Hola ..
When I was coming up as a kid, Westerns on TV were the thing .. we had a small Black & White TV, it maybe got 2 or 3 channels tops and you had to fiddle with the antenna sometimes to get reception .. but, that's where we were in the evening .. shows like "The Cisco Kid", "Davy Crockett", "The Gene Autry Show", "Gunsmoke", "The Lone Ranger" and more, dominated the airwaves, it seemed ..
So, I loved cap guns .. the ones that would come with a holster .. they were generally a cheap metal, you could sling one on and emulate those Western stars you'd see on the TV .. if a kid was lucky, they'd have a Cowboy Hat as well .. I don't remember ever having had a Hat ..
The beauty of the cap gun was the small, red rolls of caps that could be bought cheaply .. they came in a roll of I think 4 or 5 in a small box, and you'd break off one and place it in the "chamber", feeding it up
thru the mechanism .. when you pulled the trigger, the mechanism would feed up the roll, one cap at a time .. and, you'd get a pretty good little pop, from what I guess now was a tiny bit of gunpowder, a dot on the paper .. it was a fun toy, it even had a certain smell as it popped off .. the spent paper roll would feed up thru the mechanism, and you could see where the tiny "explosion" had taken place ..
Sometimes, you'd get a dud, but they worked, for the most part .. the worst thing was when you ran out of caps and had to wait and beg Mom or Dad to
buy you some .. they were fairly readily available in those days ..
It's likely not advisable to send a kid out to play, these days, with a cap gun, if there even are such things anymore .. but, I don't think kids get out and play like they did in those long ago days anymore, anyway ..
