Well scrolling through some of the DYI and E-juice threads, I have found many posts where ppl are looking for that exact flavor that they got from their old friends..the analogs..Well I can tell you that exact flavor can't be replicated because of the chemical taste of
those nastys'..I smoked a Marlboro a couple of months after I started vaping and immediately tasted a chemical I use to use while
working in manufacturing..That taste was Toluene..Yeah, I have tasted it before while working with that nasty stuff..It has a
unique flavor if you get even a small drop in your mouth, you never forget it..lol

Here are a few of the chemicals in tobacco smoke, and other places they are found:

  • Acetone – found in nail polish remover
  • Acetic Acid – an ingredient in hair dye
  • Ammonia – a common household cleaner
  • Arsenic – used in rat poison
  • Benzene – found in rubber cement
  • Butane – used in lighter fluid
  • Cadmium – active component in battery acid
  • Carbon Monoxide – released in car exhaust fumes
  • Formaldehyde – embalming fluid
  • Hexamine – found in barbecue lighter fluid
  • Lead – used in batteries
  • Naphthalene – an ingredient in moth balls
  • Methanol – a main component in rocket fuel
  • Nicotine – used as insecticide
  • Tar – material for paving roads
  • Toluene - used to manufacture paint..and in other manufacturing

Toluene

108-88-3
Hazard Summary-Created in April 1992; Revised in July 2012

Toluene is added to gasoline, used to produce benzene, and used as a solvent. Exposure to toluene may occur from breathing ambient or indoor air affected by such sources. The central nervous system (CNS) is the primary target organ for toluene toxicity in both humans and animals for acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) exposures. CNS dysfunction and narcosis have been frequently observed in humans acutely exposed to elevated airborne levels of toluene; symptoms include fatigue, sleepiness, headaches, and nausea. CNS depressionhas been reported to occur in chronic abusers exposed to high levels of toluene. Chronic inhalation exposure of humans to toluene also causes irritation of the upper respiratory tract and eyes, sore throat, dizziness, and headache. Human studies have reported developmental effects, such as CNS dysfunction, attention deficits, and minor craniofacial and limb anomalies, in the children of pregnant women exposed to high levels of toluene or mixed solvents by inhalation. EPA has concluded that that there is inadequate information to assess the carcinogenic potential of toluene.
Please Note: The main sources of information for this fact sheet are EPA's Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS), which contains information on inhalation chronic toxicity of toluene and the RfC, oral chronic toxicity and the RfD, and the carcinogenic effects of toluene, and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR's) Toxicological Profile for Toluene.

Well, there it is so keep vaping and stay away from all those nasty chemicals! :vapor:

Thanks for the recipe, you just took DIY to a whole new level and I can find most of the ingredients around the house and locally...

Been vaping for around 2 months now and it didn't take me long to figure out I don't like the tobacco flavors at all.

I truly enjoy some of the flavors I have most which are vanillas, coffees, bakery flavors, etc.

At this point I can't even imagine smoking an analog ever again.

At least that's how it has worked out for me personally.

In fact the only tobacco juice I even like is Southern Classic from Halo.

It is something really different when I get tired of some of the others and it is really strong.

I am really happy with the juices I have now and after a year I can let the insurance know that I am a non-smoker!!!yeah!!

Never thought that would happen.

Much agreed. Even leaves a little tobacco residue in my mouth. Never figured out why people vape baked goods and fruits...

Because they like them.

But anyway, HHV's NET Purity line is the closest I've come to finding that "true" real cigarette flavor. Legend, Dark Horse, and Hunstman come to mind.

Good idea when I'm helping someone to convert. I'm usually around older gents that laugh when I mention flavors.

Didn't mean to offend with my previous statement on flavors, Some people just have different mindsets, that's all.
When I grab a screwdriver out of my tool box, doesn't need to be polished, colorful, or have an LED on it. It's serving the function...

Cigarettes don't even taste like cigarettes. What I mean is, the "flavor" of a cigarette literally goes up in flames the second it is ignited, where the flavor of eliquid comes alive once heated. However, you can most definitely get the taste of tobacco from eliquid, the taste of ash from elqiud and the taste of a fresh pack of smoke's aroma--and if mixed with a deft hand can almost approximate the taste of a burning cig (though it never really does)--but the actual taste sensation of combustion only comes from, well, combustion. Combustion, a chemical reaction, is generally what people are looking for when on the search for a cig vape, which is funny considering that isn't based in flavor, though it may have a "taste," but not one you can bottle.

Now that is a quote worthy of a STICKY!

    Succinct, clear and informative. :toast:

Where is this eliquid obtained from? Wild guess to assume it's from one of the uber-expensive WTA- NET places?

Nah, try Paris from want2vape. Now, don't get mad at me if it tastes nasty, but it tastes just like the Euro cigs Gauloises. If you want a lighter version of it (and also much sweeter, but still pretty solid with the ash and smokiness) try want2vapes Smoke (it uses the same tobaco extract as Paris, but with less of it and the addition of ethyl maltol). Now, all those qualities generally aren't going to reveal much in the way of traditional American style cigs though.

Fresh pack smell can be found in liquids like GoodeJuice's Acadian Gold (and many others).

Ash taste can be found in various eliquids that use tobacco absolute, but most notably in Mom and Pops Vapor Shop liquids like RYO and Bud's Blend (but without the authentic smoke and tobacco qualitiy of Paris from w2v).

You'll really find a quality taste of tobacco with a good amount of smokiness, but no ash, in a liquid like Apache from Mountain Oak Vapor.

The closest you may be able to find for an authentic cig (American Spirit), but without combustion, will be from Natuirallyextractedtobacco.com with the liquid Big Spirit. I bet if Big Spirit had a touch of tobacco absolute it would be incredible, but that's not to say it needs it by any stretch of the imagination.

A lot of people say that Dark Horse from HHV tastes like a cig, but I don't think so--it's got too much flavor, though it does kinda resemble some aspects of a cig, but barely.

The taste of combustion, on the the hand, can be found only in smoking.

I disagree that cigs don't taste like cigs as flavor is changed from burning one. Not entirely disagree, nor looking to go back and forth. But it reminds me of coffee. Smell of coffee in a coffee house is, IMO, much better than 98% of all coffees I've ever had. Same with beer. That great smell of beer is better than the good taste of beer. And same with a bunch of other things.

If you aren't in space where smoking disgusts you, and are used to the flavor, cigs taste very good. It is an acquired taste. And it makes sense to me still that a newbie would want that taste. But it makes more sense to me, as a vaper for a couple of years, that a) you aren't likely to ever find that taste in an eCig, and b) there are so many (millions of) other flavors for vaping that, chances are, you will get over that strong preference you had as a newbie in a matter of weeks.
