I've lost a terrible amount of money in vaping if you compare it to the cost of smoking...but I like vaping, I don't smell or cough too much anymore, and I have some pretty awesome mods, lots of killer tanks, many strong atomizers, and a DIY kitchen ready to go on top of my dresser. vaping has become a lifestyle of sorts for me. I like to collect a small arsenal of flashy, functional, and fun ways to vape; downside is it costs a lot of money!!! I know I'm not alone though. I watch youtube videos and reviews all the time and I keep seeing more and more variations of myself or vice versa (meaning people who are SERIOUS with vaping and go ALL OUT).

I think that is a great point! There is a difference between hobbyest and the people who just vape. If people truly love vaping and want to make it into a hobby, well you don't "save" money in a hobby. Some people just want to get off cigarettes. If that is the case, they will usually save money. I am sort of the hybrid between the two. It has become sort of a lifestyle for me, and I enjoy trying different flavors. I usually never get more than 10 ML (Unless I vape it constantly) so $5-$10 isn't a lot, and I'm still saving money.

I think the hobbyests are some of the best people on this forum! They can usually give you a precise opinion on what they think is best, and then you can purchase it. Of course, this usually sticks with hardware. Still, I must say I have found some of my favorite juices from people's recommendations. Just don't buy 30 ML of juice if you aren't sure you'll like it!

I figure you need a box of 5 cartos and 4 30ml of juice for a month.Thats about $50.Even cheaper if you mix your own.Thats less than 1 carton of smokes.

where you getting 30mL bottles that cheap?? Even if the cartos are 6 bucks.... thats 44 for juice with shipping?? so 10 bucks for 30mL?? Where at?

I'm spending lot more money not only compared to analogs but to Greensmoke. With Greensmoke it was much easier to plan vaping budget, I loved only one flavor from GS and was buying 4 packs of prefilled cartos per month, end of story. Now after I discovered ECF and complete new dimension of eliquids/mods/kits etc... I simply cant stop buying new stuff, especially juices. As I'm still on hunt for good all day vape I spend huge amount of money buying new juices from various vendors. And I go mental on sales.
But I enjoy it, it's my new hobby and it's my money and I love it.

P.S. I even abandoned playing Call of Duty and Skyrim because all my spare "PC time" I spend browsing ECF and vendor sites :) . Lucky for me my wife has a great patience (bless her), she basicly lost her husband in the world of "VG/PG/TH/Carto/atty/ejuice/steeping/condom method". Her all time favorite "weirdness" is "taryn spin", she watches me with the surprised face expression when I'm standing in the middle of the room and demonstrating my superior nunchaku skills with cartos on rope.
I hope one day I'll settle down. :)

I just calculated it up this morning. I've been doing some stocking up, since there were some awesome Christmas sales going on. I've spent a total of $322. I think I have the beginnings of a good stockpile. I'm trying not to spend anything else until I break even. (cost includes what I just bought on sale, plus my inital investment)

I have a total of:
5 batteries,
10 attys,
746ml of juice (250ml of my favorite juice, and diy unflavored juice that will make 496ml, plus the necessary flavorings and PG necessary to dilute it)
plus 100ml I got as part of my initial investment
a PCC
2 carrying cases
3 battery chargers

It's my guess that most of the main cost is trying to find a flavor that is tolerable. Everything I tried before, I hated, so I pretty much only vape mint or menthol now. I might next try a few flavors of a good US juice.

I too have definitely not saved any money so far. On the contrary. Buying vaping gear have made quite a dent in my savings account.
From the top of my mind: 7 EGO batts, 2 VGO/krk808-D batts, a Precise Plus 18650, an Omega, a Lavatube, a Buzz Pro, 10 attys, 100+ cartos, lots of flavors, VG, PG, 54 mg nic juice.
I will probably get a tank soon and the Kick (for the P+). And then I won't be spending anymore, except on cartos and juice. Who am I kidding?

I've been vaping for 3 months - not smoked a single cigarette. I don't need all those batteries and mods. But to me they are an important psychological factor. I'm in for a lot more than a dollar and a dime, and am lucky enough to be in a phase of life where I can afford it. Still, I think the IGL (=insatiable gear lust) will phase itself out at some point.

Oh, and It's insanely fun as well.

