Okay I have an old kamry KTS that has seen better days. Its served me really well but the top cap is stripped and the center tube has wobbled a little since I bought it and its only got worse over time. I really like the side firing mods. I have plenty of bottom firing mechs. I have not kept up on side button mods.tho so Im hoping some of you can help me find what Im looking for. Here's the rundown:

Must be a clone. I am not paying origonal prices.
No wires in the switch. If there are must be able to handle at lowest 0.6ohm load safely. Im normally around 1ohm but like room.
Preferably non telescopic. Im not opposed to it but I find all telescopics wobble as they age and Id rather avoid it.
Must be 18650 compatible. 18350 tube would be nice as well. 18500 I can pass on.
Brass or copper contacts. No chrome or silver plating.
The 510 threading itself must be Steel. Pins and rest of cap doesnt matter.

Those are the basics. I could just buy another kts but Id like something a little more durable. Im not opposed to fasttech but will order from any reputable vendor. I also dont mind doing minor modifications or tweaks to improve it.

Whats out there in side fire mech mods these days?

I love the look of the poldiac clones but the button is a pain to manage.
And I don't recall ever seeing any that didn't have silver plated brass pins.

I do have a recommendation, although it doesn't meet every - list of requirements - bullet point... and that is the Vape Art Sirius SS II.
It's an original mod of Greek origin with exceptional build quality and performance... but, in the 'Santino' finish comes in at under $80 shipped with one 18650 tube. A SS 510 head is available but unlisted.

Here's a well photographed ECF review.

Thanks, Id have never heard of it if it wasnt for your post. Looks like a nice mod and one I may consider. I dont like the button construction tho and am concerned that it might not be able to handle sub ohm builds well. Imo the less delrin and springs in the switch the better. Its also a little pricier than Im intending but not out kf the question. ill definitely research it more tho. Thank you for sharing it.

I'm disappointed that there haven't been more responses to this question.

There are way too many bottom button mods and not enough side (top or bottom) button mods!!
If we take price out of the equation, there are the authentic SBs... like Atmizoo Rollers, Dingos and Guppies, the GGs, Poldiacs, Atmomixani '69', Dominus Fecit & Lords, Vio3d My Point", Congestus, top-button "microstick" and the Adam.

If your upper limit was around $150, you could get a genuine Atmizoo Dingo or Guppy... with Rollers starting at around $10 more. There's also the GG "Stealth" for around $150... and my previously mentioned VA Sirius for under $100.

So, plenty of SBs... just not a lot of really good, inexpensive SBs. :p

Oh Buffalo... I forgot. I hear the Hcigar Atmomixani '69' is decent... but it's a tele with silver plate pins, so maybe not. ;-)

Yo, Buffalo,
By the way, did you notice my post #5 above? I kinda ninja edited at the same time you were posting the other day, so you mighta missed it.

(I so wish there was a 1:1 Roller or Dingo clone, or wish even more I was in a financial situation to allow me to buy an Atimazoo.)

Yep I did. I actually saw the Drawtube over at venerable before I saw your post. Its only like $15 so I suppose I could get one for giggle. But that got me thinking that if I was gonna spend $15 I could buy a new KTS and keep the old one for parts... which I may do anyways.

Sigelei Roller Clone aka #20 Mechanical Mod. I believe kidneypuncher.com and some other vendors have it. Sigelei #20 V2 has the flush head. I havent researched it much but I think the reviews on it were kinda.... "meh whatever". Its not 1:1 tho I believe.

Im not opposed to spending $80 or so but really Im trying to stay under $50. I have a budget I have to stick to every month.

Getting a new kts is an after thought. Id rather put those bucks to better use. I agree it was flimsy but it worked well. It survived a harsh very cold Buffalo winter in serviceable condition, only recently thkse threads stripped out of the 510.

The side fire mods are much better to use with gloves on cause you can just squeeze into your palm to fire the button. So having one is a matter of practicality for me, esp during cold weather months.

I think the #24 has a wire in the switch tho. I could be wrong.

imo, the KTS was the flimsiest and second worst of my many side button mods.

The Sig #20 is SO far from a Roller clone! The Sig #24 is 100x better (yes, that clip ring thing comes off), but still not a Roller clone.

Naa, the #24 is a pin bridging two screws. No wires. Pretty good switch. It has other foibles, though, including a slightly domed top means no topper looks flush, and two thin springs (top cap and bottom cap) in the circuit. I wouldn't use it for very low resistance toppers, but fine for protanks and the like.

Not a clone. Consider the Silver Bullet from AltSmoke. Made in Ohio from aircraft-grade aluminum in a variety of colors for under $90. The white Bullet above was my first mod and has been a durable companion for over two years. Great button, stainless steel 510 connection, buttery-smooth cap threads. Battery extension sleeve available to use a Kick. Switch does have a wire, but I'm currently using a Patriot RDA with dual coil 0.6 ohm on my Bullets. If you want a fully mechanical Bullet, there is the Silver Bullet-M.

Been mentioned - but the EA (Rev 1) could probably still be found for under $150.00,, Great side fire button and well built - was overpriced when it came out but still a very solid and well built mod - I know all the discussion about how the clone was just as good..but the one I had wasn't even close (i.e the wobbliness and poor threads ).. The authentic when screwed together exhibits none of that.. I know the telescope build doesn't interest you though

From the looks of it so far its likely Ill end up buying the EA clone someplace.

If, I was going to buy an original side fire (which is a big if but damn for this one Im really tempted) it would be the Kabbalah Mod by Yaelik. That swich is fantastic but its a 26650 and in addition to the mod Id need batteries. So all in nearly $300 I suppose. I dont think those are US prices on his site. Todd's reviews did a youtube review on it and was simply giddy over it. I personally dont want the logos tho but the way its put together is nice.
