Have you considered merging the durability of a mech with the ease of changing a Kick module ?
My first mod was a Sigelei ZMAX. It was really good (albeit a little too large for my taste; I had moved from the "e-Go world"). But, in less than one year, I started having issues with the button - it would frequently misfire.
Later, I bought a Roller by Atmizzo. It's much smaller (I valued that), quite sturdy, durable, and easily repairable (can be totally disassembled and properly cleaned, lots od spare parts if needed - never used one still). The idea of having a softer, copper thread ring (that can be replaced for 4 Eur) in order to PROTECT the steel threading of BOTH the mod and the atomizer was also a great one. Basically, with proper maintenance and some spare parts I believe it can last for years. I have one for an year now, and it's still like new - only replaced the threaded copper ring once. That is meant to protect the threading of your atomizers, making THEM last longer too. And it's "only" around 120 Eur - not cheap, but still cheaper than some other mods.
As for electronics, it works very well with the Kick module, which can be easily replaced if something goes wrong. (That's yet to happen

)
No fiddling with chips, no soldering, no buying the whole damn thing all over again - just replace a simple part and problem solved.
Of course, the Kick will not give you VV, or remaining battery charge, or read you resistance, or all those fancy things the Sigelei used to have - but it gives me all the features I valued, anyway: VW, reversed polarity protection, overcurrent protection and overdisharge protection.
Having that setup is like having a small, durable regulated mod with only the most basic (but most important and useful) electronic features.
Just my 2 cents.
