the good news is, I did not remove an ear, so there is that .. ;)

Well, you're a musician, not a painter....

I think we all go through bouts of that, Unc. I know I do. Times when I just sit and wonder along the lines of "what's the use", of being overwhelmed with all the lemons and dagnabbit, I'm sick to death of lemonade!

Darn, guess SOMEbody had to do it.... ;)

Congratulations on Post #2000 .. you win absolutely nothing .. ;)

If anyone is located within close range of the Jimmy Buffet "Cheeseburger in Paradise" chain .. today, you can scarf up a half-pound All American Burger with Fries for $6.00 clams .. and, a 99 cent cold draft beer .. no mention made of a "Big Kosher Pickle" .. ;)

Although I tend to feel, during these bouts, that I am alone, it is comforting to know I am not .. :)

In between watching out my back window and trying to figure out how many people are now moving into the upstairs apartment...o_O I made a mushroom spinach quiche...salsa chicken...Italian sausages with peppers... Played with my new toy enough to create some very sore finger tips..:D And... am waiting for a pork roast to finish cooking...:) I do most of my food prep for the week in one day, and off to the freezer and fridge it goes...;)

Took the dog for a walk at the Nashua River
Drove home the long way because I finally got my summer wheels on
Ate some cold leftover chicken on a fork (pork on a fork sounds better but ...)
Played some Steppenwolf from YouTube and some Brahms from CD
Bingewatched a half dozen episodes of Elementary and ate a salad
Made juice for friends and scared my rat

Piano Concerto No. 1 (Brahms) - Wikipedia

Bored last night so just ....ing around I put this together then I connected the dots or not
Avant garde poetry or bored demented ramblings
all the above or none of
whatever

Zart to Zep to Zakk
Stones to Swing to Sabbath
Jelly my Johnson to Tennessee Jed
Echoes to Come Together to Ode To Joy
Sing Sing Sing to Foxey Lady

I dunno, back to binge watching Elementary

I washed clothes and cooked for the week while binge watching NCIS.

My hours just got cut, again. The shop isn't doing too well right now. Summer is always a slow time. But, this is ridiculous. I'm down to only half my hours now.

It may be time to finally go get food stamps. Either that or get another job.

I'm self-employed and have had to cut my own hours .. ;) .. seriously, this Summer has been about the slowest for me on repairs and restorations that I can remember .. and, I've done the work for a long, long time .. I have friends with B&M shops, they say the same and attribute it to Web shopping .. I can't use that reason, since my work requires hands on labor ..

I would also guess that your Brothers .. ?? shop should not be effected by Web sales .. ?? or maybe it is .. ?? I never looked for those goods On Line, so I don't know ..

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Rant for Today©

I don't know how much News Coverage the current unrest in the Great City of St. Louis gets outside of the St. Louis Area ..

St. Louis protests: More than 80 arrests on third night - CNN

The thing is, this whole mess seems to me to be distorted, even by some of the St. Louis media .. the truth is, Peaceful, Law Abiding, Concerned Citizens have gathered for the last few days, organized and marched, fully and completely Peacefully .. Law Enforcement has kept their distance from these folks and respected their right to Protest fully and completely ..

When these Peaceful Groups go home, late in the Evening and go back to their regular lives, we are having fresh groups of Miscreants hit those same streets with nothing in mind but mayhem and destruction .. giving the legit Protestors a very bad rap .. it's sad to see ..

For many years, I have been a Regular at the Delmar Loop ..

Visit The Loop

This is an area of Small Businesses, many Minority owned and run, old school shops, eateries, just one of the greatest streets in the USA for a fun time, Chuck Berry used to play the Loop (Blueberry Hill) .. I visit Vintage Vinyl regularly and have written about it .. I have a tattoo from Iron Age Tattoo in the Loop .. I have worked for and been part of the Audience at The Pageant for various Concerts and Shows .. I could make a long list .. one of the first places I would recommend a Visitor to St Louis go to is the Delmar Loop .. it's a wonderful area that harkens back to a more free and easy World .. Street Musicians busking all day and into the evening ..

Yet, the Miscreants mentioned above did their best to hurt this great area that I love .. the good news is, the Great People of St. Louis came in, helped cleanup the mess left, artists voluntarily painted murals on the plywood now covering many of the windows .. and the Small Businesses vowed to carry on ..

Why, oh why, do we have Factions that are doing nothing to further the Discussions we should be having .. ?? Instead, doing their best to drive a wedge and create chaos .. I don't understand it ..

And, I don't think I ever will ..

I've seen quite a bit of coverage on the events there and knowing your proximity to St. Louis, I automatically thought of you... and where is Kim B? I haven't seen her post in awhile and she's in that area.....

Coverage here is spotty, at best, and yes, does generally just cover the mayhem. Very similar to what happened to Seattle many years back, the WTO protests, the seeds of the film "The Battle in Seattle." (Battle in Seattle - Wikipedia) Most protestors / demonstrators were peaceful there as well. Then, as you say, after dark, the "anarchists" come out to destroy things. And, as far as I could tell, they had no interest in what was being protested, just in destruction...

Violence is the last resort of the imcompetent.

Firearms are big ticket items. People shop/compare prices online. Some of the online prices are less than my brother's price even before any markup.

Luckily a person cannot have a firearm shipped to their home. They have to be shipped to an FFL dealer, where the customer has to come in, do a background check, and pay a transfer fee. We transfer more firearms than we sell. If it weren't for transfer fees, the shop would probably go under.

It must be tough to maintain a big inventory under those circumstances ..

I stopped selling new guitars made by Fender / Gibson and a few others some years ago .. the on-line places would be selling the same exact models for under what my cost was .. then, folks would come in and try something out and use their phones to see what it was selling for on-line to compare prices, which always raised my blood pressure .. :(

When I would call my Sales Reps and complain, they would say "But, hey, Willie, if you buy a trailer truck load, we'll get that price down for you substantially, then you can be price competitive .."

My Customers lost out, IMO .. I would tweak the instrument for their individual needs, no extra charge, offered three free string changes over a year, if they had any issues after the sale, I was always ready to make it right if I could, etc .. in the end, none of that really mattered to most, since if they could save fifty bucks, they bought on-line .. just the way it is these days ..

I can't stop myself from thinking of a couple of old platitudes regarding the consumers of today...banal, but still true...;) They are all too willing to "buy a pig in a poke" because they are "penny wise and pound foolish".

I shop online because I don't have another option most of the time. Aside from Black Friday, when you couldn't drag me into the insanity...I would much rather be able to see, feel, touch, hear...whatever I'm shopping for, and if it costs a bit more....so be it. Of course....I've always been a bit odd, because I prefer quality over quantity, and that usually means spending a bit more...

Having Amazon Prime makes it easy to return something, but....I'd much rather be able to hold it in my hands and know it was right to begin with...

And yes...good customers lose out because of this trend towards online shopping, constant price comparison and settling for what appears to be cheapest instead of looking for what is best....
