..well lets see...we(wife, step daughter and I) were spending 480bux+- a month on analogs...spent near 500 bux the first month on supplies...since then, we are spending less than 20bux/wk vaping...that includes around 40ml juice and 3-4cartos...I buy most of our juice from bluemistvaping at 10.50/30ml and my cartos are around a buck 35 each...when we first started, we bought about 30-40 sample sizes from blue mist and found what we liked and stuck with it...so, what are you spending all that money on???????

Net, my running cost is $2/day vaping instead of what I spent smoking, and that's changing cartos every 4 days, not counting any reuse of cartos. Earlier I was running at $2.50/day, using a bit higher nic and the classic proprietary batteries (808, Riva, etc.). For me using a decent grade VV mod has been cheaper, as the little batteries did have breakage.

Here's my earlier $2.5/day:
Carto: $0.4/day (Catch an Eastmall coop and cartos end up costing only $0.8 each, the $0.4/day is based on paying more standard prices of about $8/5 pack)
Eliquid: $1.3/day (it's actually cheaper for me, since I DIY, but $1.2/day is a person vaping 3 ml/day of $12 eliquid)
Hardware: $0.8/day (At that rate you can buy a full new Riva Lite kit every 60 days, including shipping to cover the HW/cartos/eliquid.)

Now:
Carto: $0.5/day (I've recently gone to a different carto that's slightly more expensive)
Eliquid: $0.8/day (I've increased consumption to 6 - 7 ml/day, but my current DIY costs < $4/30ml, including all shipping and materials)
Hardware: $0.7/day (It could be less, but this just lets me build a kitty going forward, to buy the next toy. My $130 for a VV, 3 sets of batteries, charger is still going strong after > 8 months. I let myself get another mod, $160 with multiple sets of batteries, after months, just because I felt like it, not because my first one had any issues.)

So, I started at $2.50/day, I'm down to $2/day, it'll actually drop a bit more as I drop my nic more. The above are real, actual numbers. The 3 ml/day on 808 or 510 voltages represents a pretty healthy consumption level, I never was trying to stretch things out. The 6-7 ml now at higher voltages is likewise pretty healthy.

Did I spend more? Yes, for play stuff, things I use to pay it forward, some things that I just futzed around with, tried. I do, however, recognize that the hobby part is separate from the core vaping part. None of the things I use, or have used, are any secrets, I bought things from good vendors based on asking questions here on ECF.

Well Frankster you somewhat right and some not.
The initial investment can vary . Some people will get the basic 510 kit and a few Carto's and juice and be happy for a while.
Other will get a more high end Mod, tanks, Carto's juices etc and it will be expensive .

I own a few mods and lots of Carto's and some tanks, yes it's expensive but I enjoy it and can afford it. I am more concern about saving my health vs my money. I never really got into vaping to save money. Maybe the ones who post their savings were heavy smokers living in NY paying $8-$10 a pack (x2 packs or more a day can get rather expensive ).

The way each spends his/her money is totally up to them and can easily budget it on the low or high end.

I truly enjoy testing different juices from different vendors, once I find some I really like I'll stock up.
I quit using atomizers and doing Carto's in tanks only. I buy 30-40 cartos at a good sale and it will last me months.

I totally do not get your point...I started off just like everyone else and I do not purchase everything I see. I purchased the juice based on great reviews. I did not buy them aimlessly

Reviews on juice are like reviews on movies, ymmv (your mileage may vary).

Everyone's tastes are different. You may not like what I like, in other words.

Ignore the $$ saved in my signature, because a previous poster is correct -- for me at least -- that it's there much more to track how long it's been since I stopped smoking and started vaping rather than how much money I have not actually saved.

I know that in the beginning I spent more money because I was trying to find my comfort zone ... which batteries I like best (eGo-T passthru), which atty/carto (Liberty Flights G4), and juice (Organic French Vanilla from Velvet Vapors). I don't switch up flavors anymore, as it became more of a pain in the behind than it was worth -- I like my vanilla.

Once you settle into your zone, you won't be outlaying the cash like is needed to get the initial equipment and juices needed to get started.

