 11-24mg juice with occasional 36mg just for kicks. I am going to try this again but am going to create an excercize regime well before dropping back to 0 nic, besides, I want to get rid of some belly fat I have  and get into shape. Being back on the nic constantly has given me a better prospective coming off of 4 and a half days without. Nicotine is truly like caffeine but with a significant appetite supressant effect, as we all pretty much know. Will post back when Ive made any significant progress, which could be awhile, but I do look foward to being non-nicotine dependant.