I think a lot of poeple missed the point of the OP original post, which was that the sigs say people have saved money in the last so, and so many days , etc... I understand what he's referring to because in the month and so I have been vaping I have spent over $500 between getting raped by V2 and havving 5 new Batteries including VV , trying approx 30 different juices and reordering about 5 of those and tanks, fluxos, vision extremes, ce2 , dual ccoil , I've bought them all , no way to save, to top it all I had my cigarettes brought in from argentina at $15 dollars a carton for Marlboro Lights, no way I'm saving BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT :

depending on what your main goal is OP, mine is to quit smoking and I have, Hopefully I will start excersizing and playing Futbol again soon, this might have saved my life , and that to me HAS NO PRICE !!!

I wish you luck and forget about the money , find what you enjoy to vape and how to vape and the money will be better spent .

No, you are doing just fine...lol...we are all addicted...I guess that's why we all started this in the first place. Where is that mailman! It is totally addictive and if I had the cash...I would probably have 20 mods, 1000 juices, tanks, an infinite number of cartos and god know knows what else.

I just got my diy stuff in today...looked everything over and went right to the pc and spent more money on flavors and bottles. At least this is fun even though I have no idea how american express is going to get paid...lmao. I made my first flavor...A big winner right out of the gate...just as good as bwb.

Yea baby, I knew I would do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My running cost now is about $2/day, including $0.9/day towards whatever hardware I wish to buy in the future.

This year I bought an infinity with 3 sets of batts and a charger, and a buzz pro with 3 sets of batts and a charger. Both pv are rock solid, as are the batteries, and the chargers are the same, so they are redundant. I also picked up a good tank, and a couple of adapters, about $315 grand total, so the $0.9 is reasonable. I really have zero need for anything new right now, doubt I will for some time to come.

Consumables are $1.10 a day, $0.6 liquids and $0.5 cartos. Those are real numbers, fully burdened with s&h. I'm vaping 6 ml/day, but have my diy down.

So, $2/day for a year gets 2 really nice mods, good eliquid, good cartos.

I live in ny, so really do save about $6.50/day compared to smoking.

First half year, before I went to mods, I was coming in at about $2.50/day. Multiple sets of 808 & riva gear, some commercial eliquids though I was "only" vaping 3ml/day, initial diy experimenting.

Now the $6.50/day savings isn't totally pocketed, I do a lot of pif type things, but that is truly discretionary, separate from what it takes to keep me a happy vaper.

I'm healthier, dw is much happier, made new friends, and saved some $. A win all around :)

With the help of these other folk tho, right?

You are absolutely right...that and the fact that I did not toss the bwb out the first day I had it because I really did not like that floral note, but then after a week it got better. I only had 3 tobaccos with only 10ml so I could not steep it longer. I will see how the batch I made goes...I hope it gets better.

Frankster, it has been kinda fun following your posts. Sometimes I don't know if you would benefit more from measured advice or a good swift kick in the pantz, but I'm really glad to see you're still trying to figure it out!

As for me, after initial purchases of decent hardware and juice, I'm good for probably another 3 months without further expense. If true, I'll be significantly ahead of 'smoking' expenses. In my sig, you can see what I've saved on analogs, AND what I've spent on vaping. I haven't tried DIY, but will continue to follow your posts. Who knows...maybe you'll inspire ME to give it a go.

I'm exactly 2 weeks into this. I'm on my own, I don't know of any other vapers in my tiny little town in the middle of BFE West Texas. So no help other that ECF. My eGo kit was $96. My e juice first order from Mom & Pops was $17.01. My order from Ms T's was $19.60. I just place an order tonight from Mom & Pops for $26.32. This should be enough to get me through at LEAST the next 3 weeks, if not 4, at the rate I'm going. So, that's roughly $170.00 in my first 2 weeks.

I smoked about a pack a day, sometimes 1 1/2 if I had an unusual amount of a-holes to deal with that day at work. My Marlboro Menthol Smooths were up to just under $7 a pack. So that's about $210 a month, at just 1 pack a day.

I see the savings.

$215 spent for vaping products so far (includes s & h). And yes, we paid too much initially for our e-cig 808's (2 auto, 2 manual), 40 carto pre-filled, 2 wall & 1 car charger, & case = $163. I went with a couple's kit because I didn't know exactly what we would need. 2 times since the initial purchase we've bought 5 premade ejuices = $52 (still waiting on 3 to be delivered).

So here is my calculator:

Now double this because my hubby smoked as much as me. Yes, we have definitely saved. Not only our wallet but also our lungs, clothing, health, etc.

I want to get into DIYing our own juice but have to do a bit more research & get some start up advice. We are also looking to eventually get a few more batteries (found a new supplier=cheaper). So our vaping costs will go up but that's OK because we are saving $$$ not buying analogs at the same time. :D
