Good morning David and whoever else is up. It's only 22 right now, but the sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful day - as long as I don't have to be outside...

Hola .. :)

I read a thing this morning that claimed drinking 1% milk would extend your lifespan .. o_O

Yeah well, wait 10 minutes and they'll reverse that theory. (Actually I think it's been reversed a couple times already.)

Remember when margarine was supposed to be so good for you? And chewing gum was bad too. And in the old wives tale department, I never met a kid who grew a watermelon in his belly from swallowing a seed.

Did Mike ever tell you that when his grandmother was young they had to drink a "Spring Tonic" made from kerosene in a jar with a nail in it that had sat over the winter. And she lived to be 94 years old.

Hola .. :)

Remember when the innocent Egg was bad for you .. ?? A repository of Cholesterol hidden within a shell .. ?? o_O
I never fell for that, really, I didn't......just went along and we had all the eggs we wanted.......after all it is the perfect food with the exact proportion of fat to protein!

Some farmers are having to give up their dairy farms cause milk, according to articles I've read, isn't really milk as we know/knew it......it's almond, cashew, coconut, etc. All plant based....I feel badly for those farmers who have given their lives to their endeavors, but I guess such is life with all its progress????
Real milk is still on the shelves, but a LOT of folks have become lactose intolerant, thus, the reason for the popularity of plant-based 'milk'. There's even a bill or some such thing being discussed that will take away the name 'milk' from the plant based cartons.....

Which does make some kind of sense, since almonds and soy beans clearly are not mammals :)

But then again, these people are willing to broaden the definition, so who knows?

I had no idea that there is an increase in lactose intolerance within the Populace happening, Gracie .. I've tried Almond "Milk" and it's OK .. but, in the end, I generally stick with whole milk .. I just like it better than the watery 1% / 2% / Skim Milk .. and, for a little treat, I like me some chocolate milk periodically .. :) .. when the Kroger has half gallons on at a buck each, I always get at least one chocolate .. :D .. liquid gold, I tell you ..

Good morning. Only 20 degrees outside, but going up to 45 today. Maybe this is a good day to go out and look for some sticks for my winter vase. Maybe I'll get it done before winter is over. 57 days till Spring!

So what's with all this lactose intolerance we hear about these days. Was it always a problem and it just now has a name or is it a new problem. And if it's a new problem, why? Or maybe it's just the new medical problem to have? I agree about whole milk tasting the best. As a teen I remember visiting my aunt. She'd always offer me a cup of coffee - with skim milk. It made the coffee look and taste awful.
