OK, my turn, good evening Anise and Nermal and anyone else who is around.

All this talk abut photos - Mike made me a photo album of the grandkids and me for my birthday, but it needs some rearranging. Tonight I'm sorting through them, what a lovely way to spend the evening. They've grown so much. I can't believe it's been 5 years since Miles was born! He's the oldest and now the youngest, Brody, has just taken his first steps. Sigh.

Good morning everyone :)

Janet what a great gift…that album. The kids will have such fun going over it as the years go by. We did something similar for our son and he thought him as a baby was a hoot…especially himself running outside in the backyard stark naked as a one year old :)

Good morning Bea. Yes, the albums are fun. My neighbor made a small one for her grandson of his 1st year when he turned 2 years old. He loved the "picture book" of himself and spent a lot of time looking at the pages.

Speaking of nostalgic things. One year our daughter gave us each a Mother's and Father's book, from Hallmark I think. It was like a diary in that each page had a question on it that we were to fill out. She said she wanted to know who we were before she came along so the questions were things like what was your favorite pastime as a child and who was your best friend etc. I didn't want to mess up the book by writing in it so I did it on the computer and printed it out along with some pictures. Then I had a copy made for our son and one for me. It was a fun project. Actually, I'd like to see her do one because it's strange, the things our kids remember, and what made an impression on them. Just yesterday she was telling me that she loved that I read The Hobbit to her when she was sick and I have no recollection of that at all.

Good morning everyone! :)

My parents didn't have a specific book but they had photo albums from when we were kids. It was always great going through the albums and seeing all of us back then. We could always tell what hairdo was in style by what my mom's hair looked like at any given time.

That's great to have those albums. Usually you cam get a feel for the times from things in the background of those old photos. Sure wish I had some albums, especially from when my Dad was young. He was the youngest of 8 and from the age of 7 was raised by his older siblings. I've had vastly conflicting accounts of how/when his mother died so I had to search out historical records to figure it out. I'm pretty sure I found his father and uncle in prison. Families back then pretty much refused to talk about family members if they were involved in scandalous things. I remember my mother saying she'd asked about Dad's father and the family even refused to tell her anything.

Since I retired the weekends just don't hold the same excitement as they did when I was young. While raising our family and we were both working full time the weekends were for chores that we didn't have time for or were too tired to do during the week. Now in retirement every day is a weekend day! I still get a little excited when I'm on my way for a haircut or shopping mid-day knowing that some of my friends are still laboring at desks, trying to ignore the phones. I'm so happy I'm retired!!

Where did everyone go today? We're watching our son's 2 boys tonight while their parents got a well deserved dinner out with friends. Finally got both boys down. We always read books before bed and they've got a ton of them, but the one they all seem to prefer, at least when they're here, is the Info book we got advertising all there is to do in Stone Harbor New Jersey! No cute little talking animals or magical fairies, this has pictures of people on the beach and plates of food from the different restaurants and hotels and other businesses. Go figure.

Good morning everyone :)

Janet…so true about "scandalous" things from the past. My French grandmother refused to EVER talk about her parents no matter how I pleaded as a child…and I was her favorite. I found out years later from a distant cousin that her mother was an upstairs maid (as in PBS's Upstairs/Downstairs) in an aristocratic Parisian household and was seduced by that family's son. When she became pregnant with my gram she was shipped off to the south of France to her relatives to give birth and had to leave the baby there to be raised.

Marriage was out of the question and a child out of wedlock was quite a stigma for the mother. My gram was ashamed of her past her whole life.

Good morning friends!

I've been poorly the last few months...breathing issues, dry stuffed up nose and dry mouth n throat issues.. that I think is caused by having to use a Nebulizer app. every four hours, plus lots of allergy issues. I can't chew or swallow just about any food unless it's a meal with a LOT of noodles/pasta and creamy sauce and I can't really taste anything. So.. I've lost app. 20/25 lbs. in the past few months...and all my flesh is all wrinkled and hanging!

This is what my whole body looks like now:eek:

Yesterday's high here was 45. Overnight low was 46??? That's already higher than today's predicted high, so maybe I need to turn the thermometer upside down...

American football? That's the only kind, the other if futbol. :)

(Yup, Seahawks at 10 local today, will be firmly settled by then ;)

IN the meantime,

It's a terrible thing our bodies do to us! Of course we've earned every single one of those wrinkles and gray hairs!! I've never weighed this much in my life, but I'm sure if I lost the pounds I'd like to I'd look pretty much the same!