My biggest recommendation to you is to stop buying 30mL bottles of liquid unless you already know you like the flavor ... it's a waste of money when you take one taste and say "blech!" (unless of course your selling what you don't like in the Classifieds.)

How can you use just 5 cartos a month when you have 10-15 juices unless you top off with a different juice in the same carto and that will spoil the taste... I vape ten times more than I smoked and that cost money.

What nicotine strength are you using? If you're vaping that much, maybe a step-up in nic is in order ...

True the initial investment can be large but if you're smart things can start to pay off. I hate cartos so I use attys and buy them in bulk for like 4.69 each. I vape only 1 juice regularly which I buy in 100ml bottles. 100ml bottle is $53 and lasts me about a month and a half. Let's say that I use 2 attys a month (and ats being generous) and an entire 100ml of juice. That's a total of $63 let's make it $70 with shipping. When I bought digs by the carton a yr. ago they were $56 a carton. That's $168 a month if you smoke a pack a day. That means I'm saving $98 a month. Pay back a $200 investment in 2months! Not bad if ya ask me.

You know everyone here keeps talking about different flavors and such, I have a bunch but that's only cause of awesome deals on the classifieds and trying to get family to jump on the wagon. I have been vaping on 3 flavors exclusively since I started up again a month and a half ago, and one flavor during my nightmarish m401 days... cigarettes only have one flavor, that's how I look at it. the only reason I rotate now is so I never lose my taste.

you spent wayyy too much money to begin with, not sure how that happened

I started up this years session with an ego t kit, like 25 to 30 cartos and250+ Ml of juice then bought a used buzz, steel tank to go with, batteries, and a charger and I am just coming up on 350. you need shop like a poor man if you are looking to save anything. black Friday year-round on the classifieds ;) <3

I started vaping full time on 9/1. If I were to estimate costs I'd say I've spent

Hardware: $200
Attys/ Cartos: Maybe $90 (mostly due to trying new things more so that buying replacements)
Juice: Another $200 maybe (spent quite a bit finding the right juice/ vendor that I like)

Total spent on vapingl:$490

Average spent on analogs per month: $282 ($9.40/ pack x 30days)

3 months of vaping has saved me $166

It's not much, but now that I've settled on hardware that works for me (at least for a while) and found a juice/ vendor I like, I'd estimate my monthly costs to be around $50 - Maybe $100 every once in a while. That is probably a generous estimate too because I am still trying out juices & finding new ones I like pretty often.

All that said, I never started vaping to save money. I did it to cut back on smoking.I never dreamed I'd quit smoking analogs completely, much less so quickly and easily. I enjoy vaping. Far more than I ever enjoyed smoking & if I can spend $50 or $100 a month to do something that I enjoy, I'm all for it.

I think your doing it wrong... I haven't saved anything yet, and I may never but the dollar amount in my sig keeps me hoping that I will break even soon.

What am I doing wrong?...When you start out, you know absolutely nothing and you take reviews seriously like I did and got burned more times than not. Now is a different story, I believe almost nothing I see or read anymore. In the long run i will probably break even every month which is fine with me because I like the idea of vaping.

Yeah, my counter doesn't take into account the additional vaping needs. I think it is just a "quit smoking" template. I just calculated my approximate cost of goods so far for me and I am at about $350. That includes:

ego-T kit- About $90 after taxes, extras
4 LR attys- $40
ejuice- approx $130 so far
bigger battery- $23
experimental items - $40
I am sure I missed some shipping charges so I added another $20.

So, even though I haven't actually saved $422, I am now spending less than I would have on analogs. I was in the hole for the first couple of months but now I have figured out how to use what I have and my only big cost now is juice. Based on my last few orders I am spending about $35-40 per month on that.

Well I paid more than you did for my initial kit eGo-T 100 bucks. Precise 18650 2 batteries ss liquinator and ss drip tip 240 dollars 3 30 ml juice 20.00 ea., 2 5 pack 6ml juices 20 ea., 2 5 pack lr cartos 15.00 dollars 5 slotted or punched cartos 12.50

So $467.50 + 5 dollars in shipping (I have a store near me so I haven't spent much in shipping.) I should break even before xmas according to my sig.
