To any of my friends here who may have noticed my absence the past few days... I've been a bit down, both emotionally and physically. I have a really bad cold and as a person who has had so many bouts of bronchial pneumonia, I go to bed and stay there as a precaution. Really wishing I had a bottle of Honey Jack to put in my tea...
Yep, I was wondering about you!!! I so wish I could get you that bottle of Honey Jack!

Don't know exactly where, but she sent this tonight and I thought of Janet right away...;)

video-1574219907.mp4

Well...she just told me where... Monterey... She's really racking up the frequent flyer miles... She's heading back to CA next month to participate in a Spartan Race!!

We were at the Monterey Aquarium many moons ago and the facility actually extends into the ocean. They have an otter rescue program that we signed up to tour. Otters can only raise 1 pup so if they birth 2 they have to abandon one. Oh man, I wanted to jump right in there and help! But you can't talk or make human noises when handling the babies. Still, I would have liked to be a volunteer! They're gonna be my cousins someday!

And your daughter. What a beautiful place to make some music!

That's not the view from your house is it?????

LOL...Not likely, though it would make a good one. She's only been playing for about 7 years, and only allowed anyone at all to listen or watch in the past couple of years. I was surprised to see she took her guitar along on her trip, but then...I haven't a clue what all of these trips have been about...;)

Those who've known me here for sometime, know that my relationship with my Daughter isn't all that it should be, so I grab greedily at any little crumbs that come my way. I only found out about the upcoming Spartan Race when my SIL came over to put new batteries in my alarms. He had just finished building an 8' obstacle wall in their yard for her to train on...

I do know that she has to log 500 miles on a dirt bike next spring to qualify for a group excursion she has signed up for sometime in the coming year. Taking off from Kathmandu, Nepal. 12 days on dirt bikes to places such as the birthplace of Buddha, the sacred tree, Bengal tigers, and the never climbed Himalayan sacred mountain Machapuchare.

There will be a couple of Nat Geo photographers in the group, so she promised me some great pics. I explained about copyrights and needing permission to use. She said she'll get me that permission, and that she's taking along her camera as well, so we shall see....

Wow, that's pretty ambitious! Good for her!

I was wondering where you were, but figured you were immersed in painting. I hope you feel better quick! Here's some chicken soup to help.

Good morning everyone :)

Yesterday was a terrible day. We had to say goodbye to our Peaty. He was a wonderful cat and my friend for almost 14 years. I shall miss him terribly.

Oh no Bea, I'm so sorry. That's heartbreaking. Hang onto the memories of love and comfort you shared and how lucky you both were to have each other.

Morning, all.

That's not the view from your house is it?????

No, that was taken from a roadside park about 6 miles away. While we can see her from the house, too many trees to make for good pics.

Yesterday was a terrible day. We had to say goodbye to our Peaty.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
    Hola .. :)

When I was coming up as a kid, Westerns on TV were the thing .. we had a small Black & White TV, it maybe got 2 or 3 channels tops and you had to fiddle with the antenna sometimes to get reception .. but, that's where we were in the evening .. shows like "The Cisco Kid", "Davy Crockett", "The Gene Autry Show", "Gunsmoke", "The Lone Ranger" and more, dominated the airwaves, it seemed ..

So, I loved cap guns .. the ones that would come with a holster .. they were generally a cheap metal, you could sling one on and emulate those Western stars you'd see on the TV .. if a kid was lucky, they'd have a Cowboy Hat as well .. I don't remember ever having had a Hat ..

The beauty of the cap gun was the small, red rolls of caps that could be bought cheaply .. they came in a roll of I think 4 or 5 in a small box, and you'd break off one and place it in the "chamber", feeding it up thru the mechanism .. when you pulled the trigger, the mechanism would feed up the roll, one cap at a time .. and, you'd get a pretty good little pop, from what I guess now was a tiny bit of gunpowder, a dot on the paper .. it was a fun toy, it even had a certain smell as it popped off .. the spent paper roll would feed up thru the mechanism, and you could see where the tiny "explosion" had taken place ..

Sometimes, you'd get a dud, but they worked, for the most part .. the worst thing was when you ran out of caps and had to wait and beg Mom or Dad to buy you some .. they were fairly readily available in those days ..

It's likely not advisable to send a kid out to play, these days, with a cap gun, if there even are such things anymore .. but, I don't think kids get out and play like they did in those long ago days anymore, anyway ..
