I used to think that when I was no longer working, that I would have time to do all the things I didn't have time to do then. So...there's still not enough hours in the day... What's up with that?
It goes by faster when we get older!;)

When you're working, you're just moving, moving, moving. Don't stop to think or rest. It takes a lot of time to catch up on your rest.

That too. When you're young, you're waiting for things to be over with, and time drags on. When you're older you want time to slow down so you can relish every moment.

It must be tough to maintain a big inventory under those circumstances ..

I stopped selling new guitars made by Fender / Gibson and a few others some years ago .. the on-line places would be selling the same exact models for under what my cost was .. then, folks would come in and try something out and use their phones to see what it was selling for on-line to compare prices, which always raised my blood pressure .. :(

When I would call my Sales Reps and complain, they would say "But, hey, Willie, if you buy a trailer truck load, we'll get that price down for you substantially, then you can be price competitive .."

My Customers lost out, IMO .. I would tweak the instrument for their individual needs, no extra charge, offered three free string changes over a year, if they had any issues after the sale, I was always ready to make it right if I could, etc .. in the end, none of that really mattered to most, since if they could save fifty bucks, they bought on-line .. just the way it is these days ..
Most of our customers are regulars. It's a nice friendly shop, and they trust and like Chris. He may not have a big inventory. But, he can get anything you want within 48 hours.

I wouldn't purchase a firearm on-line or from one of the auction sites. That's definitely something I want to hold, touch, inspect ... even a new out of the box one.

I agree. You need to hold it to know how it feels and fits your hand. Ideally, you need to actually shoot it too. But, that's not likely. But, there are always reviews, lots of reviews.

That holds true for a great many things...well, not the shooting part..;) I've read reviews until I'm cross eyed, and still know that when I order online, I'm taking a chance on whether the item will look the same, will the craftsmanship be there... or totally lacking, will it be a quality item....or destined for a quick trip to the trash, etc.

I know you were referring to reviews on how a firearm shoots...;) but reviews of any kind are only a guide and not always very accurate...

I admit to buying a lot on line. But I do have a 'line' I don't cross. If I need to go to a store to check an item in person for fit, finish, whatever ... I don't go home and look it up on-line ... I'll buy it from the store that had it in stock for me to hold and touch. This started with my 'fishing passion' and carried over to my other purchases. Literally 100's and 100's of Mom & Pop fly fishing shops, just here in PA alone folded and closed due to Ebay and other on-line stores for feathers, fur and hooks. I only have 2 left within an hours drive of me and none locally anymore.

Yiddle ... if you take up fly tying instead of guitar playing there is a great shop, TCO, just minutes from your place.

So we just got back from 2 days at the Jersey shore in Ocean City. That's were we took many summer vacations with our kids. Katie said, I've been in Colorado for 5 years. I want to see the beach. Can we go? Well she's still my little girl and I can't say no to her, never could. It was so grand to see my little girl and her little boy playing on the same beach were we had so much fun. There couldn't have been a better birthday present than that. It was a grey and windy day ... but the love and fun was shinning bright.

What a wonderful day for you all!! I haven't been back to the shore since I moved to PA....Are the boardwalk in Ocean City and all the venues on it still there after Sandy hit?

I've never tried fly fishing, but I do like to fish...:)

Just don't let go of the string... ;)

 That makes me think of my first time fishing for blue fish....which resulted in my first "Fish" story about the one(s) that got away...;) Several of us from the casino had got together and chartered a boat to take us out. It was a beautiful day, sun was shining, lots of snacks and ...ah..."beverages".. The fish were biting and a guy from the crew stood at the end of the boat to finish bringing them in once they were reeled in close enough. I finally got a strike on my line and then began a struggle.....with the guys laughing at the weak female and offering to take over because blue fish are said to be fighters..:grr: Nope!! my line and my fish!... did I mention....umbrella hooks were still legal then? Have you guessed where my story goes? :D When I finally got it close enough for the guy to reach out for it and say"Damn...she's got one on every hook!!"...the leader line snapped and lost them all.. I was the only one that day to have more than one fish hooked at the same time, and the only one to end up with zero caught...

Me neither. I also wouldn't buy one second hand. A firearm's history is part of what you are buying, and I want it to be short and sweet: Factory to dealer to me.

I got mine used. But, that's because of where I work. If it's used, I can take it to the firing range and test it out. If I don't like it, my brother will let me return it. If it was new, he couldn't do that.

It's a Walther PK380.

I would like eventually to get a .22 revolver. Maybe a Charter Arms Pathfinder.

People tend to recommend revolvers for women because they're simpler. But, they also kick pretty hard. But, a .22 I could handle.
I would maybe look for something in the Taurus lineup. Guns don't have to be beautiful, but Charter Arms makes the most .... ugly guns I've ever seen. I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but still. . . .
