Thank you all for your kind wishes for Abby!

Well, the vet was hesitant to script phenobarb right away cause he is not totally convinced that she needs it, at least, not for now! It looks as though it is idiopathic epilepsy! He wants us naturally to keep an eye on her and monitor any seizures she may have and if we could go a natural route, he would prefer that.
We have 'Pet Alive Ease Sure' a totally natural substance which we will administer .5ml 3x a day which is reputed to calm the nervous system.
We also have 'Just Relax' another herbal calming support formula! Just imagine, I have a naturalist for a vet......:)

I've already given the vet the printed info about the toxicity of the Cuban Tree Frog which is suspect and he told me he will contact Dr. Steve Johnson from U of Fl. to find out more about the toxins and hope for an antivenom.

He will script phenobarb if none of these natural remedies work.....
This has gotten extremely emotional for myself and my man, but we are keeping our cool and we will do all that we can for our lil princess.

Not even Alprozolam (in the same class as you Clonazepam) will help me sleep more than 5 to 6 hours. Say, I thought you were weaning yourself from the Clonazepam. How's that going or not. Or perhaps this isn't the 'space' to talk about it.

I was .. I went from 1mg per day to 3/4th mg .. it's tough to break off 1/4th of a pill, I tell ya .. o_O .. but I've gotten pretty good at it with a Swiss Army Knife blade .. (some days I do splurge and still go for the whole enchilada)

Living the Bachelor life this week .. ??

Good morning, Loungers!

Have to take our Abby to the vet today....late yesterday she had 4 seizures and the poor thing was so disoriented afterwards and she wouldn't leave my side for a minute once she came to. Last month, she had one, so we took her to the vet then, and she said it may be a one time occurrence, but keep an eye out and record the times, etc. We suspected then that she had bitten into a Cuban tree frog since they are toxic to dogs if the dog tries to play with it........well, it's been a month and now she had a cluster of 4.
Being a black lab, she is more susceptible to seizures and may have idiopathic, but jeez, how I hate to see her like that.

Sorry for such a downer for a morning post, but it is what it is!
I'm so sorry about Abby. Poor pupper! Maybe there's something they can give her. My sister's golden had seizures. The vet gave her something that helped. She lived several years after that. She was getting older when it began & she passed at 13, so there's hope.

Indeed ... me and the girls, Phoebe and Maggie are having a good time while Janet's away. These two sisters know how to work me and get what they want, when they want it. They're wearing me out. I'm not in my twenties any more.
(oh, Phoebe and Maggie are our cats)

I just got home from shopping and have a pot of chicken and noodles on the stove for dinner. When my daughter is on the way home from work, I will put some rolls in the oven.
I have decided on my costume for giving out candy to the little ones tonight. I'm going as a crotchety old man. I wish everyone a good evening with all of the ghosts, goblins, princesses, and superheroes tonight. May you not run out of candy and if you have any leftover I hope it is the kind you like to eat.

I got the candy stash .. Walgreens had all the Halloween stuff on clearance already at 50% off today .. with weather and temps as they are, I don't know if there will be much turnout in my 'Hood, though ..

Well I'm heading out to a tying class tonight and Janet's out of town, so no free candy at our place tonight.

Thanks for the update, Gracie. I'm all for natural if it works. Fingers crossed that it does. Just don't want you to be afraid of the phenobarb. I'm sure this is very emotional for you and hubs, and seeing seizures is NOT easy, even if your baby doesn't feel it. Wrapping love around the 3 of you :wub::wub:

Good evening, Friends....too much rain for the kiddies tonight. Think it was postponed until Saturday.
Wishing you all a better tomorrow. :)

    Hola .. :)

My nightly Clonazepam and/or "substance" does the trick and takes the edge off the new day .. (to further stay mellow, I also quit the 24 Hour "News" Channels) .. :)

Many the time I've thought, "You know, Willie, keeping a box of Depends on hand for night's you just don't want to get up and hit the bathroom might be a solution .."

I'm not sure about that. Sometimes, I think that if it weren't for having to get up at night, I might never get out of bed at all.

Gracie, I like that your vet wants to try natural remedies first. That would always be my first choice. If they don't help, however, as Kat says, pheno is not to be afraid of if needed.

We don't get trick or treaters out in the boonies where we live. But we are not home anyway!

We were stuck in bumper to bumper, parking lot traffic (literally sat for 15-20 min at a time) for 3 1/2 hours driving through Atlanta toward Knoxville. People were exchanging business cards, one couple pulled over, he walked the dog, then she came out of the bushes (what we wanted to do!).

We drove through the cold front, 80s when we left this morning, 40s when we finally made it to Chattanooga. 30s and freeze warning for the morning! Spending the night here, finish the drive to Knoxville tomorrow, the set up the booth. Fortunately we were aware of the cold front and packed accordingly.

The hotel had a basket of M&Ms at the front desk, the the restaurant we went to for dinner had a big basket of goodies! I nabbed Reeces, peanut M&Ms and PB M&Ms. Yea, I like nuts, I relate to them...

Happy Halloween to all! BOO!:shock::shock:

No Candies for "Me", especially since there are no "trick" or "treaters" here - just old folks trying to be young in the community room (they're having a costume party w/pizza) . . .

BTW: Halloween gathering earlier tonight in the GAY Neighborhood Wilton Manors (the city with a city) . . . AND - After all the little children went home - there were a lot of half naked adults . . . 80* + 81% Humidity over night and then tomorrow is supposed to hit a record of 89* during the day . . .

    Good morning :)

Gracie, that's great that your vet recommends natural methods before chemicsl ones…I wish more did that. But please don't be anxious if Abbie needs to be put on phenobarb…we had many patients on it and they lived their natural life span with quality of life.

Good morning Bea, Fran and Kat. It was 90 degrees yesterday and we woke up this morning to 37 degrees. Good thing I brought clothes for warm and cool weather. It’s been a lovely visit with my sister so far. Today my niece is going to take us shopping and lunch. Not sure what else we’ll get into. It’s not easy trying to keep up on the iPad. (I left the computer at home)

Gracie, I do hope your Abby is doing better. I’m sending mucho healing vibes to her.
