FYI: For those interested . . .

Just checked and there are more 1 liter & 120ml Bottles of 100 Unflavored Nic - back in stock & still 50% Off:

100mg Unflavored Nicotine Base
.

As tempting as that deal is, unless I decide I need to get ready to sell under the table because the crap has really hit the fan, my current stash seems to be able to tide me over until I reach 138 .. .. then again, nic may become worth it's weight in Gold .. conundrum ..

Re Shingles, I recommend for everyone to get the vaccine. I never thought there was a concern since I had been exposed to Chicken pox many times as a child and never caught it. In my 50's while on vacation, I had a breakout of blisters. It was extremely painful and as soon as I got home, I went to my Dr. I was sure I had been bitten by something. Doc took one look and said you have shingles. I said impossible since I was immune to chicken pox and never got it. He said I had to have had it, just didn't display symptoms.

Needless to say, when I reached the age they want you to be to get the vaccine, I got it. Now I hear there is a newer one and I am supposed to get that one.

I consider myself lucky that it was on my leg nerve track. When on the face, it can cause blindness or deafness.

On a side note, I know a couple Oldsters that have gone to work for the 2020 Census .. it seems like a pretty good side gig and in my area, they seem to be having a tough time hiring people .. worth considering if you want to pick up some extra shekels ..

Short-Term Side Hustle: Becoming A Census Worker

I did that many years ago, in a very small town. Not hard, just a lot of walking and talking. Please be careful of the part of town they want to assign you to. Extra money is always handy!

I did get your PM…thanks sweetie . I have a package coming containing lots of koolada, some menthol and 500 ml nic. I probably won't live long enough to use it all because I have enough nic in the freezer to last me 15 years at my present usage rate…actually longer than that because when I bought it I calculated my daily intake higher than it is. This nic purchase falls under the "backup for the backups.

We have Publix down the street. Wish I had known their pharmacy would pay me to get the flu vaccine there. :(

My doc told us that we don't have to get the new shingles vaccine that just came out. She said one in a lifetime is all that is needed.

Have I got news for you. The only people at risk for shingles are the people who have chicken pox. Chicken pox goes away and the virus continues to live in the spinal column. Mostly passive but sometimes erupts as shingles.

I had chicken pox at 3 mos old. Slow forward 30+ years, the neighbor's visiting nephew had chicken pox and I broke out in shingles. Not fun. The doctor I saw asked about exposure and wasn't surprised when I told him about the neighbor's nephew. Fast forward 20+ yrs later, when I was offered the shingles vaccine I grabbed it with both hands and said give it to me NOW. Just Do It! (anyone else remember the t-shirts with that saying?).

We got flu our shots on Sunday. The Dr. recommends it for the hubby after his by-pass so I did as well. Funny thing, our arms hurt this year too.

During the 80's - I was a Census Worker in NYC in the Village, where I lived at the time, up to Chelsea . . . Great Job for the money I was paid, even though I had to walk up 5 flights of stairs at times . . . More importantly, I meet a lot of neighbors, a couple of them even became a friend too . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

I had to go to the Dr yesterday for my 6-month checkup, blood test, and refill for meds. I also got the flu shot. Before I could tell the nurse I wanted the shot she asked if I wanted to get it.
I had the shingles while I was recovering from my heart attack. One of our friends told us about Olive Extract. We got some at Wholefoods, a local health food store. It was offered in a pump spray for sore throat. It was recommended that I spray it directly on the area and loosely cover it with a cotton pad. It offered me instant relief.

What is Olive Extract? Surely not olive oil, or you would have said so. We do have a Wholefoods near by. I've never been it, but do you think they'll know what I'm talking about.

Good morning Nermal and Diver if you're still up.

    Hola .. :)

I've gotten a flu shot I believe, for at least the last 15 years .. and, I suppose the testimony for it is the fact that I have not had the flu .. however, I don't think I had the flu more than twice in the years leading up to the first flu shot .. pneumonia shot, check that box as well ..

I did have Chickenpox as a child and have a few pock mark scars to prove it .. so, I approached my DR some years ago for the shingles shot .. although he is not an anti-vaxer, he did somewhat poo-poo the idea but did get the shot administered .. his initial thoughts were "Well, Willie, your immune system is good, you're physically in pretty good shape all things considered and about 1/4-1/3rd of people actually get shingles that are in the risk group .." If memory serves, it was a fairly expensive shot at the time and did have a finite effectiveness ..

My doc was not encouraging about the older shingles vaccine, but said to wait for the new one to come out. So, last year during my check-up he said it's available now and to get it so Mike and I both did at Walgreens. It's given in 2 doses, the 2nd one is given 2-4 months after the first. He said they're not really sure how long it will last, probably years, maybe forever. I like the sound of that!

Orchids are such incredibly complicated flowers! Kudos to you for being able to get them to bloom. Seems like you always have at least one of them in bloom!

Shingles is nasty! Some people get chicken pox and are covered in the blisters, but some people hardly have any show up at all. Still, the virus is in your system. But if you feel certain that you haven't had it would a doc still recommend getting the shot? Or do a blood test to see if you have the virus in your system before getting the shingles shot?

I know adults aren't supposed to be able to get chicken pox, but I've heard that about measles too and Mike got a form of measles in his 20s and ended up in the hospital spiking very high fevers. I was told they could only keep him alive with IV fluids until they could figure out what was wrong with him. It took 4-5 days before he finally broke out in the rash. Childhood illnesses are serious in an adult.

Are you sure you heard that right? It's the new shingles vaccine called Shingrix that is supposed to last a long time. Just did a quick search: Zoster vaccine - Wikipedia

Yeah, doc said I had to have had chicken pox in order to have shingles. Guess I am one of the few that never had a single sign of them, not one blister and believe me, my mother was checking closely when I was exposed.

    Hola .. :)

If you need whatever Olive Extract is, you might snap some up ASAP since it may be lumped into the "Flavor Ban" ..

I'm pretty sure that Shingles first vax had a finite effective period, if I remember right from what my DR said ..
